View Full Version : The Big Run '07
scaleguy 08-28-2006, 01:16 PM Hey everyone, we have a couple of candidates for the location of the '07 summer run. Branson, Missouri is the first, resort area lots to do, closer to the southern members of the forum. Wisconsin Dells, is another, while out of the region geographically this location would be closer for the northern folks and even the more northern folks, the Canadians, to drive down. The Dells offers the same type of ammenities as Branson, resorts, family entertainment, good lodging. There are a multitude of cruise areas avaliable as well as tourist locations such as House on the Rock withing driving distance.
Okay there are the first two possibilities, please include your ideas, for locations, activities that you would like to see, improvements over "Year One", whatever and we can get moving.
On a note from "Year One" the dash plaques are ordered, the group shot won, I will distribute them as soon as they are completed, likely a couple of weeks...
GDZHHR 08-28-2006, 01:28 PM Just my opinion, but I just think a Mid-Central event should be in the region. Especially the main event of the year. If a run is wanted out of the region, great, we might go too, but it really isn't a Mid-Central.
The Dells, or anywhere in Wisconsin, is only close and convenient for members living in the north. Maybe if an event was planned farther west some of the other people who do live in the west part of the region could participate.;)
Whatever is decided is fine.:thumb:
Novadiecast 08-28-2006, 01:49 PM Scale, I have to agree with Mike on this one. Although I will be participating where ever it is. It needs to be in the region that initiates it. We are not planning a run in the California area are we, no, Cause it is not in our region. Although I love to go.....Can you say POWERTOUR..........
I am glad to be adopted into the region but it has to REGIONAL.
Just my :2cents: .
deerman 08-28-2006, 01:56 PM Maybe we should do it in Peoria this time..maybe the riverfront? Nobody chats on the forum (mid-central) from Kansas, only two from Mo. and one from Iowa. I think we should look outside the box. (or in it) . Ideas, ideas. With that, decisions can be made. :thumb:
JLYNNFL 08-28-2006, 03:08 PM Just throwing out a suggesstion, what about Galena? Lots of places to shop, wine tours, etc.
Rolyat1955 08-28-2006, 03:23 PM I'm really new to this site and not too sure about alot of things. I am in the Quad-Cities area (right where interestate 80 crosses the Mississippi River into Iowa). I am 3 hours from Chicago, 3 hours from Des Moines, 4 hours from St Louis. I am game for anywhere. I have volunteered both my husband and myself to work on plans for the run in the Spring. We'd like to try one here in the Q-C. I think that for the "Big One" that Branson would be neat. If dates are set up enough in advance (which I know they would be) anyone who really wanted to try to make it, could make a neat vacation out it. Branson offers something for everyone. Kart tracks for the kids (big kids included), shows for everyone's taste, museums (don't think I spelled that right!) Plus, isn't the most important thing just being able to get together with those who have a LOVE for their HHR's? I haven't met a soul yet except for talking on this forum and CAN'T wait for the chance to meet someone face to face! I think that whoever is on the committee for a certain run should be the one to choose and make the plans for where ever they so desire. If someone wants to go to a certain one they will, if not, well....then they won't. AND, if someone wants to have in a certain spot, then they should be volunteering to get their name on the list and plan a run!
Sorry I was so wordy there!:red:
Z-Man 08-28-2006, 10:49 PM Rolyat1955:thumb:
Your right and please don't mis-understand some of the Threads. We all want to do some thing but have no time to make plans, and as soon as some one has a great idea someone else comes up with another idea. I for one would like to go to the Dells but if everyone wants to have all of our events in the region. Then that is what we should do. No one has to come but it would be nice if everyone can. To put it in better words. (I think since the personnel who has donated their time and are on each committy should make the final decision, after all they are the ones who requested to be placed on this committy, every one had a chance to be put on and no one wanted it. My hat is off to all of the personnel who have given their time to take on these posotions I myself trust their judgement and I am sure that they are looking out for every one's best interest. I my self will go almost any where as long as the gas stays were it is right now $2.79 a gallon but not much higher. Ha! Ha! Ha![
Like its really going to go down much more in price, after all we all purchased
the Chevrolet HHR for 3 reasons. Style, Price and 30 MPG
HAHA!! just a reminder 119 days until Christmas! right!
scaleguy 08-29-2006, 07:41 AM Rolyat1955, It is great that you guys are stepping up for the Sprimg run, we will definitely be there. The Big Run location will come to light soon I am looking at all of the possibilities and will put together info for the final decision. Right now it looks like the Dells is not the best desination since some feel that going out of the geographic region is not a good idea. Branson will offer th most at the highest cost, but is a great idea so I am checking now, I will also support another Peoria run, just because of it's central location to the most active members of the region Missouri, Illinois Iowa and Indiana. If we could just start hearing from the western guys we could find a way to possibly involve them more as well. I think that the hardest issue is deciding the location then I can do the stuff that I do best as well as having the other members work their magic...
GDZHHR 08-29-2006, 08:38 AM I just need to say this.
I realized this this morning. I'm getting upset about all of this saying it should be this or that when nothing is really official. We're not a club with rules and guidelines. We're just a bunch of people who are in a forum who want to do stuff.
If someone wants a run out of the region, it could always be called a "region road trip" or something like that.
Basically, what I'm saying is that anything goes. We have no structure or rules, and that isn't a good or bad thing, so anyone can plan anything. Dells-fine, Branson-fine, SoCal-fine...whatever whenever.
If/when there is ever an official club then there would be rules/guidelines. In the mean time.......
Party on Garth!!!
oldschoolfreak 08-29-2006, 11:00 AM I say we load all our HHR`s in a bid arse boat and do a trip to freakin maui!!!!! yea I said it Hawaii!! we could take the place over !! LOL
seriously though any where is fine with me as long as i have some time to plan ahead work,family,etc..
scaleguy 08-29-2006, 01:04 PM Maui, Australia...The HHR World Distruction Tour !!! I did like the Galena suggetsion, we could make that work, opinions. I am also doing some electronic checking of Branson today. I am looking at lots of things, and will investigate anything that you guys are interested. The Branson area seems popular with one faction, the Dells another, Galena sounds cool and Peoria too. I think we try to decide by the end of September and then solidify the rest of the planning. Who else is on this committee, so it doesn't seem like I am trying to move everyone else out? I will bring my findings of each location here as soon as I have them and then we can all weigh the pros and cons...but this is not my run, or a committees run, this is "OURS" we mind it happen once and we will make it happen again... Oh and before I forget, I e-mailed all of the sponsors and gave them our update and the added news that I took the remaining goodie bag stuff to the show we had at Caterpillar to give them twice the exposure!!!
stevflo 08-29-2006, 02:03 PM I vote for Fandon, IL, the capital of Forgotonia!!!!
deerman 08-29-2006, 03:18 PM :rof: :rof: :rof: :rof: :thumb:
lynnrock 08-29-2006, 05:15 PM There is a state park, Mississippi Palisades State Park for those who like to camp, just south of Galena.
oldschoolfreak 08-29-2006, 05:57 PM My wife and I love Vinnies Italian restuarant in Galena they have some of the best dang food I have ever had!! But i am italian so i may be biased!!!

Sing it Deano...lalala.mmmmmm
scaleguy 08-29-2006, 07:32 PM Well, things were going just fine, and now 'school is singing! How can we possibly survive this??? I am going to do some checking in Galena, as well as The Dells...Branson looks kinda' pricey, but there is an amusement park, lakes and the theatres, so I am looking at lodging costs. What kind of recreational things are you guys considering so I can check avaliability and costs?...
Rolyat1955 08-29-2006, 10:08 PM We've been to Branson a couple of times (we are also planning to go on Sept 15-16 and hopefully be with at least a couple of other Mid-Central HHR'ers!). My favorite thing to do is the Dixie Stampede. It's a Dolly Parton dinner/show featuring a "competition" between the North and the South! It's alot of fun, the foods good, a bit pricey but for both dinner and a show it's not too bad. We like going the the Duck's too! The one we rode on last time we were there gave a "Wacy Quackers"! It's a duck whistle that looks like a duck bill! I gave mine to my 19 month old grandson-he loves it! They have an antique train that you can ride on also. Liked that too. I just really want to meet some fellow HHR'ers and talk!
Black Beauty 08-30-2006, 07:24 AM Where is this East Moline Place, from Chi-town?? North, south, east or west.
If we make it to the fall event, maybe you can join the THREE AMIGOS convoy. (FOUR AMIGOS are fine)

