Hi All,
I've read that the towing capacity for the HHR is 1000lbs.
I'm wondering if any one got a H2R with a hitch already attached or has purchased an aftermarket tow hitch. Maybe it's too early to look for these parts? I'm looking for a 2 in tow hitch to carry my bikes on road trips.

If any one has heard of anything or seen anything. Let me know. I would really appreciate it.

It's too early in production cycle to expect much in accessories, I'm sure there will be such items later in production run. It will be a popular car.

This is true.

I’m going to email all the vendors I know regarding the tow hitch and intakes (asked about earlier). Do you guys have anything more you’d want to know before I email all of them?

My buddy works for the company that owns Reese and Draw-Tite. They are currently using my HHR for their mock up to develop a towing system. I am guessing it will be at least another month before they are ready to start production since the prototype hitch is being installed this morning. i will keep you all posted.

Thats awesome ohsolo! Let me know how it comes out. I'm hopping I can get one by the end of the month. Taking a biking trip to New Mexico and I don't really want to put the bikes on the top the car. I would much rather have a hitch rack.

Well the estimated production date is not for about 2 months I am told. The hitch will be a Class 1 hitch (small receiver). So, looks like you are not going to get it by the end of the month, but it will be coming.

Thanks for 411 ohsolo. Guess I'll have to wait. Put some pics up when you have yours set up. :) I'd like to check it out.

Hi All, Just wanted to let you know that e-trailer has got hitches avaible for the HHR sometime this week of 10/3. Kind of too late for me though. I'm road trippin this week and I'll be fitting my bikes in the back for now. I'll take a count of how many HHR's I see and I'll try to take pictures of them too. :)

If you want to keep bikes inside and secure, this is a great item!

I've had one for years in my Dodge Caravan and plan to use it in my (soon to get) HHR.

Great people to deal with, too!

Thanks for the idea Joe, The space in this car is kind of small in height so I had to remove my handle bars in order for it to fit standing up. You might want to mesure the size of your bike just incase your planning on adding this type of carrier. I appreciate the info :)

By the way, you'll dig your new ride

Note that the BikePorter is a fork mount. The front wheel needs to come off. Height should NOT be an issue here.

There's plenty of room for both my road & mtb bikes with the 2nd seat folded. Already measured! :D
