View Full Version : g2g Table Rock Lake/Branson
GDZHHR 08-18-2006, 10:20 PM Me and Pat were talkin and just couldn't help but make plans on driving down to Table Rock Lake (Shell Knob, MO) and then have a run to Branson. Its a sweet drive, about 45 minutes from Table Rock Lake.
We'll head down Friday the 8th and head home Sunday morning.
Bonnie and me will stay at her Mom's house on the lake and there is a small resort, really a place with about 12 cabins about a 1/4 mile down the road that's right on the lake. If ya like fishin, plenty on the lake!
Pla-Port Resort (http://www.plaportresort.com/)
Bonnie's known the owners for years so if anyone is interested let us know.
We could even pitch in and rent a boat for the day onSaturday and then drive into Branson that night. Or we don't have to make any plans at all.
Figure we could all hook up here and then convoy down!
All are welcome. Even if its just us Pat and Rita. We're going so come on! After all, we are the "Run Region":thumb:
BlackHHR 08-18-2006, 10:31 PM sounds like it will be a fun time:cool:
GDZHHR 08-19-2006, 03:49 AM I know this is short notice for y'all and its a long drice for many. We're mainly going to scout Branson for next year's 2nd Annual. Just thought we'd throw it out to see if anyone wanted to go too.
GDZHHR 08-19-2006, 03:01 PM For anyone who's thinking of going, this is the response we got for Pla-Port:
Here are the cabins I have available for Sept 8 & 9.
Cabin 2: $60.00 a night for 1-2 people....$74.00 for up to 4. It has two bedrooms with a queen size bed in one and a full size bed in the other.
Cabin 4: $60.00 a night for 1-2 people....$74.00 for up to 4. It has two bedrooms with a queen size bed in one and two twins in the other.
Cabin 5: $90.00 a night for up to 6 people. It has two bedrooms with a queen size bed in one and a full in the other...two twin beds and a full off the kitchen area...and a twin bed off the living room area. It has a bath and half.
These 3 cabins are smoking and pet friendly.
Cabin 7: $100.00 a night for up to 6 people. It has two bedrooms...one with a king size bed and a twin...the other with two full size beds. It has a bath and half. It is non smoking and no pets. This cabin I may or may not have available. I have someone interested in it for that weekend and they are suppose to get back with me this weekend. If you are interested in it...let me know and I will get ahold of these people and see what they came up with.
Again, just throwing the info out. Not an official run just a g2g and scouting trip.:D

We're gonna be doing lots of events, you can always be an unofficial member of the Mid-Central!:D
We're also looking at doing a big event at St. Louis International Speedway. But that's long range planning!
El_Guapo 08-20-2006, 01:51 PM Awesome..!! I'll check in from time to time... Springfield/Branson is only about a 5 to 6 hour drive for me, and St. Louis is around 3 to 4 hours, so I would always be willing to make the trip for any event you guys put together... One of these days I hope to live in MO again, so its kind of still home in my heart...!!

GDZHHR 08-23-2006, 08:45 PM UPDATE:
Looks like we're going to Branson the week-end of Sept. 15th. If anyone wants to tag along just let us know!
SandyBeach 08-23-2006, 09:06 PM I am so jealous! We had some good times at Table Rock Lake when I was younger. But I grew up going to Lake Wappappello in SE Missouri. My family still own a cabin there. There's nothing better than a long weekend at the lake!
Rolyat1955 08-24-2006, 09:30 AM My husband & I might be interested! When do you plan to leave (you're in St Louis, right?) for Branson? We are just way tooooo excited about meeting other HHR people! Last night we were just cruisn' around the Quad-Cities and actually sat at a stop light next to another HHR! We just kinda stared at each other, then said, "NICE CAR!!!!" The light turned green and they turned left and we went straight. What a cool moment! Ahhhhh....gotta get to work. See ya'll later!

I'll check with Pat to see when they're gonna be passing through. If you're anywhere near Peoria you could follow them.

We would take I-74 (we are about 90 miles north-west of Peoria) and could meet them somewhere close to where they are then follow them. They'd just have to let me know what time and where to be!
shakakan 08-26-2006, 12:17 PM Hey guys, when you go to Branson, make sure you make a couple of laps on the round about in downtown. It is in front of the hospital at the intersection of Bus. 65 and the road to Branson Landing.
We did it at about 55 miles an hour at 11 at night with the tires howling. The worst idea that the city has ever come up with!!!
Have fun ya'll
Blair
ChiTownHHR 08-26-2006, 01:08 PM Hmm, I just took off Sept 14th-18th for Doctor's Visits, yesterday. This may be worth missing them for. /ponders
GDZHHR 08-26-2006, 01:56 PM If the wife gets a new job we might not be able to leave St. Louis until 6:00 PM. We are hoping to leave the area by 2:00 which would put us at Table Rock Lake (Shell Knob, MO) about 7:00.
Anyone can PM me and I'll give ya our number so we can work out details if anyone wants to tag along.
We're going no matter what, her Mom lives down there and it's the week of Caleb's B-day. She missed his 1st so it'll be nice for her to see him the day after his 2nd.

Cool!:thumb:
Looks like we might have a mini-run on our hands! It is really beautiful down there, lots of photo ops around the lake.
GDZHHR 08-27-2006, 07:41 PM If anyone is still wanting to go, it looks like this has become an even more casual trip; no longer related to any Mid-Central event at all.
Can't plan anything if people won't talk.
That being said, me and Bonnie are still planning on going. We are going to stay at Bonnie's Mom's house right off the lake. We'll leave on the 15th; at 2:00 or at 6:00. It depends on what happens with Bonnie's job. Its about a 4-5 hour drive from our house.
There is a place to stay just down the road from where we'll be, Pla-Port. Nice, clean, and reasonable. Right on the lake! Info on this place is earlier in this thread. I'd suggest calling soon if you want to go. If you're looking for someplace else, give me a call and we'll try to give a couple other options.
Figure on having breakfast Saturday and then a drive in the morning, maybe take a few pics. Lunch, nap and then drive down to Branson late afternoon.
Takes about 45 minutes and is a really nice drive. If anyone likes catfish, there are a few places we could eat that have great catfish and other eats!
We could hang out in Branson for a few hours checking out the sites and whatever. If ya like go-karts, there is a really fun place for that. Nothing fancy, but a decent little track.
Then a nice breakfast Sunday morning and on our way home.
Its gonna be fun! Anyone who wants to tag along or meet up there or along the way, are welcome!