From Chicago you take I-80 west about 160 miles. The Quad-Cities area (East Moline, Moline, Rock Island in Illinois and Davenport and Bettendorf in Iowa are the Q-C, and I know, that's 5 but no one here can make up their minds!) It's right where I-80 crosses the Mississippi River into Iowa. We're pretty central here, 3 hours to Des Moines, 3 hours to Chicago, 4 hours to St Louis! Looking forward to meeting everyone at the Fall run!
scaleguy 08-30-2006, 08:18 AM Hey Beauty Rol is exactly right a west, northwest shot for you to Galena a bit southwest to the Quad Cities...I have gathered some more info on Branson, and I am working on The Dells and Galena now. I have also drafted a sponsorship letter directed at a major casino, hotel or other business that could support a show of at least 50 HHRs, notice I said at least...Hey Iowa is there any place in Iowa that you would like to throw into the ring? Hey guys from the western part of our region...come on, give us your ideas, maybe you have a place out your way that would be cool and Pizza Nova anyone else from Indiana, I really feel that if you are within 6-8 hours of the run we can really make it worth the drive...Suggestions !!! What do you want to do, see, experience...this is the time to let it be known so the group can try to accomodate. If you missed Big Run 1, you should know that beyond anything else that we can offer the best thing we have is the people in the group, you come hang out with these people and you will be so gald that you got involved...
scaleguy 08-30-2006, 08:22 AM Rol, whatelse is over in your direction, that could accomodate at least 50HHRs and recreation for a weekend? Does the Jumer family still own the riverboat over there? I used to be the bodyman for the Jumer family and maybe we could use that to our advantage. Lynnrock, whatelse do you have around Galena, I have spent lots of time there, but I could use more info about the area, especially this park that you mentioned and anything else a bunch if car folks might be interested in? That doggoned Stevflo knows where everything is, if we make sure that he goes with us we will never get lost !!!
Rolyat1955 08-30-2006, 09:30 AM Jumer's still has a casino in Rock Island PLUS there are 2 more just across the river, one in Davenport and one in Bettendorf. Different car shows have been held at Black Hawk College, Farm & Fleet, and some others that I would have to ask my son about. Moline is the home of John Deere and there is a beautiful John Deere Pavillion. Try this to see if this would help in letting you know what's here! http://www.visitquadcities.com/2004/ We have some beautiful parks. Scott County Park in Long Grove, IA is nice. And, depending on what time of the year, there are lots of different events. If I find any more info that I think would be helpful, I'll pass it along.
scaleguy 08-30-2006, 11:11 AM Oh man, could I get fired for a show at Deere since I work at Cat...hahaha. The Pavillion is off of the hook, could be a great run destination along with the casinos etc, do we have a winter or spring run location? Hey what about the winter run to the World of Wheels at McCormick Place in Chicago...I am already going and if I can dig up the finances to do some of my big mods I will be showing there...anybody else what to enter with me? If no spring events what about the Quad Cities area?
Rolyat1955 08-30-2006, 12:16 PM I actually have already volunteered both my husband and myself to help with the Spring Run!!! We kind of wanted to see how a Run went (we are definately going to the Fall Run!! Oct 21-22, right?) and then get the ball rolling for the Spring Run. I think that a Winter Run at McCormick sounds cool!
scaleguy 08-30-2006, 12:20 PM Rolyat, I am looking forward to meeting you guys, you sound like just the sort of crazies to fit right in here (meant in a good way !!!) We can be an extremely fun group. I apologize for my upcoming absence to Missouri, but it just didn't work out for me this time. I will be looking forward to meeting you guys at the fall run !!! and thank you for volunteering to become involved in run planning...
GDZHHR 08-30-2006, 02:42 PM How about a spring run to a drag strip for a tune/time night?
Z-Man 08-30-2006, 05:14 PM Mike:thumb:
Count on me being there, Can you please give me more Information on this like the following Where, When, How far, and would this be an Over night
depending on the mileage. Sounds very very good to me.
Rolyat1955 08-30-2006, 06:18 PM How about a spring run to a drag strip for a tune/time night?
Ok, I know this is actually "The Big Run '07" thread but I wanted ot post this here! Don't know if anyone else has signed up yet for the Spring Run but my husband and I have and we welcome anyone and everyone with experience!
I checked out Cordova Dragway Park's 2006 schedule. I have requested to get the schedule for 2007. On April 22nd & 23rd of THIS YEAR-2006-the had a "Spring Warm Up and Swap Meet" that included a test-n-tune (and I REALLY don't have a clue as to what that is, but hey....I'm game for anything) I am sure that they pretty much follow the same schedule year after year. IF... we did the Spring Run here in the Quad-Cities we could maybe meet at our car dealer (where we bought our HHR-they have offered to sponsor us in anyway!) maybe get them to do coffee 'n donuts. It's about 32 miles from Milan (where the car dealer is) to Cordova (where the drag strip is.) We have a river boat that DOES NOT have gambling, but does offer dinner/cruises that could be an evening event. OR, we do have 3 gambling river boats (that DO NOT go out cruising).
Sorry for being so wordy again! I am just SOOOOOOO hyped up and excited I can hardly stand myself. If you think I should start a different thread for this, I will, but I kinda wanted to let you all know what I've been up too!
Yahoo!
Novadiecast 08-30-2006, 06:24 PM Rolyat1955 I like your style, My hat is off to you for getting involved and already getting sponsors for the Spring Fling.:thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

