Everyone, if you are curious about the progress towards the Mid-Central Regional Run, check out the new threads at the Mid-Central regional forum. I have provided a sponsor run down so you will have an idea of the door prizes and what is going to be in the goodie bags. I also gave a quick run down on other things going on, so check it out and mark your calendar for a nice drive in the heartland... :thumb:

Okay another update, things are changing quickly now, so ya' gotta' follow closely and hold on tight!!! My wife hit the locals today and the O'Reilly's Autoparts store donated a couple of hats, a clock, a diecast '56 Thunderbird and 8 small packs of ArmourAll Extreme Tire Shine, Plaza Tire a local tire and wheel shop donated 10 free wheel balance and rotations and a local paint and body supplier donated a kit of professional strength automotive cleaners and treatments, so all of that gets tossed in the door prize basket. The goodie bags are looking good, now the door prizes are building up, people are committing to making the drive...hey I think we got a run here...why not come on over, up, down whichever geographic direction works...There is a chance that we might even have a few small custom things being sold there...you just can't be sure what you might miss!!! Seriously the run is looking good and we will be pleased to meet any of you that would like to come...Contact me if you have any questions...

Scale, One of our own has made the front page (Forum ) Even if by accident.
The Z-Man had a run in with a piece of debri on our WELL maintained roadway. He`s OK , but veh. in shop. He`s still looking forward to attending the RUN. Send your Prayers and Thoughts Out to a Really Cool Guy. He`ll be there even if I have to bring him...
Now, Who else needs help finding Sunnyland Church of the Nazarene?

PS. I was thinking about the low response to our RUN, and trying to find a reason. (Good/BAD ) I think it`s the no tabacco/alcohol restriction. Just my thought... Could be wrong/off base.
Anyone got any thoughts ? This is THE (Year One Owners ) SUMMER Event, Certainly The Scaleguy has put in 110%. Thanx Man, and any of your Helpers.

I did wonder about that when I saw that on the flyer. Is that something the church requested?

I still have trouble beleaving that would keep folks away!

Its not like we'll be at the show all day!!;)

I was just trying to figure out how there were so many views, and so few replies. This event was conceived quite a while ago , so taking one (1 ) day from an entire summer, (a saturday even ) to meet up with new friends, seems a little odd. I don`t think the price of gas is prohibitive, UNLESS, you`re planning on getting a bicycle soon. It`s never gonna be cheap again !!! We`ve got probably the most fuel efficient veh. out there ,sans a Hybred.. Can`t explain the response or lack of... B/B

The smoking/alcohol ban is out of respect and by request of the church...sorry about that. As we begin to plan the second run we will use a better located venue, with less restrictions, I just responded to the avaliability and as a non-smoker, I will admit that I didn't think it all the way through, but my wife smokes so even she has to bite the bullet...The alcohol issue not only pleases the church, but keeps everyone safe on the cruise...we will be able to find places where we can throw back a couple of cold ones as the day progresses...Truthfully, the resonse is pretty good, thanks to lots of work from all of you, we are taking about a run featuring a first year vehicle with only about 4-5 months lead time and we are on track to have possibly 20 trucks, so I feel like we are getting a good start...now next year we will have to do better, but we can do that by learning from this run, having planning sessions and having the additional time to get the run in magazines, run listings and out to other clubs. I will admit to taking the easy way and putting the show close to home, I think that we will have to come up with a better location which will benefit the guys out west and provide the freedom that some are looking for...Ultimately those of us who do come are going to have fun, meet great people and see some nice rides...Okay enough from me, I have to contact radio stations and other media to see who will give us coverage before and after the run...see ya' soon!!!

I am a smoker and have no problems with the no smokin/boozin thingy if i get that hard up i can take a short stroll for a smoke!! hey scale let me know what you have in mind for a pre show run I have a real twisted work schedule, and have a car show this weekend wth my chevelle to attend but maybe next wend/thursday or the mond/tues after that?? You did a great job with the run Pat wish i could have been more help but crap at work and the wreck and all the other drama!! Any ideas on a local for next year??diff state?further south? north?OH wait i guess im getting ahead of us!! later !!

