I know that they race the Cobalts with some mighty big horsepower, and mighty big slicks on the front. Does anyone know what trans they use in them ? still fwd

for automatics, stock its the same transmission the 4T64-e

As for race trans generally the guts are upgraded and not a cheap job.

As for handling the shock/60 foot, that has much to do with the half shafts being used.

the autos are 4t45e, there is a lnf cobalt that just swapped an auto in with 65 internals but he's having some issues. I'm sure the real fast cobalts are using purpose built transmissons. the lnf halfshafts have made it into the low 12s and iirc even into the 11s, they are very very beefy compared to the lsj halfshafts.

Edit, typo. 4T45e and agree most transmissions tend to be purpous built.
