Can anyone tell me if there is a rear disc brake kit available for the HHR? If so, would this kit work with the anti-lock brakes?

RSM Racing makes one - for $1000. See it HERE (http://www.z-spec.com/catalog.htm).

You should check with them about ABS compatibility.

Hope it helps,

No secrets to tell......yet! :D

If/when we do - it'll be for much less than $1000.

Wait wait they want 350.00 for that intake WTF! you can make that at intakehoses.com i mean at leas the CGS one looks nice and has marking that it is not just BUILT by anyone. Seriously

The CGS intake also FITS the HHR. That pic is an intake on a Cobalt (note the underhood supports), - not an HHR.

Yeah, $350 - what a deal!

I advise against RSM racing. The company has messed up so many times with the j-body community it is insane. Just my 2 cents.

Rear disc brakes were one of the options I wish that we could have got on our HHR. I do most of the work on our cars and can not believe that rear disc brakes were not an option. I hate working on drum brakes...

I have checked with GM about using the disk-brakes from the SS Cobalt. The parts will fit but, it's even more expensive than the after market kits. The parts dept. quoted about $1150 for hubs, rotors, and calipers.

I'd love some rear discs. Our drums a rusty and look stupid at best:(
I miss the days of rims and hubcaps. Remember them?

I dented rims and replaced them much cheaper than these alloy thingies. Though when I scraped the alloys on my SHO, I lived with the scrape for ten more years. Each day I'd get in the car ,look at the damage and be upset with myself. I guess I like punishment!!

Did the same to my HHR , but will be getting an extra set of factory wheels from another member here for a decent price.
But I digress.........

I'm thinking about painting the rear drums, but why bother. Winter is almost here in the Northeast and the salt will take the paint off I would imagine in an exposed area like the drums. Maybe I'm wrong. Would a decent drum paint job last or is it something one must repeat.........?

On the rear disc front. I'll wait for Mike at SoCal to come up with something before I make any moves. He comes through with stuff that really adds utility and style to our HHR. My favorites from him are the anti sway bar and the Australian window vents.

If I remember mike, you don't use TC and ABS, but compatibility in those areas for rear discs will be important for many of us. As our HHR is a family car, I think those features are useful on it. Still there are times ABS can make you wish you could turn it off:eek:
