View Full Version : HHR SS Update
O6ChevyHHR 08-23-2006, 06:47 PM Hi, everyone,
Just wanted to share some info that I found out today. Remeber that you all said it was going to have like 240 Hp. I found out how and where it's coming from. If I am correct here it looks like for 2007 the Cobalt now offers a stage 2 upgrade for the 2.2 Superchaged. With this kit you get new fuel injectors, new pully system and a ECU cailibration, but after that you get 241 Horses! So what I think is that the HHR SS is going to use this motor with the stage 2 kit to get the Hp to 241. What do you think?
en0oNmAI 08-23-2006, 07:29 PM Acutally all sources are pointing at the 2.0 Direct Injection Turbo making 260 horses that SAAB is using in the new 9-5 (i think) and the Solstice/Sky GXP/Red Line versions.... still rumor and speculation as far as I know thus far.

Uhhh...bad news '06 - the Cobalt SS uses a 2.0 engine.
It's 205hp stock, and the "Stage II Kit" is probably for that engine, but it uses a completely different block than the HHR's 2.2 and 2.4L engines.
I think we are going to see either a V6 version, - or perhaps something better!
1BadPig 08-23-2006, 08:07 PM The SAAB 9-5 uses a 2.3L Turbo and the 9-3 uses 2.0L Turbo.
Z-Man 08-23-2006, 09:38 PM I think this is great if its true.:thumb: I have purchased my HHR for Style and 30 MPG. Now if it is going to have all that power I might only be able to drive it on payday, due to the cost of fuel. I can see it now. What do you hear about mileage. Now that would be Big News. Style, Power & 30 MPG. Cool!

My son wants mine when he's 16 in 2 years. I'll buy that one for myself, or see if I can get it in the Nomad they're supposedly coming out with.
TomsHHR 08-24-2006, 09:55 PM Hmmmmmm. that engine would make my HHR the Little orange wagon wheelstander version of the Little Red Wagon...... Go Tom er... Bill
courthousedeb 08-24-2006, 10:29 PM The GM rep I talked to today at the GM Show that was here today said it looked like they would be offering a 2.0 Turbocharged engine on the HHR...he said most likely it would be the same as what is in the Solstice now. When I said I was thinking probably 2008, he grinned but didn't say yes or no...so I'm sure we're pretty close on when it will debut.

the HHR SS is expected to use the Pontiac Solstice GXP's direct-injected turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 260 hp, which, along with extensive tuning in Germany on the Nurburgring, should add up to an interesting HHR, indeed
Nice.... ;)
SoCalHHR 10-23-2006, 02:12 PM There ya go! It will use the Solstice GXP's direct-injected turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 260 hp. Not bad at all!
Ronzo 10-23-2006, 02:13 PM 260 hp in that little car will move it. ;)
captain howdy 10-23-2006, 02:15 PM Then the HHR can almost hang with the Mazdaspeed 3.
mr.bungle 10-24-2006, 04:19 PM here's what the VW kids have to say about it
http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2891585 don't mind anyone making negative comments that has a VW that is 2000 or newer, they're mk4 owners and useless
HHR Forever 01-29-2007, 07:10 PM don't mind anyone making negative comments that has a VW that is 2000 or newer, they're mk4 owners and useless
Agreed!
RatRodS 02-08-2007, 08:45 AM Any updates on the SS?
captain howdy 02-08-2007, 09:06 AM I don't think it will ever see the light of day other than a few test vehicles. Maybe Chevy is realizing there won't be as big a market for it as they originally anticipated. To my knowledge Chevy still hasn't officially announced that they will be producing the SS or a given any idea as to a production date or model year. All I've seen is a bunch of internet "spy" stuff that doesn't amount to crap.
Clarke33 02-08-2007, 08:32 PM I was talking to someone I know that works at the Saturn plant in Spring Hill, TN the other day, and he said all they have heard is the rumor of an SS version. That plant builds the 2.2, 2.4, and the 2.0 turbo. He said they are building quite a number of turbo engines but like he said earlier, none are on order for an HHR.
