View Full Version : Low profile floor jack, a must have!
SindyDix 07-30-2006, 01:57 PM While at SoCalHHR's place not to long ago, Mike showed Mr. B a must have for those with lowered HHR's!
While looking in the Sunday paper advertisements Mr. B found that very low profile floor jack Mike showed him.
What an excuse to do the tire rotation today! Went to our local Pep Boys and bought the proper tool to do the task!
The Pep Boys price was $89.99 with a $10.00 mail in rebate. (rebate offer good until 08/26/2005)
Here is some info:
This 1 1/2-ton all-aluminum jack with fully anodized finish has all the features of a professional aluminum race jack, and at a value price! Plus, it's lightweight for easy transport and positioning.
1 1/2-ton capacity
Minimum height of only 3.3in. is ideal for low-clearance vehicles
Maximu, lift of 14.8in. takes only 10 strokes
Model T815005L
What this first picture doesen't show and I really like is the rubber sleeve on the handle so it wont damage the side of your HHR.
Thanks MIke! :one:

TX-HHR 07-30-2006, 02:05 PM That's cool...great price too:one:
A must have if you're lowered. I can't live without my floor jack, was wondering what I'd have to do once I lower, my regular jack just barely fits under my stock height HHR.
courthousedeb 07-30-2006, 02:12 PM Nice find Sindy....and a good price for an aluminum jack. :thumb: Looks like it will work great for the lowered HHR's too.
Firewatcher 07-30-2006, 02:39 PM Sears carries one that is quite similar

They also carry a sporty little desk top racing jack for 20 bucks. Saw that this morning while ar Sears Hardware.
riverwind 07-30-2006, 03:07 PM Great info and recommendation SindyDix. I hope to be able to "praise the lowered" soon.
SindyDix 07-30-2006, 03:15 PM No time wasted here!

larryv 07-30-2006, 05:38 PM  Hello, I use these low profile jacks from Sears and they work perfectly. From the lowered HHR to our other cars you can't go wrong with the Sears warranty. Good luck

I drive up on four 2" X 12" X 16" boards and it gives me the extra space
to get my jack under the vehicle.:thumb:
fenris222 07-31-2006, 08:41 AM Nice bit of info, and some other good points for alternatives. Thanks everyone.

Craftsman does have some nice low-profile jacks. Watch for the Holiday and tool sales and you can get them at great prices.
Firewatcher 07-31-2006, 09:25 AM If you need a nice set of ramps, find a sawmill. We had a couple of sets made when I worked at the fire department. The prominent use was to back onto them with the inside wheels so we could install chains on the outside tires. (noisy things on the tires for traction in snow!) They were a bit bulky but took the weight. And very affordable as they were from fresh cut oak.
DARK AGE 53 07-31-2006, 09:31 AM Because it only has a single front roller wheel you want to make sure it's on level ground when using it, if not one of the rear wheels could lift off the ground ( which could be unsafe ).
ANR HHR 07-31-2006, 10:54 AM What's up with the crome grill? Thought your grill was white and no bowtie...
SindyDix 07-31-2006, 11:34 AM I wasent happy with the color match. I'm having it repainted.

As a side note; I would NEVER jack up an HHR on anything BUT level ground. The "E" brake on these cars is cheezy at best, I wouldnt' trust it to hold the car on any type of incline. In our shop (level floor), we have no problems using the single front roller jack - works a charm!
dan-d 08-01-2006, 11:28 PM Good price on these Sindy. My shop has 4 of these aluminum jacks and we've been using them now about 4 years. They're great lightweight jacks and have served us well. -Dan