We're in!
Rolyat why don't you start a new thread for the Spring Run with your ideas. Just an idea!
Z-Man 08-30-2006, 07:05 PM Chris
Sounds like the 1955 are our kind of Fun and Crazy family. It all sounds like a good Idea. We need our HHR Family to keep up the Good Ideas. One of these days we will have a lot to choose from and that means our 2007 will be nothing but a much larger Wild and Crazy Family Event.(Run) :thumb:
Every one please keep all the Great Ideas coming INN. This is getting better every week.
scaleguy 08-30-2006, 07:19 PM Yipppeeeeeeeee! We are in...going to the dragstrip !!! Hey if you guys need anything just let me know. .
lynnrock 08-30-2006, 08:16 PM http://dnr.state.il.us/lands/landmgt/PARKS/R1/PALISADE.HTM#Camping
stevflo 08-30-2006, 11:06 PM ...That doggoned Stevflo knows where everything is, if we make sure that he goes with us we will never get lost !!!Just let me know the starting and ending points and we'll map it out. Quad Cities or Galena, either one and I'm in if the dates work. I guess I am going to have to break down and put the tow bar setup on the HHR so we can drag it around with the motorhome (part of the reason we bought the HHR anyway). Never camped at Mississippi Palisades, but always wanted to go. Stopped by there once a few years ago and the campground was closed for some remodeling or something. Have been to Galena and it is a nice place to visit. Scott County parks are nice too!
scaleguy 09-11-2006, 10:34 AM Okay, there has been discussion of the following locations for the Big Run '07 so far. Peoria, Illinois, Galena, Illinois, Wisconsin Dells, Branson, Mo., Mississippi Palasadies Park. I am currently researching Peoria, Galena and The Dells, I was unable to do a run down to Branson as other obligations got in my way so if Gdzhhr or others in that area would like to do the research and submit a proposal we can get all of these things gone through and a decision made. I will put together proposals for the three places that I had mentioned because I have been working them already and I am familiar with them. If you have a location suggestion, maybe you could put together a list of things to do and a report of lodging, recreation, whatever you think makes the location the best for us. I propose that we decide by vote, majority rules, because honestly I like things about all of the places that I have seen so far. There had been a discussion of leaving our geographic area for say the Dells in Wiconsin, and I see points on each side, so I am going to research it and let the group decide...I do not want my personal feelings and bias to create an issue with this run. I can have my research finished by the end of September what about anyone else, is that too soon? Could we decide on a date to put the proposals to the group, either, the first week of October or maybe the first week of November ? As soon as this location issue is settled and we have a weekend then we will begin getting the run into the media, (magazines, run lists etc) then begin working sponsors. Please be thinking of improvements over the first run, trophy issues, classes etc. activities, anything that would help bring this run to the forefront...
oldschoolfreak 09-11-2006, 01:31 PM OK Pat, I think the trophies were perfect on our first run even though Bonnie and clyde(mike) stoled the show in my class!! LOL
I think a poll/choices should be started once all the ideas are listed for the big one in 07 I think it would be the best and easiest way to (vote) on it for everyone?
I think the more media we could get involved the better and maybe we could get people from all over (national) to come being they moved the national run back to 08!! we hold the record as far as i know for the biggest hhr gathering for a run to date and i would like to keep it that way cause i have never met a nicer bunch of nuts!!!!
finally I would just like to say Pat (scaleguy) I feel strongly that you should be our regions/clubs leader/president as I have never seen a more active person in a car club type of thing in all my years as a car freak!! you are the man!!
If we ever need a treasurer :guns: it has to be Z-man cause that guys nuts!! and nobody is gonna mess with him!!!LOLOL:poke:
Angelo 09-11-2006, 02:25 PM I thought i would put in my two cents. We went to Branson this summer and it is fun for familys and younger people like myself. With shows, go-karts, museums, sports bars and the best of all, steak houses. They have awesome places to eat. They have more than enough to do. They also have places where we could do some great group photos. We stayed at a resort that had condos with swiming pools, hot tobs, jacuzzis, and a recreation room. This place could easily accommodate 100-150 HHRs with another resort beside it to hold more people. But they would need to know ahead of time. It was around $375 for 3 nights with tax and everything, and if we could do a group deal i bet it would be cheaper. I can research on that and events if yall want me to. I would also consider being a sponser of the event, as im waiting on the response of becoming a vendor. Im up for any location really, think it would be best in the center of the US so west and east wouldnt have to travel as far. :thumb:
GDZHHR 09-11-2006, 02:46 PM Bonnie and I are heading down to Branson this week-end. I'll see what we can find out. I know that they can handle anything we could throw at them. and there is more to do than we'd have time for!
I've never done anything like this before so what sort of things should I look for and ask about?
deerman 09-11-2006, 04:08 PM finally I would just like to say Pat (scaleguy) I feel strongly that you should be our regions/clubs leader/president as I have never seen a more active person in a car club type of thing in all my years as a car freak!! you are the man!!
If we ever need a treasurer :guns: it has to be Z-man cause that guys nuts!! and nobody is gonna mess with him!!!LOLOL:poke:
Yea...what he said :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
Z-Man 09-11-2006, 05:21 PM Hey Guys
It sounds like we are the Region that has it. Mid-Central region :yourock:
We now have a South Central Region name MEMORY-X who wants to get in with a crazy Mid-Central HHR owners. Well I welcome him with opens arms.:welcome: :thumb: I think this is great. :thumb:
Oh yea OLDSCHOOLfreak thanks for the kind words. I just want to say that MEMORY-X has a good Idea. This is what I think should happen. When all of the Good Sites that
(Pat) Scaleguy was talking about a lot of Great Locations for our Big Bash 2007 and when all of the Information is put out w/ Location & options.
Then we should have a posted Date & Time for every one who wants to go, anfd they must vote for their favorite pick! Then the one with the most votes win's. I am sure that the winner will be Some were in the middle of the following states, IN, IL, WI. MO, OK
I am looking forward to the Big Bash of 2007. I honestly think it wil be a larger turn-out then i imagine! Cant wait to see everyone again!
Oh Yea! OLDSCHOOL stay out of trouble!!!!
scaleguy 09-11-2006, 06:31 PM you guys do the research and give us the lowdown...cool
scaleguy 09-11-2006, 06:52 PM Okay now the fire has been lit it is time to roll...GDZ is going to Branson this weekend, when can you have your research ready GDZ? I am asking because we need a deadline for this location decision so we can get busy...Once we decide on a location we need a date. I can have my research on spots by the end of September so if GDZ and Memory-X can be ready by then I say lets present everything on the first weekend of October then put it up for a vote. We will then need everyone to work their calendars, there is going to be plenty of lead time, but we need to know so we can get this run listed...everywhere. Once the date is set then we will need a flyer (we can work a nice design especially if we have any photoshop experts, if not I can freehand something or get us help via photoshop from my kid or somebody at work) and sponsor requests forms (I have these). We are going to need to decide on judging criteria and get those judging forms printed to insure that we are doing the most fair job of judging possible. With these issues being covered we can start a media blitz, I have done this before and have good ideas, and the rest of the committee members can come up wih more inventive stuff too...We can also involve the folks from Musclecar Magazine I am in contact with them almost daily and sent them a good story on the 1st Big Run. This should get us through to January. After the first of the year we can inundate the sponsors with printed, electronic, telephonic and face to face contacts...the goal, massive goodie bags, door prizes to make every other car event jealous and sponsors for our trophies so we can get bigger better trophies for year 2...Also we can work on other SEMA and high dollar builds as exhibitors it was great having Driftwood...I propose setting up a vendor's area to invite vendors in (nominal fee) to sell related parts, goodies t-shirts, maybe a glass etched, pinstriper, airbrush artists, Hey I know how to contact The Discovery Channel...you never know what I might be able to pull off...Here We Go !!! Warning to the commitee I tend to get really amp'd when I get into something like this...
scaleguy 09-11-2006, 06:56 PM Thanks Oldschool, you know that I love this stuff and since I have been involved since I was a kid I have some experiences to draw from. We can do great things with a strong committee and knowing that everyone of us is really into what we are doing. I will do eveything that I can and give my best to whatever we do...I kinda; like you guys a little !!!
GDZHHR 09-11-2006, 07:10 PM No way I can do it by then. Don't really know what I'm doing and we're only gonna be there one day. I'll do what I can, but I need some (read a LOT!) of help.
Again, what should I be looking for, where should I go, what should I ask?
Black Beauty 09-11-2006, 07:12 PM Hey Scale, what ever happened with the magazine article, pics, Did I miss something, or forget to contact someone to get a copy...?
GDZHHR 09-11-2006, 07:16 PM If I could make one suggestion.....
Let's get this next Bash done. To be on the scale we really want we'll need at least a year to build it. I also think we might consider trying to do an annual event that is annual.
We talked a little about doing something with a charity at a super-speedway. That will take more than a one-off comittment to be pulled off. But it would also get more national attention.
I know this is early to talk about 2008 but to do it right we need to start on that now.:2cents:

Sounds like more than I can do this Saturday!
I'll see what's what. If it don't work out, it don't work out. It about a 6 hour drive from here. But then again I do like to drive. Don't have to take Bonnie with me!:D
GDZHHR 09-11-2006, 09:47 PM Maybe I should start by getting a smaller run at St. Louis International Speedway and use that as a stepping stone for something bigger. Maybe a time & Tune on the 1/4 mile to start and then work em to death for the oval.
Anyone have any ideas for a charity to approach?
I have a feeling that the national isn't going to be an chevyhhr.net event anyway from the way that discussion was going. It may never evn happen.
I'd be willing to bet if we did it right we would still get folks from all over the counrty.
oldschoolfreak 09-11-2006, 09:55 PM well hell we got the car craziest sum biotch on the planet in our region!!! (PAT) so im sure if me and a few fellow members knock heads with him we could get that national thingy goin some wheres around these parts!!!

oldschoolfreak 09-11-2006, 10:00 PM hey mike if you can get somethin worked out for around st. louis that would be awesome id love to see the arch check out the rams stadium anything like that we dont have to do a shownshine!! how far is bristol from st.L.?? love to hit the strip as well!!! Get that big kahuna involved he sounds like a nice guy!!!!
scaleguy 09-11-2006, 10:37 PM People if we want a National we will have a National...Here is a secret I was in attendance at the National Street Van Association 1976 Bolwing Green Nationals 10,000 street vans and nearly 60,00 people, the largest of that type of gathering in history. A National you damned right we can do a National !!!
scaleguy 09-11-2006, 10:46 PM Gdzhhr, if you want to put together a charity run why not ask if any of our members has contact with a charity, such as a child being helped by the Muscular Dystrophy Association, or contact the owners of the track and make them the offer of our HHRs and the abilitiy to produce funding through a Show and Shine and track usage to benefit the charity of the track owners choice...Since we are not on the grounds of a religious institution we can have a 50/50 drawing which is always a popular fund raiser, we could actually take some of the door prizes and offer them via a raffle for which you could buy tickets, there are plenty more ideas...

If we did this similar to the way it was done at Bristol, while we would be the group running it, it drew groups of all kinds. Vette clubs, SSR's, Gold-Wings.....
Ours would do the same, plus be a showcase for out group and the HHR! It wouldn't be limited to just HHR's though the show/shione and those activities would. We would be the one running the charity event. There were people running the track non-stop at Bristol and with St. Louis being a bigger city, and more central, I would think that it would end up being a bigger event.
Pat makes a good point......does anyone here have a relationship with a charity?
scaleguy 09-11-2006, 11:05 PM Hey kids with the time and resources that we are bringing to the table for the Big Run '07 we are almost running national event. We will have this run in evey automotive magazine with an event bulletin board, I have mentioned a vendors' area, we can hit some big time sponsors and the pro-builders and rock this sucker. We can discuss some of this at the fall run if you are interested...
Z-Man 09-11-2006, 11:08 PM Mike
Like Oldschool said were a little crazy, Why not ask all the HHR owners in the Regions to meet up at the St Louis Speedway give us a date & Time and we can all ask them as a Huge Group. What do you think of that, How many HHR's do you think you will get. They will have tosay Yes and if not it would be a Great Ride I know its 5 hrs from my house.
GDZHHR 09-11-2006, 11:10 PM Mike

GDZHHR 09-17-2006, 06:40 PM Got a question for all of you....
Are we planning on the Annual event beinga one day thing or possibly a Thur-Sat thing with Sunday being a travel day?
Reason I'm asking is I got a lot of great ideas this week-end and need to know how many days to plan for.:D
Details to follow soon after y'all tell me what we're thinking.
I was thinking that with enough notice, and this being planned for the summer, a Th-Sat. event would be perfect. Everyone arrive Thursday night or Friday morning, with lots of time to have a run and do some vacation/type stuff Friday. Then have the show on Saturday, BBQ/picnic and then a run. The be able to head home Sunday. Those who didn't have to hurry home could get together for breakfast.
If we just want a one-day thing, that's cool too. I'm just thinking we're too fun a crowd for just one day!:D
I think I, meaning Bonnie and me, got enough info to give a more detailed plan by the end of the week.
oldschoolfreak 09-17-2006, 07:16 PM I like Z-man think the annual should be at least 2 days so we can sit and talk and acctually get to know the other persons we have so much fun with!!

