Just wondering if the auto is doing as well as the standard shift? Or the LT2 compared to the LS with the smaller motor?

on my first couple of fill ups I've had around 28.5 mpg...I just broke a 1000 miles on it and am on this tank doing 27.3 when I got out of the car tonight but I've been doing a lot of harder driving on it seeing what it can do...

We got 38 MPG (imperial gallons) on a recent trip to the mountains. Saskatoon to Calgary to Revelstoke and return. We have a LT auto fairly well equipped using regular gas. There was NO pinging.

Man, I should've bought the HHR instaed of my Silverado. I get 15.7 combined with just under 2000 miles on it. Maybe in a couple of years I'll trade the Silverado in for a 2.0L supercharged HHR.

That is a picture of driver information display which isn't accurate , to accurately measure gas mileage you have to fill up the gas tank to a set point, such as second click on gas pump shutoff. Then drive till the tank is near empty, refill to same setpoint, second click on gas shutoff. Then divide gas input into mileage traveled since last gas fillup. This will equal MPG the Driver information display is an estimate of MPG! Usually off by a few MPG.

I have actually found that the DIC in the HHR has been on the low side (at least on mine) I am consistently averaging .5-1.4 higher than what the DIC says. All of my other vehicles have been on the optomistic side.

I'm gonna disagree...this is the less accurate measure of the two...the DIC has been pretty much spot on...and I reset it every tank allong with my trip A and average speed

How can actual input compared to miles traveled be less accurate than the on board display? Actual consumption compared to miles is the most accurate indication of mileage. If it works for you, OK, but the proper way is to measure actual input against actual miles traveled.

DIC uses an algoryth based on throttle inputs, driving speed and engine speed, and a few more inputs then calculates an estimated fuel economy. I use the same method parky uses and get between 23.5 to 24.8 MPG.

It's gotta be that the ocean breeze really affects fuel economy.
At only 800 miles on my 2LT, with 95% city driving in Miami, and most trips are less than 5 miles, I'm getting only 18 MPG.
Looking forward to 1st road trip to Disney to see how mileage is.

I got my car to say 99.9mpg last night. Right before I hit a huge hill i reset the mpg and put it in neutral. Its a shame thats not my avg mpg. I wouldnt care about gas at all.

'06 2.2 Auto - 24,000 miles -- I average 27/28 mpg that's mostly highway (65-75mph, some slowing to turn) and some in town driving.

Trip to Iowa a few weekends ago with a tail wind - all interstate driving 75-80 mph we got 32mpg.

Our two week old 2007 Silver LS with the 2.2 and auto has just over 600 miles on her now. In heavy start and stop Austin, Texas traffic with the A/C running full time actual mpgs as of this morning are up to 25.8...I'm very happy considering my other ride is a 1984 Chevy K5 blazer full size with working A/C and a small V8 that gets about 11 on the best of days. :guns:

Looks like the 2.2's are pretty consistent on the excellent fuel economy.

Copied from Gas Buddy...mpg is doing the math, not the DIC. Right now the DIC says 30.9 I did not reset it this time after filling...I'm impressed!

With 2000 miles on my 2007, 2.4 automatic with 17 inch wheels, I am getting 26-28 mpg local short trip driving and 29- 31 on the highway running at about 62 miles per hour, not bad but not great considering its compact size . My 12 year old 4 cylinder 5 speed Saturn will still get 40 mpg highway at 62 miles per hour. Maybe after more break in miles our HHR's mileage will improve.

Yes, but the laws of physics still apply... HHR is heavier and presents more wind resistance. For what it is, I think the HHR... your HHR... is getting respectable mpg

My combined highway/city gas mileage is a little over 28 mpg. I drive about 65 on the interstate and usually use the cruise control.

I'm completely satisfied with that.
