If they don't ship it to your door...just where do they ship it to? Or do they mean delivered to your door? Can local AZ Residents Pickup Product and save on Shipping? No you will not save any money from picking it up from us or having it shipped directly to your door due to the fact that most items are shipped from various warehouses from across the nation. captain howdy 07-31-2006, 11:21 PM I thought SoCal said AEM wasn't going to make a CAI for our vehicle. courthousedeb 07-31-2006, 11:28 PM OK...I'm going to ask a dumb question. What's the difference between a Cold Air Intake (CAI) and a Short Ram Air Intake system? They have them listed as 2 different things on their site and the one for the HHR is a Short Ram. Lee3333 07-31-2006, 11:44 PM I'ld love to see an actual photo of the HHR system (notice that the ad says the HHR system may differ from the picture shown). TX-HHR 08-01-2006, 12:01 AM OK...I'm going to ask a dumb question. What's the difference between a Cold Air Intake (CAI) and a Short Ram Air Intake system? They have them listed as 2 different things on their site and the one for the HHR is a Short Ram. I think the difference is the word games people play with exactly where the filter gets located. :breakdanc inarmywpride 08-01-2006, 01:58 AM i would like to see more info on it.... price and numbers when they come out SoCalHHR 08-01-2006, 02:10 AM In an email I received on Friday, May 26, 2006 3:22 PM: __________________________________________________ _____________ Mike, At this time AEM has decided not to pursue the HHR air intake system. This includes the 2.2 and 2.4 A/T or M/T. Unfortunately there is a small percentage of kits that make it through R&D that do get the axe. Benjamin Lascelles Performance Parts Engineer Advanced Engine Management Inc. __________________________________________________ ______________ I guess things change? Anyway, if it's for real both Charles and I will be getting free intakes as our vehicles were both used for prototyping, development, and fit testing. Will keep you all posted... SoCalHHR 08-01-2006, 02:13 AM *BTW: It is not a "CAI" (cold air intake), the intake shown is a short ram - meaning it derives it's air from "hot" underhood air. A true "CAI" pulls supposedly "cool" air from outside the engine compartment and is fully sealed from angine heat to do so. Really a moot point on the HHR as dyno testing has shown that the Ecotec actually makes more hp at hotter temps. Just another way this vehicle has defied the status quo regarding what works with engine mods. If the AEM happens, it will be interesting to see just how it performs... GDZHHR 08-01-2006, 09:39 AM You know I'm not slamming anything Mike, but would that mean the the CGS is closer to being a short ram than a CAI? Firewatcher 08-01-2006, 09:52 AM Too bad. My son installed an AEM on his Dodge 4X4 wit' da hemi. Improved life just a bit for him. SoCalHHR 08-01-2006, 11:09 AM You know I'm not slamming anything Mike, but would that mean the the CGS is closer to being a short ram than a CAI? The CGS is not billed as a CAI, never was. By design, it would be considered a "long ram" intake as it's runner length is almost 3 times that of the AiRaid or K&N Units. Bottom line is that their design works the best (of the current crop of intakes), on the HHR. The only HHR intake currently on the market that "calls itself" a CAI is the AiRaid system. However it is not a true cold air intake; as it is not fully sealed and draws lots of hot engine air from the radiator area (the whole front of the unit is open). Hope it helps, GDZHHR 08-01-2006, 06:02 PM Thanks for clearing it up for me Mike!:thumb: SoCalHHR 08-01-2006, 06:48 PM Anytime bro! GDZHHR 08-01-2006, 07:05 PM Mike, did ya see the pics (http://chevyhhr.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3601) of the triple lakes on Bonnie's car I posted? The 70" lakes look great!:one: Thanks! EL_REY 08-01-2006, 09:00 PM AEM ah yess hope they make it and it gets dyno'd by someone here, like SoCalHHR from the past year or so when iw as reading on which intake to get for my Harley F150, ive always read that the AEM company beat everyones out...lets see if its true SoCalHHR 08-01-2006, 09:59 PM Mike, did ya see the pics (http://chevyhhr.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3601) of the triple lakes on Bonnie's car I posted? The 70" lakes look great!:one: Thanks! I missed them originally Mike (broken foot, meds...etc.), but I just dug around and found them. Looking good! :thumb: I would really like to see a closeup of the graphic at the end of the pinstripe, and I'm sure many others here would as well. When you have the time... ivtech 08-02-2006, 12:32 AM I called Ben a week ago and no call back and no news on thier web site. I like typing and reading aftermymeds!! SoCalHHR 08-02-2006, 12:53 AM I called Ben a week ago and no call back and no news on thier web site. I like typing and reading aftermymeds!! I sent Ben a very nice email asking for our free intakes too Charles! :D No reply either...perhaps a call is in order? gotta go - I just took my meds too! http://www.wolfpackcc.com/forum/images/smilies/brownbag.gif crowbar 08-13-2006, 03:46 PM looks like price 190.00 http://performance.drivewire.com/airintake/chevrolethhrcoldairintake.html?source=GBChevroleth hrcoldairintake wheelsee 08-14-2006, 10:00 AM anyone ordered one from this place...I mean there is nothing about it on AEM's site... -wC SoCalHHR 08-14-2006, 01:35 PM It's not even available yet! Here's a copy of an email I got from my contact at AEM: __________________________________________________ ______________ A good way to take orders on a part that hasn’t been released. Benjamin Lascelles Performance Parts Engineer Advanced Engine Management Inc. __________________________________________________ _______________ They just want to get your $$$. :nono: courthousedeb 08-14-2006, 01:38 PM Wow...now that's very interesting information Mike...but I guess sometimes people operate that way. I'm sure the heads up will be appreciated. SoCalHHR 08-14-2006, 01:52 PM Deb, I see many online retailers listing parts on their sites, and some have even listed BEFORE becoming a dealer for that item! If that's not false advertising (and just trying to get your $$$), I don't know what is. It seems people will tell you anything nowadays just to take your order... courthousedeb 08-14-2006, 02:19 PM That's why I'm careful where I buy things from. First stop...SoCalHHR's...and if he doesn't have it or know where to get it...I probably don't need it anyway. Seriously...I trust the members and supporting vendors here to provide us with great places to buy stuff. You vendors can't carry everything we need...but you sure give it a try and we as HHR owners appreciate your efforts. :thumb: crowbar 08-14-2006, 05:21 PM i figured they were not instock but i thought id share the pricing info i found SoCalHHR 08-14-2006, 07:39 PM What is interesting is...how can they list a product (or a part number), when it has not even been released yet? Go on AEM's site - there is no application number for the HHR listed. so...where did they get this info??? Pricing? Part Numbers? I'm curious, because my car was used for prototyping this intake, and we were promised one once they are released. Very shady...... |
