I've had a handfull of fast FWD's in the past and I was able to get very good at the start with them. My question is how do you guys run your cars? TC off, TC on, competition mode(launch control whatever), ESC off????? When I rip around on the street I usually have the ESC off unless I don't remember/feel like turning it off and then I'll just run around with everything on. I planned on turning everything off tonight and just try to manage the spin by feel but I just wanted to see what everyone else does. Oh and does anyone wanna play guess the time:nuts:??? My car's an 09 SS auto with HPTuners done by BYT with trans adjustments, Dejon catless DP, Magnaflow exhaust, Dejon I/C piping, and K&N kit. I'll post some times tomorrow and thanks for any info.

I tried just that last weekend at Englishtown in Jersey. It was the 1st time taking my SS to this track, so I ran it with stock tires. With ESC and T/C off I spun heavily in 1st and 2nd gears (I have an auto like yours and footbraked off the line, I'm still experimenting w/ launch styles) and ran a horrid time at 96.48mph. Granted the car was hot and my intake temp was at 120*... My 2nd run I left it in Comp. Mode and dropped a full second off my times still spinning heavily in 1st and modulating the throttle to try to control the wheelspin. I ran a 15.30 at 98.xx mph on that run. If I were able to control the tirespin I would have run mid 14's. I'd assume you'll be running mid/lo 14's with a decent launch and good track prep. Good luck!

I have a 5spd and run at the track in comp-mode for the no lift shift feature. My best time is in my sig and was done when I only had my stage 1 on stock tires.

My guess for you is 14.00 at 100mph. Good luck and keep us posted with times and slips.

Pretty good guess. I ended up finding out the best combination for me was to run in competition mode while footbraking at the line. My first run was pretty much straight off the highway so the car was hot and ran a 14.21, then a 14.11, then a 14.03. After sitting in line for a bit and cooling off I pulled a 13.92. Then after a car broke and I got to sit for a good while, I finally ended up running a 13.89@101.16. Not bad for the little grocery getter. I still had the car seat in the back and all...lol. Anyway, here's the numbers:
60' 2.27 (sucks)
330 6.011
1/8 9.054
MPH 81.50
1000 11.664
1/4 13.890
MPH 101.16

Most impressive. High 13's and can still take 4 guys comfortably to the golf course with all the fixins. Mustang GT what? :)

Excellent times! :one: We have similar mods save for the catless DP and the BYT tune. Now I wonder what I did wrong to run so slow? :red: Can someone point me in BYT's direction?? I know a tune is in order now, just gotta see if BYT or Trifecta suits me best. :D

I am installing the trifecta dual tune this weekend to my stock SS. I will let you know how it goes.

I sent you a PM with his contact info. The way I see it you can't go wrong. Pick up HPTuners used, pay BYT his fee, load his tune, and he'll update as needed for future mods. Kind of a no brainer. I'm glad I didn't go with something else.

that's how I roll too lol. granted I have a 5spd and I'm stock otherwise. I did my own tuning before byt even had his guides to lnf tuning. I gained quite a bit after he did some tweaking and I ran 13.66@105 with a car seat and the base for the other car seat lol. the gmpp kit stock really drops power around 5800, but that's around what I shift at with my tune. I hit the 6800 rev limiter in 3rd at 107-108 and I'm out of steam that high up. I shift to 4th around the low 90s but once again, I have the stick. I'm bet your pretty happy with my helpfulness in pointing you to nick huh? I know I have beat a bolt on staged tuned css coupe with my pre-byt tune. I also know that byt and terminator2(another lnf tuner) both beat 24psi trifecta cars on hpt tunes. not knocking trifecta, they have more tables unlocked and whatnot, but there's only 1 person that tunes those, vince.

This is probably a stupid question, but what can you do with hp tuners with a custom tune that say, trifecta gave you. I am ignorant on the subject.

can't tune over the trifecta tune unless its the specific trifecta+hpt from trifecta iirc. the thing with hpt is that imo vince can't tune as well for each vehicle. yes he is an awesome programmer and has definatly unlocked more than hpt currently does. idk if he just doesn't tune as agressive timing and maf wise, he definatly has the boost higher though which might make it where he doesn't put as much timing. don't get me wrong, the trifecta tunes are still better than the stock gmpp upgrade I'm sure, and as good as or better than some tuners with hpt, but there are just some great tuners out there that have hpt. get what I mean?

Nick's an awsome dude. I didn't even have to do anything other than save the stock tune and record some logs, he just takes remote control of my laptop and does everything while I'm on the phone with him, lol. As soon as I get my wideband I'm gonna have him redo my gto too. It's currently tuned with a predator and it seems kinda flat (not sure if I'm just used to it or what) but I'm sure he'll be able to get more out of it.

So would there be any point to getting that hpt software now that I have the trifecta tune? I would like to learn more about it and be able to play with the stuff on the laptop, but I dont want to mess around and grenade my engine, lol.

if you have the trifecta tune I wouldn't really mess with the hptuners. if you had gotten them both at the same time, then that wouldve worked but you have to have the specific trifecta+hpt from trifecta to beable to tune it with hptuners on top.

Yeah, Vince told me that if I do any mods to the car, that I could call him and he would update my tune for me and send me another one for free. So I guess I will just go that route after my turboback.
