Ok, if you're on a limited budget what would you do? I purchased a 2006 HHR (Black) LT2. It's only a week old. I traded in my 2002 Chevy Suburban and I'm still trying to get use to the interior size thing but lovin' the gas mileage. I purchased a set of "new" Zyoxx Z8 18" wheels with the Black inserts. I can either purchase the CGS Intake and IMCO T924 Muffler or purchase a set of 235/40R18 tires for the wheels. Do I go for the looks or do I go for the performance?

With those rims I'd go for the tires man. Then, start to save your money for the Imco and CGS :)

Well, if you got the rims, get the tires. It already gets good gas mileage so the other stuff can probably wait a bit. By the way, those rims are some of the best I've seen! :thumb:

Rims and tires.

From the looks of things, the HHR can be made a little "faster", but it will never be "FAST". Even if/when a turbo comes out, the HHR is a heavy car to get rolling.

I agree that since you already have the wheels, go ahead and get the tires, but I went the other direction. I have added the sway bar and CGS Intake, not to spin my tires but improve a bit on performance, body roll and maybe gas mileage. I will also say that I added the CGS for looks so I could see the engine. I am very happy with what I have done so far. Just my :2cents:

Get the tires. You can always do the rest later. :thumb:

First off... :welcome:

With wheels like that, I'd DEFINITELY go for rubber! (Nice lookin' :thumb:). As I'm sure the adjustment from your former ride is a BIG one, there's a LOT the HHR offers that keeps surprizing/satisfying as time goes on. It really is a versitile (big) little vehicle.

As for future mod's... you've always got a birthday, holiday, or ... Thanksgiving:confused: to provide a list of parts to add performance .

Lastly... the IMCO is very reasonably priced, especially if you can do the work yourself! As for the intake, etc... your gas mileage will probablly go DOWN  (foot gets heavier).

Be sure to post pic's when those doughnuts are mounted! And be sure to keep your stockers around for the brutal winter months ahead!!!

Hey Mike...I thought you would say the intake for sure for a sale  But you're going to get the sale anyways in the future! A definite great value for the CGS Intake from SoCal :D Keep the price slashing and free shipping going! Thanks Rod "Man"

my first big purchase were rims and tires. Everything else came after that. I'm trying to do looks/performance mods at the same time.

If you already have the rims, what good will they be if you get the CGS? Get the tires for the rims!!!:thumb: Then start saving for the CGS.

Ok, I'm goin for the tires on Saturday! Thanks everyone for the advice. I'll post some pics next week. I am doing some appearence mods throughout the weekend and I will do a before and after pics shot. I've only had the car 2 weeks and I'm excited. I will keep you all updated and again, big thanks for the support! Rod "Man"

Okay, now let me be the stick in the mud. I'm old school and I would do the performance goodies first[actually what I did] then do the other stuff. Bigger tires and wheels means more weight which, in turn, means a slower vehicle. Me, I'm trying to go the other way.

I go for the 'surprise car'...

Something that out preforms what it looks like...
aka: the junker that blows your doors off...

...for the SciFi Fans of "Dr Who" 'The Tardis' looks like a 'Police Box' but it sure can get from one place to another very fast...

That's definitely a dilemma. Unless you've already got tires to put on the rims...then I'd go with tires. The CGS is also a great addition...and should definitely be next on the list. :thumb:

I wonder if they make'em in 17" for those who want to stay in the 17" realm?