"school, you aren't ahead of yourself, I would like to have the first meeting about next year at the run, I think we should consider another location to be fair and to add to the experience. I am still going to ask to be ridiculously involved, especially chasin' sponsors and doing other stuff, but for me to act parental would be stupid, selfish and detrimental to making the run better. I used Peoria because it made things simple due to the lack of time, I would like to see a more interesting place...ie I belonged to a truck club who goes to the dells every year, so if we are successful in this first run, we should be motivated enough to really work at something special. This run should just be our springboard to get better...Oh and believe me, the help that I have received from all of you has been great and is very appreciated. Back to the meeting idea, we also need to talk about solidifying the club issue, I want to stay firmly attached to the forum, but if we can do something to make us even stronger and more involved then I am interested, plus I am just a car club type, you guys are simply my kind of people !!! Again more opinions please.

hhr car club sounds good to me! im in a chevelle club as well and it has alot of perks! hey Pat If you would like to meet and hang on next wensday (the 2nd)evening I could probably swing it or the following tuesday(the 8th) would be fine as well! as far as the driftwood deal if the guy wants to be a part of our club and wants to enter why not let him? If he has the money for a extreme moded car well so be it. I have competed with 100,000 dollar camaros and chevelles in car shows with my 10,000 dollar malibu and watched the more money guys win trophies and thought that that wasnt fair but the true fun of a car is in driving it cleaning it people askin about it (meeting new friends) with it and well while the more money cars won trophies alot of folks at the shows told me they prefered my car a very clean reasonibley priced car that could be enjoyed (acctually driven on the road not just on and off a trailer!!) and could tell from talkin to me that i acctually enjoyed the car fixin it workin on it etc.. and the other guys with the 100g plus cars usually didnt know alot about them other than what the shop that built them for them told them they did to it!! so i say let the guy in the show hell you can put me (with my dealer woody kit) in his class with him I dont need a trophy just family and good friends!! (did that sound like a beer comercial??) LOL Well let me know what day for a pre run meet would be for you scale!!! Oldschool out!!

Okay here is an update, the trophies are cool, but we have suffered a glitch with the dash plaques...so how can we make lemonade from this lemon?...How about since we aren't going to have the dash plaques until after the run, I stop the order and I think that we take a group shot of the HHRs that make the run and make that pic the dash plaque design...Agreed? I am going to make up the goodie bags this weekend, maybe I can post a pic so you can see what you're going to get, it is kinda' dependent on whether or not I can find the cameras !!! Moving sucks...maybe a pic or two of the door prizes too!!!

I don't mind the Smokers as long as they are smoking out side, Now the Booz is another thing and I do drink, but some of us need a drink every now & then.
We always have some thing to drink at out out doors events on the Church grounds. I am going on the 12th to meet my new friends and not to drink.
But then again I can have fun no matter what. I am sure others mught feel the same.

Hey Stevflo, whats your schedule looking like so we can lay down the stripes? Zman, thanks , I didn't like putting up restrictions, but in respect of the church I knew that we could deal with the few restictions that were necessary...I am just excited about meeting the people behind the names and posts...it's too bad that everyone can't be here. I am really pleased with the general feeling from everyone of excitement for the 12th to get here...

Pat, doesn't look like we can get it done. I've been down sick since Saturday afternoon. Did the roadeo yesterday only because I was the only one who knew how to set it up and then thankfully my son was with me so he had to drive me home. Went to work this afternoon for a couple of hours, will be heading to Michigan tomorrow afternoon and won't get back until Wed. evening and I am busy on Thursday evening so the only day I have left before the run is Friday.

Toms has suggested the Dells for next year's run. Great idea, how about others I know that the resort areas of Missouri were suggested for the first run, are any of the southern riders interested in tryting to put something on there? Hey you western guys, how about it, got any cool places that you are willing to suggest. I would like to see something different, than Peoria for next year, kinda' resort like more fun stuff. I still want to be involved and will doeverything that I can to help, but let's have more ideas. Post them here or bring them to the meeting at the run...

Well this might work out, but I have to play it one day at a time. My wife's aunt died and the funeral may be Friday so it depends on whether it is then and/or when it is over. I'm in Michigan right now and should be leaving here around 230, hope to be home by 630 so I don't know if i'll make tonight (Metamora) or not. If it looks like I can make it tonight, i'll give you a call, otherwise go ahead without me. I don't know if i'll be able to get back on the web again until tonight. If you want to call me, i'll PM you my cell phone number.

Kind of appropriate my 500th post is the first updtae after the Mid-Central Regional...WOW!!! I met some of the greatest people that any one could ever hope for...Everyone was fanatstic !!! I will let you decide for yourselves after reading the posts that will follow in the next few days, but in my opinon we had a monsterous success, 15 HHRs, including our special guest "Driftwood"(thanks to Black Beauty..aka The Chitown Hustler)...Yeshua and his wife did very well in the trophy department, between them they managed to go one and two in their class and Mike won Peoples' Choice while Bonnie won Best of Show. Our sponsors came through with nice door prizes, the goodie bags were great and our pot luck was delicious...eventhough there was a gumbo sighting all over the interior of my HHR (story to follow later). The cruise was simply "off the hook" We rolled into the Morton cruise with 12 HHRs and had everyone's attention, parked all the way down one city block and walked around checking out some very nice rides...the HHRs were busy being photographed and drew a lot of attention...you just can't leave those HHRs alone for one minute !!! We made one more pass through their parade area then headed out for Metamora, the ride was great, it was so cool to look in my mirror and see an unbroken line of HHRs stretching back behind me. The locals were busy watching us and they were obviously enjoying what they were seeing. We rolled into Didley's burger joint and the place was packed and the reaction to all of the people there was fantastic Me, Yeshua and Black Beauty even ambushed a new HHR owner and her family (her husband was driving but he said it was hers so I gotta' call them like I see them), hooking them up with the forum information, more information than they were even ready for concerning their HHR and we even gave them a goodie bag, (I had a few extras...) We had more food and just sat around talking like we had all been together for years and by the time we started to wind down and make our way back to our homes, it was 9:00pm with some of the people facing 3 hour drives if they weren't staying the night. The forum will see tons of pics in the next days or and I willl put together a full report so kep an eye out for the news...Thanks to ChevyHHR.net for bringing this group together and for allowing us such a great forum to base all of these new friendships on and to everyone who attended the run...THANK YOU !!! it was the most fun that I have ever had at an automotive event...in my life !!! Oh and fear not there will be an '07 run, we started planning as soon as the '06 was in the books...needless to say you might want to kep track of the information because judging by the way '06 went you might not want to miss '07!!!

GDZHHR, you slipped in that shot...but lets remember no one else has the gumbo accent in their interior like I do...that had to be a plus in the eyes of the judges...hahaha. The show here at work yesterday was an non-awards show, but I got so many comments about the HHR and how good the black looked...I spent all of Wednesday night detailing and the "Minister of Sinister" looked pretty doggoned good...Note, the new name of my HHR is in no means negative towards religion, more playing off of all of the "hearse" comments that I get...I hope that there is no misunderstanding there...

Everyone who attended the Mid-Central regional, I really need your opinion, I have two pics chosen for the Dash plaque and I need to get this sucker ordered...PLEASE give me your opinion on your choice of pic ASAP, because Deerman has made us cds of the run pics to go with the dash plaques (Thanks Deerman)...The pics under consideration are #1 on Deerman's gallery, the shot of the group with "Bob" HHR in the background and #2 on Black Beauty's gallery, the shot of the line of trucks as we waited on the road to move into Morton...If you guys would send your vote by Friday evening I could order these Saturday...Thanks everyone...note if you have an especially great choice not listed then get it in for consideration, we really need to get this completed...

group shot

Z-Man
08-25-2006, 07:25 AM
Group Shot is my VOTE:thumb:

I think from now on when ever we take a group Photo it should be with the HHR Owners and their family members who attend the event. They to have taken time off to attend our HHR Family Event. If we are Chevrolet HHR Family then we are a Family and not just the HHR Owner or driver. I have been thinking about this since I have been looking at every ones photos in the gallery and I have notice that our family members were there and are not in the Group Photo and I do not think this is right, they took off of work or they took time away from others things to attend this event with thier loves ones and I think some were along the line we for got about them. This is just something I have been thinking about. I hope other members all over the world think the same as I do. I my self did not think of the Z-family for the group photo, and I noticed it when viewed the Gallery photos and seen the group photo.

Please do not take this the wrong way, its just something that I have noticed in the photos that every one took and then looking at our group photo.