That's all I needed to hear!:thumb:
Angelo 09-17-2006, 08:08 PM Im thinking everyone get to the location on wednesday or atleast by thursday afternoon. One day is way to short. Especially if it is Branson. Way to much to do. Leave out Sunday afternoon. With one night, everyone being at the same resturant. (Shorty Smalls in Branson):D to get a good picture and some good eating. I can make reservations so we can all sit together :thumb: Im still researching prices, places, and events for Branson so hang in there.

Give me a PM and let's talk. I'm working one up for that area too and have some great ideas. I was just down there this week-end and have a site for the show/BBQ scouted out that will take 100+ if we need it and it will only run about $20 for the day! Lots of stuff there for the kids too. Alreadt got one GREAT run mapped with bunches of wicked turns and hills and two beatiful spots for photo ops along the way. Camping and lodging right on the lake too!
WA_HHR 09-17-2006, 08:39 PM this sounds good for aleast a 2-3 day event plus travel time. now have there been a date set in concrete yet????
oldschoolfreak 09-17-2006, 08:52 PM nope not even sure where its gonna be yet but anyone from any region will be invited!! kinda a mid-central National thing we are workin on!!
Angelo 09-17-2006, 08:55 PM this will be the annual hhr gathering :D
Z-Man 09-17-2006, 09:08 PM If no one really has any date in mind then I sugest the Date of Aug 9-10-11 of 2007. :thumb: :thumb: Our first get together for the HHR owners in what is called the Mid-Central Region was on Aug 12th 2006 in fun & loving place called Peoria. :thumb:   I would like to hear what other dates other owners have in mind. I hope this will have a final date so we as HHR owners can vote on 1. Location, 2. how many days , and 3. who all might want to Par-take in the most spectacular event of the year 2007 for a Chevrolet HHr Owner.  :thumb: We must get this information out to all, :thumb: After all, this is one of the reasons that this site was put up for, HHR owners sharing information and discussing HHR issues and problems to make our life better for all HHR owners.:thumb:
What do you all think? This is how i feel at this time because I for one will have to ask the big boss for funding and ask for time off of work. Hope to see everyone soon!!
Rolyat1955 09-17-2006, 09:21 PM Hiya Z! Miss ya! I know nothing is set in stone yet so I want to add that i like the dates of Aug 16-19. This is only becuase of my job. I do payroll for our salesmen and they get paid once a month and I can not take off any days before the 12th of a month. But if that is going to be better for everyone else than I'll still be there for the Saturday and Sunday! You won't keep me away now that I've met ya! LOL
WA_HHR 09-17-2006, 09:38 PM a set event date, with plenty of notice would help those of us who have to put in our vacation requests. here its first come first serve on vacation dates.
scaleguy 09-18-2006, 06:15 PM Okay here is my latest I contacted Galena, Illinois, Peoria, Illinois and Wisconsin Dells Convention and Visitors Bureaus today looking for their involvement, financial support and packages designed to convince us to bring a run of this size to their areas today, so we are waiting to hear from them later this week. I have used August as a general time frame, but could use suggestions for the actual dtaes ASAP...I will have a report every Saturday from this point on and updates anytime news comes out that would keep everyone interested. Mike do you have anything that we need to talk about yet with Branson? I am avaliable at work 309 578-3371, home 309 682-6844 or pms here or e-mails at scaleguy61@hotmail.com. Does anyone else have any suggetsions that need to be looked into, locations, dates, activities that you would like to see, all requests like this are appreciated and will be evaluated and investigated...I will try to have final location descriptions ready for a vote by October 1, 2006, but everyone please keep an eye on this site for info...I have used a figure of 50-100 HHRs to attend this event as a target, so we have our work cut out to bring 'em in !!! Yippeeeeeeeeee!
DaJoker 09-18-2006, 07:15 PM I've mentioned it before on the national meet thread that CJ had going that I think Kansas City would make an excellent meeting ground. Central to the whole country just about and should be plenty to do. Branson would also be fairly central for folks as well. Just thought I would throw KC into the ring though.
scaleguy 09-18-2006, 07:17 PM Great Joker I will give it a look. Does anyone here live near KC so we can pick your brains ???
WA_HHR 09-18-2006, 11:36 PM Rolyat
We should hear something soon on the Big 2007 Run. I hope every one would like at least a 2 day event. As WA_HHR stated some of us need to start putting in our Pic's at work for vacation. I just hope others like WA and Your self give SCALEGUY and GDZHHR input, This is what they have been asking for. Can you see it now 50+ HHR's parked in the Lot at the Hotel. You will need a wide angle Lense on your camera. I think a lot more Information will be discussed on the 21st and In-put will be given by all. I just want to have fun and EAT a lot of food at the BBQ, I hope this BBQ turns out to be Big.
Later
a 2-4 day with travel time added, would be fine with me. as long as lodging costs were reasonable, I haven't tried sleepng in the back of a hhr yet. has anyone else???
GDZHHR 09-18-2006, 11:38 PM Bonnie and I are putting a proposal together and should have it ready this week-end.
Basically what we're planning is a Thur-Sun event in Shell Knob, MO. It is a small country town right on Table Rock Lake. about 45 minutes from Branson and Eureka Springs.
We're thinking arrivals Thursday day/night. maybe a run to Eureka Springs, there's a cool little go-kart track there!:D
Friday we will have time for people to fish, rent boats, jet ski's whatever on the lake. A run to Branson late afternoon or if we have enough people we could have one to Eureka Springs also. Both places have lots to do.:thumb:
Saturday there is a facility that would run around $20 with a large pavilion, playground, tennis/volleyball courts and a parking lot that will handle 150+. Lots of shade. Perfect for the show/shine/BBQ/picnic. Then that early evening we've got a GREAT run planned. 30-40 miles, lots of cool turns and hills and at least two spots for photo ops.:one:
Sunday, breakfast and drive home.
I've got contact info for 4 car clubs in the area to find a couple of cruise-ins we could hit. also be contacting the Chamber of Commerce.
There's is a great campground run by the Corp. with all levels of sites. These can be reserved by a group up to a year in advance. There are also several resort/lodges in the area. Most of these are family run and are not fancy. Clean and reasonable. Camping would be $12-16, this includes sites with water and elect., yes there are showers too. The lodge/resorts run $60-100+. It all depends on how close you want to be to the lake.
More specific details to follow.
If ya got any questions or suggestions, let me know.
GDZHHR 09-18-2006, 11:44 PM This will give all of you an idea of where Shell Knob is. Branson is about a 30-45 minute drive east. I know this is about as far south in our region as it gets, but it would be a blast. Its not a tourist trap and would definately be fun for the whole family.

GDZHHR 09-19-2006, 12:05 AM BTW, we're planning for August. September would be way cool because Shell Knob has a festival and a car show, but school will have started so we know this would be tough for parents.
Rolyat1955 09-19-2006, 07:01 AM I think it's going to be hard to pick where to go exactly when all of the proposed sites are put before us! I've been to all of the places they are getting info for and they are all neat places to go to, each with neat things to do. We'll know pretty soon though, the info will all be put before us by the end of September and then we'll get to vote! Can't wait!!!
Black Beauty 09-19-2006, 07:05 AM WA HHR, I remember the drill instructor too, that must have been one of those "fill in the blank" type sayings. scaleguy 09-28-2006, 08:31 AM Okay folks I have appointments with a major hotel/waterpark and others in the Dells this weekend, to discuss their offers to get us to bring the Big Run up there...I will be looking for room rates and package deals(waterpark, food, show facilities, etc) from the hotel, discount packages on entertainment, shopping etc from the Convention and Visitors Bureau and sponsorship from individual businesses, as well as support from local law enforecement for our Saturday afternoon cruise during this weekend. I f you would lik eto have access to the page and be considered for membership in this new club please contact me with your e-mail address and I will send the required invitation to the site...Please watch here and the group site for updtaes on my findings on the site proposals...

