Just released: New CGS Motorsports Axle-Back Exhaust System for the Chevy HHR. The system is ALL Stainless Steel, and uses the new CGS all-welded stainless high flow muffler, mandrel-bent stainless steel tubing, and a polished stainless steel tip. The system gives an increase in power and also gives you a healthier growl compared to the stock exhaust. It uses the factory exhaust hanger locations. By making this an axle-back system CGS has been able to offer the benefits of a full stainless steel cat-back system at a much lower cost. You also retain your head pipe and built-in resonator to keep the interior sound level at a reasonable level. The CGS system is all bolt-on meaning you can install it yourself!

Wow...that's mighty tempting to those of us who like chrome. I'm happy with what I have now...but one never knows when this little lady will change her mind.

I'll see what I can do about getting a sound file for the CGS system. The problem with recording the exhaust is that so much depends on mic placement. You can make a bad exahust sound good, or a good exhaust sound bad. True, something is better than nothing, but to get the real effect of an exhaust system you need to hear it in person. Even with a good recording you still need a decent sound system to reproduce the sound, especially the low frequencies.

I Dont Know Why Anyone Would Spend That Kind Of Money On A Axle Back Kit.... You Could Have A Quality Shop Build You A One Off Cat-Back System With All New Pipe And A Nice Tip For Around The Same Money... I Had A Bolt On Name Brand Cat Back... I Had A IMCO Muffler On Stock Pipe, And Now I Have A Full Custom Cat Back, IMO Its The Only Way To Go.. Better Power, Better Sound, And You Have All The Options.. Just My .02$....

I agree in principal, as thats what we did on Mitzi's baby, though we just went axel-back as well as the shop felt the oem resonator was "as good" as any of the major brands resonators, so we just did the muffler.

That said, for those who really want a bolt-on, DIY product, the kits make a good alternative. Many people want to only have themselves touch their vehicle.
