About a week ago my XM radio quite working. It works fine on AM, FM and CD, but when I go to the band selection there is no XMR?

If I attempt to enter an XM station, say XM-121 the message on the screen is "XM no available" I stopped by the dealer today and the sales manager said it is simple we will just go out and select XM band.

Well, it wasn't that simple as there isn't one. Now yes it worked fine for the first month.

I have an appointment next Wednesday to have it looked at, but wondering if anyone had any suggestions?

I know this is going to sound like a stupid question but I have to ask. Did you just have the trial of XM that they provide with the purchase of the HHR or did you sign up for full service? I beleive a month is all they give you with the vehicle.

I don't listen to the radio so I didn't get XM. Even though there are no commercials you still have to listen to crap that you don't want to hear.

Right off the bat, my XM, only worked on one side of the car, even when adjusting balance of the speakers. AM, FM worked fine both sides, hum!!!!

Week later got into service dept. and they checked wiring and said that there was a loose connection, thought they said XM anntenna. The said all they had to do was re-connect XM jack or connection, and that it should not and was not a big problem or defect. Since then, 4 weeks, no problems and works fine!!

May help, keep us posted.

Thanks

This could be the problem (?) Just wondering when you are in the car and press the BAND button do you have AM,FM,XM selections. I think it should be that way, but seeing mine isn't working I cannot check it.

Once Mr. Goodwrench looks at it I am just sure it will be fixed immediately.

I lost my Free XM service today. While listing to one of the stations it said updateing and there goes my Free Service From 8/13 to 11/23. It was good while it lasted. I'm going to hold off awhile before I get it again. Baseball season is a while away.

I'm not a big fan of XM. I'll stick with my mp3 player. I know what I like to listen to more than any radio station.

Why listen to what you don't want to hear, turn the station, that is what the knob id for!!!!

I personally am likely the XM, gives specicific music genres and more selection, also if you are traveling the stations are always avaialable and you know what you have. There are commercials, though, not as frequent.

Too each his own, and Captian, just playing with you!!!

Its kind of like when I listen to music choice. Even if I'm listening to a type of music I like I still hear stuff I dont like. But at the same time one can argue that you get introduced to new music that you will like. XM is cool but its something I thought I didn't need.

Took the HHR into the dealer today and they fixed the radio. The problem was in the fuse / wiring. They removed the fuse and put it back in and the XM portion of the radio started working.

Only comment from the service manager was that if it fails again then it might be with the radio and they will replace it.

I had gone into the fuse box and pushed down on all of the relays earlier and all of them were not seated properly. Life goes on.