I'm just looking for clarity.
Is the Big Bash 2007 being planned a Mid-Central event or something for the new club that you're starting?
Thanks for any info.
Rolyat1955 09-28-2006, 12:47 PM I'm still pretty new here, but I'm just wondering if it makes a difference who/what is hosting? Isn't the objective to have the biggest run and get the most people TOGETHER and let everyone have the MOST fun they've ever had and the MAIN point-GET THE BIGGEST GROUP OF HHR'S TOGETHER in one spot ever? If it's one as opposed to the other, does that mean that the Shell Knob proposal would be gone?
I'm not out to stir up trouble, but if we start getting nit picky about who's doing what than that just defeats the main purpose and reason for all working towards the same goal!
I just want to have FUN and see as many HHR's all in one spot as I can! I love my car and my car loves me! Just like we all should!
thank you for allowing me to put in my :2cents: and I really can't wait to meet everyone at the run on the 21st!
Love to all

I'm not trying to start anything either. I'm just wanting to know because it was stated to go to the club site for info but it is a invite only club, which is fine and understandable.
Honestly, I don't want to waste my time trying to plan a potential Mid-Central event when there is a club that is planning an event for the same time frame. It not fair to either. That's the only reason I raised the question. That doesn't mean that the Shell Knob proposal will be gone but there should at least be a little communication between the people who are trying to plan these things for everyone.
That's why I asked for clarity. If for no other reason, I'd like to be able to tell people who I talk to about planning this who is putting the event on.
I have asked to be a member of the club. I'd like to be active in any regional group related to HHR fun!
Hopefully, Pat will clear this up soon. I've got one sponsor who is signed on and has some cool GM/Chevy stuff for us. They're not really concerned about where the event is, they just want to show support for a Chevy related event.
scaleguy 09-28-2006, 01:47 PM All you had to do was ask for an invite to the other site, which will be the club site until the real one is finsihed. the run is the run, we have had this discussion before when you were not present so here is the deal...The forum is not a club, it is a place for the exchange of info etc, a club will allow us the structure and rules to handle bigger better runs and to be better able to govern things like growth, finances etc, so we will always involve the forum because we are part of the forum, but I don't feel that we have enough structure as just the forum to handle the issues that will come with bigger better runs...There is no conflict in my eyes, the Dells, as well as the Missouri proposals are just that, proposals, and as I have stated all along will be dealt with by majority vote, this has been clear from the beginning, when we said let's look for alternative sites. I would suggest letting the site be determined before you chase sponsors unless they are willing to be involved no matter the location. You stated that you asked to be a member, I have not recieved your request, send me your e-mail address and you will be given the invite to the other site, understand that the other club is forming, we are on draft two of the by-laws and we are still open for logo designs. if you have further questions concerning the club or the Dells proposal then you are free to pm me and we will discuss it...
scaleguy 09-28-2006, 01:58 PM I need to know if there would be interest in group activities, such as a mini-golf (putt putt) tournament or a go cart race in the case that the run goes to the Dells, there are excellent facilities for both and I will see if we can get a special useage deal for our events, other events can include a winery tour, rides on the Ducks (WWII amphibious vehicles) lots of shopping in downtown Wisconsin Dells, amusement parks and the hotel will have the largest or second largest indorr waterpark in the world, so if you have desire for any kind of these activites let me know so I can work a deal on those costs as well...

dhickey 09-28-2006, 04:37 PM I have been to the Dells many times. They have many awesome mini-golf courses and the go car tracks are a blast. You pay one price for the day and you get to ride all the tracks (around 30 I believe) and the roller coasters.
The ducks are pretty fun, they do get you out in the open and then the guides ask you to purchase things from them. It is not too bad. The water parks seem to be crowed a lot so we have never hit the water parks. Just outside of town is a narrow guage railroad that you can ride on small train with a steam engine. That was fun. Of course, it is a tourist location and there are many tourist related shops..
I would love to see the Table Rock area also...You guys a spending a lot of time on these and we all appreicate it.
Thanks
Don
oldschoolfreak 09-28-2006, 05:15 PM I love go carts scale!! and mini golf is cool to!! i just sold my go cart about 2 yrs ago then moved to the country and I miss it!!
Rolyat1955 I think that is the main objective of the big bash in 07 to get as many of us crazy hhr peeps in one place at one time as possible and i think that is the idea on 99 percent of our minds any whoo!! i dont care where it is as long as we draw a huge volume of hhr peeps and I think it will be polled as to where it will be right here on this site!!
dhickey 09-28-2006, 10:36 PM I agree with OldSchoolFreak....I want to see a huge volume also. Mike and Pat are working on some cool choices..

Mike, I think the only thing undecided is location. I'm sure someone else will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think our plan is for August. Same month we had our first event.
Hope this clears it up for ya, but like I said I may be wrong.
SIHHR 09-28-2006, 11:26 PM Thanks Mike. Our event is going to be for the Spring time of 07. Anyone is welcome to come.
Black Beauty 09-29-2006, 06:46 PM Been watching this thread from afar, wondering why the "BIG" RUN 07 now seems to be a Mid- something or other thing . Shouldn`t this be a country wide discussion, in the General Forum section, not in ONE region?
How did the Mid-Central Aug.07 Run somehow become the BIG RUN?
Z-Man 09-29-2006, 09:10 PM Hello everyone
I think we have gotten away from what I heard everyone talk about on July 22nd at the Mid-Central region very 1st Run. We all talked about Having fun and getting together and spending time with one another and just enjoying everyones friendship. What Happen. To me That was a special day for me and the Z girls, we met a great bunch of people. Does any one know what happen. Is something wrong in this region or is it just me.
deerman 09-29-2006, 09:45 PM Well Z, I think everybody has great ideas and thoughts, but I think at times we put the cart before the horse  . We all get a little short about things when we try to do a good job, and things just don't workout :thumb: . All things come too those who wait  .
Z-Man 09-29-2006, 10:27 PM Well Z, I think everybody has great ideas and thoughts, but I think at times we put the cart before the horse  . We all get a little short about things when we try to do a good job, and things just don't workout :thumb: . All things come too those who wait  .
Yeap Your so right
Black Beauty 09-29-2006, 10:45 PM That doesn`t answer the question, How did the Mid-Central Aug. 07 RUN, become the BIG RUN for the entire country ?
There was mention of a forum wide meet in Denver or someplace, at a mountain resort. Then We (Mid-Central) started planning "our" regional meet, some one DUBBED it the BIG RUN or BIG BASH , and all of a sudden we were planning a national event.
Z-Man 09-29-2006, 11:32 PM To all
well I was under the Impression that this was a Idea for the few of us that were at the Run on July 22nd 2006 and then came the Open house that was open to any one that wanted to go per the thread that Scaleguy put out now the Run in 2007 is the same thing as the one in July 2006 but I remember people saying that we could have a big one if it was planned right and we could have HHR owners come from all over the US. I dont know what is going on but all I would like to do is meet up with all of you when I can and enjoy everyones company and friendship. I don't think that is asking for much. So I guess I will just sit back and let who ever wants to say what ever. They can plan what ever they want and were ever they want and if I can make it We will go and attend what ever event that is being held. This is getting out of hand.
Enjoy your HHR's and be safe
Good by to all for now
Pizzaman 09-29-2006, 11:45 PM Z-man, I agree with you, I am very willing to go to nearly any meet that is scheduled in a good manner. But, I am much more interested in going to a fun get together with friends, have our show and cruise, and hang out. I doubt it if I will be able to make it to all of a 3 or 4 day run. I have a business and 2 young kids and as much fun as the run will be, they come first. One pays the bills and the other two give the hugs. I will try and go, but.....
oldschoolfreak 09-30-2006, 12:19 AM Z buddy the idea for the 07 event is to draw as many hhr people to our annual event since the national event was pushed back to 08! Not that we are triing to take over the national event!! No matter where it is ,when it is, or who is there, My main objective is to hang with yall and visit and have a good time (and you know WE get together) it will be a friggin blast!!! LOL Now this is just my take on the whole thing if I am wrong someone please correct me!!
I plan on havin a blast if we meet in a cornfeild in the middle of bfe and give a corn cobb to the best lookin car there!!LOL as long as all the great folks that were there at the last one im havin fun and lookin forward to meetin new ones like that crazy NIBOR!!! LOL and a whole bunch more!!
One last thing Z thanx bud I owe you big time!!! the 4th amigo!!
GDZHHR 09-30-2006, 01:39 AM I think we're just getting caught up in the name. The idea, though I may be wrong, is to make the region event so attractive that not only will those in the Midwest not be able to resist but people from all over will be attracted to our fun and magnetic personalities!!
I don't think this is in anyway being pitched as a national event, just one that people from across the country might want to join us for.:D
But of course, I've been wrong before!;)
Black Beauty 09-30-2006, 07:55 AM It appears that this thread has lost it`s usefulness. Lock it down.
How about discussing a MID-CENTRAL RUN, in the MID-CENTRAL regional SITE, let all other regions, Clubs, etc; have their discussions and RUN plans in /on their site. Then when WE`RE talking about MID-CENTAL stuff, we`re all on the same page.
Just as we now have a RIDE of the MONTH, no other region (member) should be posting their pics for entry.
Lets be Mid-Central region, let the National commitee (if there is one ) plan the BIG RUN ( 07-08 ) Maybe someone would like to start a National Commitee, But our little group can`t handle it.
Novadiecast 09-30-2006, 09:02 AM bb and all, I think the big run 07 is for the Mid Central group. If you remember the Sign up here post we were looking for Volunteers to help put together the runs.
http://chevyhhr.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3996
Fall run
Winter Run
Spring Run
Big Bash Summer Run
The Big Bash as I have called it was meant to be the largest run of all and most likely would draw a larger crowd. It is just being put on by the people in the Mid Central Area. Fall, Winter, and Spring are all one day events as put together by each comitee. The Big One is being planned by Volunteers who have put together some great ideas and done a GREAT job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hope it is the largest ever HHR Convention. Keep up the Great work!!!:thumb:
oldschoolfreak 10-01-2006, 12:33 AM well put Nova, i dont see where the confusion is on the summer big bash/ midcentral annual run and meet, its the same thing correct? the other 3 runs fall, winter, and spring are 1 day events for us to get together for fun and games, and the big bash is a several day event for those of us(Z,BB,myself,Nova, whomever) can spend some time sittin talkin gettin to know our fellow hhr buds a little more indepthly!! I think you all (mid central) people are one of the best bunch of folks I have ever met and want to spend more time gettin to know and hang with Ya`ll!!! I being a car nut would also like to see the most hhr owners in the world gather at one of our events (midcentral) because we are such a great bunch of folks that the rest of the country wants to come spend time with us!!! WHATS the harm in that? any way i hope to see you all on the 21st where we can spend some time sitting and discussing this face to face!! later Tony
scaleguy 10-02-2006, 05:56 AM Everyone, I would like to say something concerning this run issue..this club issue...this site issue...it is obvious that while the administration of this forun sees no issue with a club...others simply do not understand the usefulness of it so as the club was my idea I will withraw it from all matters dealing with this forum, when I mention it I will do so in the general forum...you may chose to join, to attend runs and functions organized and run by this club and you will find the same people there, for the most part, as you would at a Mid-Central Regional Run. I hope that this will solve this issue
Black Beauty 10-02-2006, 06:42 AM Why do you want to post "your" CLUB info on this site?????
It is not general info for this NATIONAL FORUM.
oldschoolfreak 10-02-2006, 09:14 PM Hey BB not to argue but if your not interested why even bother to ask? just dont join the CLUB?? I would still hope to see you at the runs and i dont think everyone in the mid central is goin to join but why the dislike of the idea?? Im not slammin u bud just curious to know why you are so against any type of post about it?

