My personal opition is keep it in the regional section. We have no need for another section so I can read about get togethers on west coast or in the middle of the US that I can't attend. If I'm wondering about a get together in my area I'll look or post in the northeast section. To tell you the truth I hardly ever open up regions other that my own unless the thread has an interesting title.

I say keep them listed in the regional. Sorry I am not reading about a g2g on the east coast if I am not going to be there, or plan on it. Now if you wanted to make a sub folder under the regionals, but now that I think about it that may not even be needed.

We're always going to see some resistance when it comes to change...but that's inevitable. Some work for the good, like the Problem/Service Issues board...which was a great idea. I think adding new boards from time to time is a great idea and expands the needs of the community as it continues to grow. If a particular thread or board doesn't interest someone, they don't have to read it...I know I've skipped threads from time to time for various reasons. Doesn't happen too often, as I enjoy reading everything the members have to say. I see no harm in trying new things that members suggest...and if they don't work out...delete them and go on. Below is my take on the whole idea that I posted on the other thread.
That sounds like something that might work. Maybe add it as a board in the Community Section as a Meet Other Members Board. Then people could post where they will be traveling and schedule get togethers with others along the way. Sometimes members travel through more than one region and this would save them from having to post several threads instead of one. These threads could be left open, so that anyone in the area of their route or destinations could post their interest in hooking up with them.
It would also be a good place to announce meets and runs and then link those threads to the thread in the region where it will be taking place for further discussion on the event. I think closing those is a good idea, so you don't have too many places where posts can be made, which could complicate getting things set up and getting a head count. Only problem I see with this, is that guidelines would need to be set on what should and shouldn't be posted. Otherwise it could get overloaded with every car show in the country and defeat the whole purpose of the board. As with everything...there are pros and cons to every idea.
As with other ideas that have been suggested, the final decision rests with jonyyB.
I think it would be a good idea to have a g2g forum. And as stated before, link it to the specific regiional forum and LOCK it.

Arent G2G's region specific to begin with?
I'm not sure I understand the proposal.

Depends on what the definition of a get together is. Let's use TomsHHR or CJ as an example. They travel alot and sometimes go through several different regions during their travels. If we had a board like CJ suggested, people who are traveling can post there and let people know what their itenerary is and those members wanting to meet up with them from various regions would have more info. This would eliminate the need to post in several different regions if they will be crossing through more than one.
I believe what is being asked for is a sub-forum maybe in the Community area of the forum. A place to be used as a prelude or guide to the actual threads and details about the events. I'm sure I'm not the only member who doesn't visit the regional boards on a regular basis, as much of it is introductions and very local stuff. Another solution might be to add a board to the regional area for get togethers, so that it's in the same forum area...which leads me to the question below.
While we're asking for things, would it be possible to add a link to the Forum Jump that will take members directly to the Regional section. I realize we have one by itself at the top of the page, but it takes you through the map area to get there, unless you go from the forum Home page. Just trying to think of ways to make it easier to navigate the boards from different areas.

I think it would stick to each zone/section. If there was a G2G section which is for everyone. How many local posts do you think you would see? For example "Who wants to meet me at the Mc.Donalds on Route #335 tomm". I think its better that its all seperate. If your in Cali i'm sure you want to see Local Cali Posts. Just my two cents

It's hard enough to find out what is going on on the east coast in the forum, at least the regional post are convienent. I like it the way it is. Change is not always good.
