Has anyone lowered there HHR and ended up with the tires rubbing? If so, what set up caused it and which wheels and where did it rub?

Sure..
Lowering it cause it to rub.. I would add , mostly due to the width of my aftermarket tires which were 8.5 wide.

And the shocks loosing its buffer cushion due also to the lowering..
I added coil over monroe shocks.. first, that helped alittle bit...
It wasn't till I rolled the fenders (rear) that everything was fne again..

Hope that helps..

Other's here can answer your question better then me but here's what I found on my last lowered Camaro, with stock wheels/tire there was no rubbing....with aftermarket wheels I had on it for a short time ( 50 miles ) it rubbed.

joek,

if you do a search for "springs" "lowering" "rub" I'm pretty sure you'll see threads that talked about it.

Mine is lowered with the Chevy 17" wheels, GOldline springs. One trip with vehicle loaded down, there was a little rub, happening on bumps, when traveling at speed. Rubbed on the top outside of the tire, hitting the inside of the fender. Not much rub, but a little. Several with larger wheels, have rolled inside fender lip.

Normal, not loaded down, I have no problems.

It does stiffen the ride, and some hard bumps, you will definitely feel it.

I still enjoy the lowered look and I am having fun!!!!

I was thinking about cutting the rear inner fender as well. What size rims do you have on your car (20x8.0, 20x8.5)?