SindyDix 10-02-2006, 11:18 PM It would be a shame to have a second attempt at a National event not happen!
Although I'm not one to be involved in it's organization, I will support it by attending and paying any fees to register for such an event!
I want a National Event DANG IT! I want somewhere to drive my HHR to next summer for vacation!!
GDZHHR 10-02-2006, 11:20 PM It would be a shame to have a second attempt at a National event not happen!

Sindy, this was not originally intended to be a national event. Just one so cool that everyone would want to come to it. As you can see though things have gone Twilight Zone in the Mid-Central.
SindyDix 10-02-2006, 11:22 PM Well, if it ends up a National, I wanna go!

scaleguy 10-14-2006, 10:34 AM WHY IS THIS STILL AN ISSUE ??? Like a vampire, this life sucking parasite still rears it's ugly head...The Mid-Central region is fine and will continue it's self-repair...all of you need to realize that there will be issues and they wll be handled, and sometimes it ain't pretty, sometimes it doesn't get fixed and simply leaves or it keeps trying to stir things until EVERYONE ignores it...Stop dwelling on this and it will finally wither and die, no more posts and most certainly no answers to ignorant posts...Toms I really don't like the thought that you feel so alienated, maybe you could keep an open mind for just a bit longer and you as well as everyone else here will see that this was all growing pains...Please keep your eyes open to posts concerning a large run for August of '07, please ignore detractors and see what will be offered...Pat
Z-Man 01-01-2007, 03:09 PM My Wife & I are planing our Vacation dates and I have not seen any thing set for our Runs as a Set dates on anything, Did I miss anything I need the Set dates for Table Rock, The Dells and any other Runs we are planning oh yes when are we going to have our BBQ at Oldschools House that he said for the Hug Roast or are we still doing that. The Gezt list will be out soon which will list a huge number of runs, shows and cruises that the club members and the regional members might also be interested in and I will be posting many of them as well. I will be posating here, and at the club sites on yahoo and bravenet...If you need anything else give me a call this evening at home and we can discuss stuff...We definitely won't be leaving you out !!!
scaleguy 01-01-2007, 03:48 PM Correction, I forgot the g2g in St. Louis with GDZHHR on January 13, 2007
Z-Man 01-01-2007, 04:37 PM Thanks
midnightmikedj 01-03-2007, 04:07 PM I have set the dates for the Dells run on my calendar. My wife and I will be there.
midnightmikedj 01-03-2007, 04:10 PM Have there been any talk about which hotel(s) it will take place at? (The Dells that is.) Z-Man, I will try and go to the World of Wheels on the 27th. The Bears will be out of the playoffs by then.
Z-Man 01-03-2007, 05:44 PM Cool I hope to see you there, Nova or I will be posting the Time we will meet at McDonalds in side McCormic place soon.
scaleguy 01-03-2007, 06:49 PM Midnightmike, the run is being hosted by the Kalahari Resort, they are providing an amazing room rate, but I will also be providing pricing for other hotels, camping etc, so everyone has the ability to choose their lodging and control costs as they see fit. I will soon produce the run flyer and a detailed cost structure and I will provide you will all avaliable information.
To all interested the run dates and host hotel are set and I am working details such as activities for all of the family. I will be going up a couple of times prior to solidify the details and club members are preparing to further our search for sponsors and all of the things that will help make this a run worthy of the group and all who will attend...My Canadian friends, this run might be far enough north that you guys would consider coming down, we will do everything to make your run a great one...
The trophy, dash plaques and t-shirt designs are well on their way the sponsors are joining earlier than even I expected and the club members are readying themselves to amke this run a great one...
midnightmikedj 01-04-2007, 02:53 PM Sounds good guys. I'll be looking forward to the flyer so we can make our plans for the Dells. By the way, I own and operate a mobile dj service and I don't know if we will ever have a show big enough to warrant this, but if it's local and I'm available, I wouldn't mind doing it. I do all of our car shows for the Buick Club I belong to and I also do the Palos car show, and the Gorilla Days show in Woodridge on the Fourth of July. I go out and spin the "oldies", and do the announcements. The Chicago Chapter of the GS (Gran Sport) Club will be at the World of Wheels as well with some of their cars, so I am going to try real hard to get there.
scaleguy 01-04-2007, 03:27 PM midnightmike I will be pm'ing you as we need to talk about your mobile dj business
Z-Man 01-04-2007, 04:21 PM I think we need to come up with a summer event so we can BBQ and Eat, Dance to music Hey Oldschool how about at the Hog Roast. What do you say.

midnightmikedj 01-10-2007, 04:29 PM Wow, I just checked out the Kalahari Resort website. The place looks fantastic. Jungle room huh? Sounds fun!
Z-Man 01-10-2007, 05:14 PM We are going to have Tons of Fun the Wis in Aug 2007
HillsdaleHHR 01-10-2007, 05:17 PM The dells are great. If you like water parks be sure to visit "Noah's Ark". Its a blast.
scaleguy 01-13-2007, 10:25 PM Hillsdale we are basing out of The Kalahari with a righteous indoor and outdoor waterpark !!! You are right though Noah's Ark, and the other hotel resorts have fantastic waterparks...I am trying to set up a mini-golf tourney and a go-cart race during the event right now !!!
scaleguy 01-14-2007, 10:23 AM midnight the Kalahari is off of the hook the place is huge but everything is spotless!!! and there service is impecable we also have a great room rate. I will be posting a review of the package in February as wel as having video avaliable of the Kalahari and the areas an places where we are planning events...
HillsdaleHHR 01-14-2007, 10:44 AM For those that have never been to the dells.............There is tons to do! There is an awesome Mini golf place with waterfalls and beautiful landscaping, the most awesome go karts you can imagine (3 and 4 storys tall), water parks, River Tours, shopping, and oh yeah food. They have one place called Wizard Quest. It's geared towards kids but adults can have just as much fun there. Its a world all its on with tunnels and rope bridges to explore and many puzzles to figure out. I went with 3 other adults and had a blast. We didn't even get all the puzzles figured out:red: . There's even a few roller coasters in town. This place gets really busy during the summer so I can only imagine what kind of attention a car show would bring. If you want to get an idea of what the dells has to offer visit www.dells.com.
Z-Man 01-14-2007, 02:03 PM I hope that you and yours will be able to attend and enjoy the fun with us.

