BlackHHR 08-26-2006, 09:24 PM What gauge do you want to put in? I would go to the A-piller nfboy 08-26-2006, 09:31 PM Where is the best place to install aftermarket guages? on or in the dash! Welcome. zxkeller 08-26-2006, 10:14 PM I was thinking about an exhaust temperature guage. nfboy 08-26-2006, 10:19 PM I was thinking about an exhaust temperature guage. I'd go with what BlackHHR said.. A-pillar 1BadPig 08-26-2006, 10:30 PM I was thinking about an exhaust temperature guage. Why an exhaust temperature gauge? Not as if the HHR is gas-turbine powered. zxkeller 08-26-2006, 10:46 PM Exhaust temperature tells you when you're hurting your engine. jaydogg 08-26-2006, 10:49 PM i want to do them in the top storage area. or on top, like 3 of them, if you are doing one you could do a single on top of the steering wheel column. BlackHHR 08-26-2006, 10:54 PM i want to do them in the top storage area. or on top, like 3 of them, if you are doing one you could do a single on top of the steering wheel column. something like this? http://cgi.ebay.ca/Perrin-Gauge-Pod-WRX-Sti-Scion-Mini-SRT4-350Z-Cobalt_W0QQitemZ8040581477QQihZ019QQcategoryZ33675 QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Lee3333 08-27-2006, 01:27 AM I added a vacuum gauge like this: http://www.chevyhhr.net/gallery/files/3/2/4/vacuumgaugeDSCN4405.jpg I attached it with velcro so I can get to the inspection and registration stickers. It is easy to see, and since it is in front of the stickers, it hides them and does not block any of my view. jaydogg 08-27-2006, 01:40 AM something like this? http://cgi.ebay.ca/Perrin-Gauge-Pod-WRX-Sti-Scion-Mini-SRT4-350Z-Cobalt_W0QQitemZ8040581477QQihZ019QQcategoryZ33675 QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem you can do it like that but i have a little fiberglass background so i would get a single pod or dual if needed and try to fiberglass it in there. would be cheaper than the ebay one, but does take some more time to do. zxkeller 08-27-2006, 09:35 AM I like that, the steering column mount. That looks easy. nfboy 08-27-2006, 10:30 AM I like that, the steering column mount. That looks easy. Looks like it may block the in dash gauges a bit. Then again it might just depend on where the column is with the tilt steering. crowbar 08-27-2006, 02:10 PM id get like a s10 guage pod and glass it to the pillar post Bowtie388SBC 08-27-2006, 02:22 PM Exhaust temperature tells you when you're hurting your engine. Audible Boom! or Bang!, smoke and fluid coming from engine....That's the type of gauge Nascar drivers use... zxkeller 08-28-2006, 11:23 PM That's true, they have a lot more cash than me! october5 09-17-2006, 03:10 PM Before buying my HHR in December I had a 2001 P.T. Cruiser and installed pillar gauges. Does anyone make the Pillar gauge pod for the HHR ??? I installed a Voltage gauge and a Temp gauge and most of the wiring was in the pillar to tap into. Does the HHR have those wires in the pillar?? I was able to tap into the dash lights and wires for the voltage gauge. The only wire I had to run through the firewall was for the temperature sender.... Oh and by the way If you do install another temperature gauge you have to buy a tee connection and connect BOTH your new temperature sender and the old Sender .. Otherwise your car will run like crap....because the original sender sends information to your computer and If you just disconnect it the computer goes nuts thinking there Is something wrong! Anthony:bow: cyberone3 09-17-2006, 03:45 PM i think gm missed something with the dic they have two coolant temp gauge one in the dash and one in the dic no oil or voltage or vacum cjuetten 09-23-2006, 01:36 AM "I was thinking about an exhaust temperature guage." Without a turbo would it ever really get too hot?? The computer's already controlling the motor in a closed loop system. Its not like you can use it to dail in timing or fuel mixture. Not sure if the guage would really tell you anything other than when its fully warmed up. Guess I'm just curious why a stock 4 cylinder would require anything other than water temp and oil pressure. By the way is there a tap on the motor for oil pressure?? zxkeller 09-30-2006, 06:11 PM Guess you're right, not much heat with a four cylinder. Maybe I'll get some dice for the rear view mirror instead. Can't wait to get my '07 and get started on my mods. |
