Thinking about replacing my 2008 2lt 2.4 with a SS. MPG is one of my concerns. Hwy I was getting 30-34 with the 2.4 5spd. What can I expect on a steady cruise with the 2.0?
Thanks

Some hills on trip,I get around 30, reasonably flat, get up to 32mpg. I have the Trifecta tune, WOT, 26 lbs. boost it goes down to around 25 mpg. I have a 09 SS, and thats the numbers I've been getting. If you're thinking about a SS, do it, you'll be happy. Can't find a panel to replace the one I totaled last week so second choice is an SS. Thanks again sleeper 05-10-2010, 01:49 AM Insurance will likely be a bit more on an SS.... Just saying. thumper36 05-10-2010, 01:53 AM I am 27 with two speeding violations and my insurance is 98 a month. And I consistently see 32 mpg on the hwy with me, my wife and two kids. I get about 23 city around here. I hope this helps some. Hotrodbob 05-10-2010, 01:53 AM Insurance will likely be a bit more on an SS.... Just saying. Yep, but well worth it I'm told.;).. My next choice is a Vette....since the kid moved out.. I miss my '85 vette.. maybe it's time to go back in time... Hotrodbob 05-10-2010, 01:57 AM I am 27 with two speeding violations and my insurance is 98 a month. That makes my decision easier BoostedSS 05-10-2010, 01:58 AM I'm getting around 22-23 MPG city and that's beating on it here and there in my Automatic thumper36 05-10-2010, 02:01 AM Bob- I hope you find whatever makes ya happy !!! WOW, $1176 per year !!!!! I'm older w/ clean record. $300 per yr, w/$50. deductable. believe it or not, this is cheap for around here(the atlanta area). I had an 06 4runner before and we paid 130 a month and that was the cheapest around. I also forgot to mention that my wife is 23. I wish I paid you premium, thats a great price. krh0003 05-10-2010, 08:21 AM I generally see around 22-24 avg mpg...but then again it seems like my right foot is always touching the floor:nuts: Father Azmodius 05-10-2010, 08:36 AM 32+ on the highway, averaging 28 combined on my 55 mile roundtrip for work in DC area traffic. GMPP kit, and I put my foot in it, with shifts around 3500 ( 5000 when I'm into it ). terryk 05-10-2010, 01:05 PM 32+ on the highway, averaging 28 combined on my 55 mile roundtrip for work in DC area traffic. That's about what I am seeing. asanti 05-10-2010, 05:58 PM I'm getting an average of 25ish mph. That's 60-70 miles daily in my commute and I keep it at no less than 75-80 on the highway. You can see all the mods I have in my sig, but I do have a heavy right foot though!! Later Allex 87silver 05-10-2010, 06:21 PM 30 is about the best I have done; less than I expected. The result of my usual combination of mostly hwy with maybe 10/20% around town on business trips. Maybe if I focused on mpg, hwy would be better; I don't know for sure. About 24 around town though, which is better than I expected. (5 speed, LSD, Stage 1) HHR4JK 05-10-2010, 06:32 PM i have NEVER gotten over 29 mph on the highway with my 07 LT2 ... 2.4 hyperv6 05-10-2010, 06:33 PM I see 23-24 in summer around town and that is not resetting the MPG at each fill up. That is a real for the month reading. Highway I see around 30 MPG. Note the Turbo upgrade will increase the MPG by one MPG under normal driving. IT has been confirmed by an engineer from GMPD. gilbert 05-11-2010, 12:28 AM i get 23 city,30 highway.2010 ss with 3100 miles on my car right now.keeps getting better. Hotrodbob 05-11-2010, 01:06 AM Note the Turbo upgrade will increase the MPG by one MPG under normal driving. IT has been confirmed by an engineer from GMPD. What upgrade is that? Jaxon 05-11-2010, 03:58 AM turbo upgrade is called the gms1 or gmpp upgrade. I have gotten an average of just over 30mpg on my last 2 tanks since I've been keeping my foot out of it more lately. granted I hit 138 on the last tank of gas and just over 100 a couple times but nicely driving otherwise. the worst I've ever gotten out of a full tank is just under 25mpg but that was with a lot of over 100mph runs while working on my tune some. been too busy to mess with it lately. TomsHHR 05-11-2010, 09:31 AM Got 33 mpg on my trip back from Omaha to Superior WI last week and that was 87 octane running 74 mph with my Trifecta Tuned 2.4 Auto. pitbull76 05-13-2010, 07:38 AM What upgrade is that? Stage 1 GM performance upgrade. It might increase your mileage a tad, but it requires premium fuel. The SS without the upgrade can run on regular, but loses a little power. My mileage is right around 30 MPG on the highway. In mixed driving to work etc is 23-26 depending on the time of year and how hard I am on the car. Mileage is the same or better than my old 06 2.4(both were automatics). houseofbugs 07-28-2011, 12:47 AM I replaced my 2005 Vibe with a 2010 HHR SS after the Vibe got totaled. Gas mileage is about 30 on the highway if you can keep your foot out of the boost. ;) I don't regret it at all. It's a blast to drive! galtjunk 08-24-2011, 11:16 AM Stage 1 automatic shows 24mpg instant at 100+ mph. That's not too bad! Blue_SS 08-25-2011, 09:06 AM Stage 1 automatic shows 24mpg instant at 100+ mph. That's not too bad! Must be nice to have roads open enough to do this! There's too many people going slow in the left lane around here. |