midnightmikedj 01-16-2007, 08:38 AM Have you guys already made your reservations at the resort?
scaleguy 01-16-2007, 10:33 AM Nope, but I am doing mine soon and I will be getting any necessary codes for our discounts then. I will contact you as soon as I have the codes...I am thinking going up soon for a few meetings and checking out venues. The t-shirt designs are almost ready for the club members to evaluate and sponsors are coming aboard. Now that it is the new year things will quicken and information will begin to flow...Pat
calgaryhhr 01-21-2007, 05:39 PM Hey scaleguy, just wanted to ask a question about the dells information flyer you said you would be putting together. I just wanted to know where you might be posting it. I haven't paid much attention to what has been going on here but I've read the last few pages on this thread. I'm interested in heading down for this and I just want to make sure I'm somehow in the loop.
HillsdaleHHR 03-04-2007, 02:15 PM Any new word on this?
scaleguy 03-06-2007, 12:53 PM Lots of new words, We are finalizing the new host hotel, this week and haev a great deal...Sponsors are coming on board and here is a teaser...the last artist to work and travel with Ed "Big Daddy" Roth is sponsoring the run and is producing a signed original custom HHR design as a door prize...add that to the George Barris sponsorship and this run is taking on a very cool flavor...I will post an update by Friday to provide the reservation details and pre-entry stuff and a contact site where we can provide info without taking too much space here on the forum...If you have specific questions you may contact me via pm or e-mail me at scaleguy61@hotmail.com...
HillsdaleHHR 03-06-2007, 12:55 PM Sounds like things are shaping up great. Since I'm still unemployed I may just have to make a day trip and just camp out in the back on my HHR :D.
scaleguy 03-08-2007, 11:39 PM Hillsdale, there are some very affordable lodging choices so if you would like info on those let me know...and you can definitely have a ton of fun on the cheap at this run...

tcstoy 07-06-2007, 10:45 PM My pre-entry is going out in the mail tomorrow - 07/07/07. Hey, must be a lucky form. Am so looking forward to this. Hopefully my son will be able to get time off and come along. ;)
scaleguy 07-07-2007, 08:25 AM The pig roast looks doubtful, but we will be cooking out at the end of the Saturday afternoon cruise...I am ordering the trophies so here are the classes; Stock, Mild Custom, Full Custom, Dealer Custom and Radical Custom along with specialty awards Best of Show, Peoples' Choice, Best Paint, Best Engine Compartment and Best Display...Also ayone who makes it to the show in Peoria on July 21 will be part of the dash plaque, because we will put the group together and take pics to be used as the dash plaque. I will post the trophy class rules later today...Now is a great time to pre-register and definitely to reserve your room. Again, the host hotel is the Howard Johnson's Antiqua Bay or we can provide a website so you may search on your own...we did get a great rate so check it out please, as we are looking forward to seeing all of you !!!

Pat, where do we get the pre-entry form?!?
scaleguy 07-08-2007, 09:01 PM Everyone, when you call to reserve your rooms tell the people that you are in for the Mid-American HHR event, we do have a block of rooms held and at a special rate of $91.00 per night and all registered guests will get a free ticket to Riverview World for each nights stay...The interest is picking up so please call the Howard Johnson's Antiqua Bay to make your reservations...
HillsdaleHHR 07-08-2007, 09:04 PM The number is 1-608-254-8306 :thumb:
scaleguy 07-08-2007, 09:07 PM I have posted the trophy list and classification guidelines for the Dells run Show and Shine. I will include a link to the document...please notify me if you have problems opening the document and I will e-mail it... The document is too big to just post here, so I hope that this is not too inconvenient...A new sponsor is in, an automotive designer who provided two incredible renderings for door prizes. I have just been talking to a very special artist and friend and he has assured me that an incredible rendering will be finished for the run...hint, this designer/artist is the last artist to work directly with Big Daddy Ed Roth...so this design should be off the hook !!!
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Mid-AmericanHHR/files/
scaleguy 07-08-2007, 09:25 PM Update...the trophies are ordered, the dash plaque picture will be taken July 21st at a show in Peoria, (in case you would like your HHR included come join us at this major show). The goodie bags are shaping up really well with three more submissions last week. Door prizes are still coming in as well. The top miniature golf establishment in the Dells is helping with our golf tournament and I am dealing with an amusement park for their involvement in our go cart grand prix...Want to ride the "ducks" or the jet boats we have discounts...shopping, how about an incredible outlet mall and discount coupons...local newspapers have agreed to carry a listing of our event and I am dealing with local radio tomorrow...hungry, yeah we got that covered, with pizza and a full menu at Moosejaw (they have the PT Cruisers with the Moose on top) a cookout Saturday evening at the end of the second cruise...Relaxation with old friends and new, sure why not hang at one of the hotel's two indoor pool areas and hot tubs or the one outdoors...Adventurous well we can do the extreme rides like bungee jumping, a slingshot, etc (visualize a couple of big guys like me and oldschool sitting in a seat an being shot skyward)...We are working with one of the vendors from this site who may come to the run if all of the legal matters can be ironed out and we can show enough interest in the run to make it worth his while...and this is a major vendor too !!! There is a great car wash close so you can wash off the road grime, plenty of restaurants, many willing to give discounts to groups, so we could make our numbers work for us, a casino just a few miles away just in case you want to gamble a bit and a ton of other Dells area attractions...so did you say that you were looking for a great get-away !!!:thumb:
HillsdaleHHR 07-08-2007, 09:28 PM Have been to The Dells numerous times. It is a blast!!! Tons to see and do :thumb: :thumb: Add HHR's and site members and it can only get better!!!
big_gun 07-09-2007, 05:13 AM I just bought a black 2007 HHR LT, and would like to participate! I live in Milwaukee, only 3 hours from the Dells! Let me know what I can do!
scaleguy 07-09-2007, 12:41 PM Here is the trophy info, contact me if you have any questions...
Classification Guidelines
Minor Modifications;
A Minor modification will be identified as a modification with a value of less than $100.00 and that does not result in a permanent change of the vehicle. Examples of Minor modifications are; flush mount locks, decals, shorty antenna etc.
Major Modification;
A Major modification will be identified as a modification with a value of more than $100.00 and less than $1000.00 and results in a permanent change of the vehicle, with the intent to enhance the design of the vehicle. Examples of major modifications include wheels and tires, non-adjustable lowered suspension, custom paint, accent lighting, stereo equipment, etc.
Radical Modifications;
A Radical modification will be identified as a modification with a value of more than $1000.00 and results in a permanent change of the vehicle, meant to change the design of the vehicle. Examples of radical modifications include pneumatic or hydraulic suspension, scissor or gullwing doors and custom body panels. Any vehicle which the total value of all modifications exceeds $3,000 will also be considered a radical custom.
Note; The addition of stock running boards due to the paint chipping issue will not be considered a modification…
Stock Class;
A vehicle entered in the Stock Class will be allowed no more than 10 Minor modifications and will not be allowed any Major modifications. The total value of all modifications must not exceed $1,000.
Mild Custom;
A vehicle entered in the Mild Custom Class will be allowed to have an unlimited number of Minor modifications and will not be allowed more than two Major modifications. The total value of all modifications must not exceed $2,000.
Custom Class;
A vehicle entered in the Custom Class will be allowed an unlimited amount of mild or major modifications, but will have no Radical modifications. The total value of all modifications must not exceed $3000.
Dealer Custom Class;
A vehicle entered in the Dealer Custom Class will be identified as a vehicle which has more than 50 % of it’s modifications performed by the Dealer, or a representative of the dealer before the point of sale, at the point of sale or after the point of sale.
Radical Custom Class;
A vehicle entered in the Radical Custom Class will be identified as any vehicle which has had radical body, suspension, or mechanical modifications, or the total value of all modifications exceeds $3000.
Best of Show;
This award will be determined by a vote of all Show and Shine entrants. The vote will be based on the individual tastes of the voters.
Peoples’ Choice;
This award will be determined by a vote of individuals attending the Show and Shine (the general public). The vote will be based on the individual tastes of the voters.
Long Distance;
There will be two Long Distance awards. The first will be for non-members of Mid-American HHRs and will be determined by Mapquest mileage from the individuals point of origin. If Mapquest is unavailable we will accept trip mileage from the odometer. The second award will be for members of Mid-American HHRs and will be a traveling trophy. The criteria will be the same as the non-members award. Club members cannot win the award two events in a row.
Best Display;
This award will be about creativity and will be an open class. The award will be judged by the Show and Shine entrants and will be judged on creativity, appearance, theme, etc.
Judging Committee;
A committee of judges, headed by the highest ranking club officer in attendance, will have the final decision concerning classifications and judging issues. The judging sheets will be completed by the judges, collected, and reviewed by the judging committee, at which time they will be certified and considered final. Individual judging sheets for your vehicle will be available for your review. The Judging committee decisions will be considered final.
betterof2evils4 07-09-2007, 02:14 PM Question about the "Major Modifications" criteria:
What if the wheels or paint cost more than $1000? Would they then become a "Radical Modification?"
Just curious...
scaleguy 07-09-2007, 03:52 PM "Better" you ask a very good question and we do have a bit of flexability, for instance if you roll in with a nice new set of wheels and tires and you paid $2000.00 for, but that is basically all you have, we could still allow you into the lesser class as you are under the $3000.00 total ceiling. The idea is to try to keep things as competitive and fun for the majority as possible, so we will apply common sense where ever possible. Thanks for asking...
tcstoy 07-09-2007, 05:42 PM Will the trophy classifications for each HHR be decided upon arrival?
scaleguy 07-09-2007, 07:53 PM Yes, we will talk with the owners and make sure that we are being as fair as possible in the placement of the vehicle in a reasonable class. As with any guidelines these are a starting post, then there has to be common sense and reason applied. As the vehicle owner and with these guidelines you will likely already have an idea where you should be. I feel that we will be able to please most entrants, with the classes that we are offering. We added two classes to last year's line up because we are seeing so many owners investing large sums of money for more radical customs or for dealer customs and because there are many more aftermarket opportunities than last year. We are working hard to see that no one goes home empty handed, with great goodie bags, dash plaques and door prizes, but the trophy issue is always a tough one and all we can do is try to be as accomodating as possible.
I did fail to mention that we have also made sure that no judge will be able to judge his own class and by using the multiple judges and judging sheets we are addressing any possibilities that a judge might fail to fairly judge a vehicle or class...
We are also going to attempt to make things easier by parking each class together, so the vehicles can be closer together for judging...I am not saying that we will be completely without issues, but we are attempting to make things go smoothly and give everyone an opportunity to compete...
Luckily there is going to be so many other things going on that the show will be just another part of our weekend !!! I am looking forward to just hanging out with everyone, eating, enjoying a refreshment and getting to know everyone better...maybe sitting around in a hot tub, or around the pools...
scaleguy 07-09-2007, 08:07 PM Wow...44 days and a wake up !!! We are starting to see pre-entry response and the hotel is seeing reservations so here we go !!! If you are planning to stay at the Howard Johnson Antiqua Bay Resort please call and tell them that you are with the Mid-American HHR event so you can get one of the block of rooms that they are holding for us and the 91.00 per night deal, with the waterpark tickets...I will be calling the hotel tomorrow to make sure that the block of rooms will be held for us until at least August 1st...Pat
HillsdaleHHR 07-09-2007, 08:41 PM Room reserved. Days scheduled off. Pre-Entry going out tomorrow. :D May have a couple mods done before the event ;)
oldschoolfreak 07-09-2007, 09:26 PM Me and Bree have our room reserved!!
I guess i should start cleaning the hhr up! Been over looking it while swapping engines in the vette!!

