View Full Version : Thinking of selling Sub Sub
dan-d 08-27-2006, 12:30 AM As many of you know we're thinking of leaving Florida because of economics. I'm also thinking of selling Sub Sub (my beloved HHR) as an intrim fix prior to relocating. I talked to Carmax and they said they would give me average blue book between 15 - 16k (but I don't know). If I do sell her I'd rather see her remain a part of this forum and go to a home with someone who will give her proper care and feeding. Once settled in our new place I will get another HHR at some point. Below is a list of stuff I've done to her and some specs.
2006 HHR 1LT - has approx 4500 miles.
2.4L with manual tranny
Black ext / Grey int
Added factory running boards
Added factory mud flaps
Added factory rear bumper guard
Installed Stull billit grille with old school script
Chrome trimmed the tail lights
Added true 55/56 chevy radio grille scripts to the hood
Cut down the factory antenna
Installed a very short shifter
Modded and installed a Hurst Camaro leather shift knob
Installed triple lake pipes (show only)
Installed a complete air bag suspension
Keep in mind this thread is only for information at this point since I haven't yet decided what I'm going to do. I love my HHR but may have to part with her. if you want any additional info please take it to PM. -Dan
dbarberaz 08-27-2006, 01:59 AM I am really supprised it quoted you only 15-16k. Right after my wreck the wife looked up the blue book on mine and it was about 17-18k. We have done nothing to it other than the stuff listed below in my sig. I also have 13000 miles also a 1LT but an auto. So is that saying that making all kinds of mods can lower the value that much?
SoCalHHR 08-27-2006, 02:51 AM No, it's sjust aying that CarMax won't give you blue book for your car - no one will right now. We recently sold a loaded Mercedes E320 with only 40k miles for $17k (to CarMax). It was a 52k car when new. Right now that used car market is pretty bleak.
Dan, sorry to see you sell Sub-Sub - especially since she's bagged & dragged (pipes)! Hope you reconsider - it's a losing market out there right now!
crowbar 08-27-2006, 11:54 AM id love to have the air off of it
i agree with socal if you can stand it keep her
HHR PNOY 08-27-2006, 11:56 AM I just tried getting a trade-in quote for my HHR recently...quoted 14k for it, 4k less than what I owe. What a rip!
courthousedeb 08-27-2006, 06:19 PM That's too bad dan-d. Hope things work out so you can keep sub sub. :thumb:

crowbar 08-27-2006, 09:29 PM have you thought of parting the air system dan?

Yeah I've thought of that. But to install the rear bags I had to cut off the rear spring perches on the lower control arms. So before I could reinstall the stock rear springs I would have to get another pair of lower control arms. It's nothing to replace, but that too would be at a cost. Still giving it some thought.

or you could, if somebody was to buy your bags and was close to you or willing to make the drive, swap out rear axles ;)

It wouldn't be the rear axles, just the lower control arms.
Well actually it would entail swapping out the torsion bar since the lower control arms are welded on. But even at that it's a no brainer.
Tokyo 08-28-2006, 02:05 AM Dan, I'd be more than willing to help you part with your Airbag setup, especially considering I'm 30 minutes away. τΏ~
Besides, I'd love to hang out again in your shop, the ultimate Man-Paradise! I'll buy the beer, too. :)

Will,
I may consider putting the suspension back to stock if I sell her. If I do, I'll let you know.
