View Full Version : 1/4 mile finally
JJ's BLACK SS 05-23-2010, 01:58 AM i finally got the chance to go to the 1/4 i ran a 14.2 @ 98 mph :mad:but traction was still a issue i will not stop till i am in the low 13's. funny thing is i also took the jeep gcsrt8 it ran a 13.4 @102 and it got slower with the tune:confused: what are you guys running in the southern area wanting to know is it running good.
HHRSSouth 05-23-2010, 11:39 AM First and foremost get you some sticky tires.
In my opinion with the GMS1 tune and bolt ons maybe will yield you around 13.5 if your a good driver. To get into the low 13's high 12's your gonna need a more aggressive tune like Trifecta or HPT, full bolts ons and practice.
This is just my opinion, go prove me wrong :thumb:
JJ's BLACK SS 05-23-2010, 02:08 PM also what is holding me back is the auto
Kev&Chers{SS} 05-23-2010, 02:17 PM The key to very quick ET's is the launch. or "short time" Very little wheel spin and maximum forward movement takes practice. Ive dragraced motorcycles a long time it dont happen overnight, neither will myself to get into th 13's with my A/T. But I think I can do it on GM tune only {Gonna try anyway} lol
JJ's BLACK SS 05-23-2010, 06:36 PM towards the end of the night i was pulling a 2.10 60ft still spinning but not as bad
Jaxon 05-26-2010, 11:15 AM my best 60 in my 5spd is 2.2 but I have ran 13.66@105.
BlackScreaminMachine 06-09-2010, 09:33 AM Automatic cars are faster, and more consistant. You do not have the suspension or proper tire to try leaving like a hero on the stick. FWD is not the best platform but in the end you can be fast, question is do you want to chance blowing the half shafts?
Good runs btw.
Have you weighed it?
Jaxon 06-09-2010, 11:40 AM autos are not faster, just faster at shifting than most people. they increase weight and driveloss. I am sure your ta is really nice nonetheless, but I could outlaunch most stock auto cars in my cobra. also the gearing of the sticks are usually a little better and don't run out of useable gear as quick. my ss should weigh in around 3200, havnt weighed it yet, my cobra was weighing in at 3300 but na sucks when it comes to stock longblocked 4vs. shoulda bought a 6spd ta instead. for a fun car that's decently quick, I love rowin gears :)
kkerr2007 09-15-2011, 06:00 PM went to the track for the first time with my hhr ss 08 completely stocked and ran a 15.003 at 93.00 mph and my 60 was 2.26...is that bad???

yeah the trap is a little high and the mph is a little low. not too familiar with the auto's performance stock nor its capabilities though. 2.26 is about as good as its gonna get on street tires. timeslip????
foolmoon_design 09-17-2011, 07:48 AM The best 60ft I'v turned is a 1.79. the best reaction time .159. Best 1/8 mile. 84mph, with a 9.5xx time. Spins up through 3rd sometimes. Best times were gotten from a slow start. It is so hard to feather these cars.... no lag my ass! the power is either there or not, we have some pretty sucky rehostats, IMO. The biggest problem I've found is how a FWD stages. The "patch" is about 8-10 feet behind you. I grab like a mofo coming out of the box, then spin city at the line.
RobSSTurbo 09-17-2011, 09:45 AM When I get some dr's Ill be hitting the track soon.
asanti 09-23-2011, 12:48 PM You can see my best time to date in my sig; that was on street tires and fully weighed down (1/2 tank of gas, stereo system w/ Dynamat) on 8/26. I'll keep you posted as (weather permitting) I'll be at Etown next weekend and HOPEFULLY should hit mid/lo 13's.
Later

Been racing fwd for several years and that 60 with out slicks is dang near impossible may need to learn your secret ;) I'm no slouch 13.11 on my SS two years ago and I still don't think any one is close and that was with a 2.2 60"