TomsHHR 07-09-2007, 11:02 PM Got mine at the "HJ"
Oh and watch for a "Find the Deer Slayer II Contest"
It would be hard to hide the Deer Slayer!!
scaleguy 07-10-2007, 11:28 PM I talked with the hotel today and they are holding our block of rooms from the general public until August 2...I have good news so far concerning a possible vendor at the run, the hotel has cleared the vendor, now I gotta' see what the state says and get back to the possible vendor. If we can swing this vendor in, you would have the chance to buy some goodies for your HHR while you are with us...Okay gotta' go lots of work to do...still working on games, hot wheel race track, sponsors, getting my HHR ready for a couple of shows before the Dells, making sure the trophys are cool, newspapers and radio stations are on lines...hhhmmmm, whatelse...oh yeah...still gotta' eat sleep and work...I really need to win the lottery...did I mention that there is a casino within a few miles of the Dells???...talk to you soon
Vivid 07-11-2007, 05:24 AM I wish I'd be able to get my feet wet on this one, but things are a little too tight around my work right now when it comes to trying to schedule more than a day or two off at a time. I'll have to revel in everyone's photos from the bash for this one.
scaleguy 07-11-2007, 08:16 AM Hey Vivid the invite still stands so if you decide that you are available for the Saturday (August 25) jump in that HHR and shoot up that is the day with the most activity, if not we will make sure that there will be plenty of pictures...My son is a (semi)-professional photographer (I am sending him to Columbia in Chicago to remove the semi...) and he is going to be one of the vendors offering photo packages and he had agreed to take pics of the run for me as well...and everyone seems to take tons of pics at the runs so we will have it covered...
scaleguy 07-11-2007, 08:46 AM Okay everyone if you don't have any plans for August 24-26 why not grab your gloves, (driving and putting), a swimsuit, the family and come up to the Dells...
scaleguy 07-11-2007, 01:24 PM Okay the local police have been notified and all permits are squared away and we know what it will take to make our vendors legal (just a Wisconsin sellers permit)...so one more issue out of the way !!! 42 days and a wake up...
scaleguy 07-12-2007, 03:00 PM I just received confirmation from Maggie from Race and Street (A forum Supporting Vendor) that she has sent her sponsor goodies for the run...We have been blessed to have really excellent support this year so the door prizes and goodie bags will be really nice. We have received sponsorship from three excellent sponsors this week alone...
oldschoolfreak 07-13-2007, 12:55 PM hey Pat i will get with my bud down at J.C.Whitneys about catalogs to pass out and any freebies from them as well!!!

HillsdaleHHR 07-17-2007, 08:30 AM Pat, do you have a schedule of events. I want to figure out how much time I have open and what things I want to see/do at The Dells this time. Thanks.
scaleguy 07-17-2007, 09:23 AM Okay, let's see...Friday afternoon (the times are being left open until we see who is in on Friday) We have a mini-golf tournament at Pirate's Cove (they are providing reduced admission), then a go-cart grand prix at Riverview World Amusement park (they provided the free waterpark tickets and you can upgrade to the amusement park as well for $8.75) a cruise of about thirty miles round trip including a stop at a "junk shop" with a really cool sculpture garden (sculptures of old car parts and scrap metal), dinner at Moosejaw Pizza and brewery (they have the PT Cruisers with the Moose on top)...and finally just hangin' out at the hotel...Keep in mind no activity is required and there are tons of Dells activities including night clubs, a casino, etc.
Saturday at 9:00 am, the HHR Olympics (fun, silly games, like egg toss, creeper races, Hot Wheel races etc...) the Show and Shine 12:00 to 4:00 pm and then the cruise and cookout at Devil's Lake State Park ($5.00 fee to be in the park and anyone who knows this group knows that there will be some great dishes !!!) , return to the hotel for more hangin' out or Dells nightlife.
Sunday is a more open day to hang out and say good bye to friends new and old, and enjoy the Dells activities, shopping (we have discount coupon books for a nice outlet mall), or whatever comes to our minds...The idea was to have enough HHR related stuff to keep us involved, but to allow for free and family time too...
HillsdaleHHR 07-17-2007, 09:27 AM Thanks Pat :thumb: Definitely have to visit Ho Chunk Casino again. Last time we ended up +$200. Not big but when you only go with $40 that's real good  So it looks like Friday morning we have some free time. Pirate's Cove is awesome so we will definitly plan on that. This is going to be such a blast :thumb: :thumb:
scaleguy 07-17-2007, 09:30 AM All, a forum Supporting Vendor, Maggie from Race and Street, has sent two great door pizes for the run, a nice wall clock, mag wheel style with real rubber tire and a full set of chrome tail light rings (nice quality)...and the products keep coming...Keep watching for an annoucement concerning a possible forum Supporting Vendor being on-site for the run...
scaleguy 07-17-2007, 09:32 AM My wife may want to go to Ho-Chunk as well, we will see...I think that we are going to have a blast !!!
dhickey 07-17-2007, 09:46 AM Scaleguy,
I have been searching through the pages and pages of this thread to see when the date is for this. I obviously have not been paying attention and this thread is now 24 pages long (including all the crap that went on in the beginning). Any chance of posting something more up to date with the dates and maybe in a new thread?
It is up to you, but for someone who used to be more involved, after the first 4-5 pages, i got a little tired (lazy) of looking :-)
Thanks
Don

Z-Man 07-17-2007, 06:13 PM Hey everyone, we have a couple of candidates for the location of the '07 summer run.
Hey Pat
We have come a long way. 25 pages later and still going strong. The Dells
It Sound like IT is back.

scaleguy 07-17-2007, 08:25 PM So where did they say to go for the steak? There are a bunch of really good restaurants and I know of a bar/restaurant on the lake and their steaks are fantastic, and that place is always full !!! I would go there with you !!! We could do Mossejaw Thursday night instead !!! Yeah the chatter about the run is picking up and so is my excitement !!! I will be working right up until we roll out and I am sure that there will still be lots to prep after we get there, but I really feel good about this one !!!

Pizzaman 07-17-2007, 11:55 PM As of today, I am planning to make it to the Dells, but I am having major issues with the remodel and the local "code enforcers". They have pushed me back so far, that last week I woke up and thought it was 1989. lol:lol:
I really miss you guys and i hope to see you all soon.
scaleguy 07-18-2007, 08:33 AM Man, the those code dudes really need to cut you a break...1989 hahaha !!!
