View Full Version : Eibach Pro Drop kit
O6ChevyHHR 08-28-2006, 03:19 PM Hello, everyone, problem fixed now.
Dose anyone have this drop kit on their HHR, I was woundering how the ride was with it on. I dont want to go as low as the goldlines. I think the Eibachs are good enough. So if you have this kit on your HHR be sure to tell me how you like it. :thumb:

larryv 09-01-2006, 08:00 PM  I installed the Eibach pro kit for a female friend of mine and the ride is pretty comfortable the pro kit lowered the HHR about 1in in all four corners so aligning the HHR was no problem. The only firmness felt was from the 30 series tires, but all in all you got to love the HHR! Here are some pictures. :thumb:

SoCalHHR 09-01-2006, 09:34 PM I'd really like to see some pics of this shot now that she's put some miles on it:

Looks like with the rim offset she has - there will be some nasty rub marks on the tires by now. (I'm speaking from experience, as this is what we do all day here.) If a tire sticks out that much on an HHR, it's going to get cut up regardless of the brand of springs. I have plenty of proof right here!
larryv 09-01-2006, 11:58 PM Rear wheel wells have been trimmed. I used a snap-on air saw blade and trimmed 15mm or about a 1/2 an inch. Took about 15 min a side then sanded smooth and used 3M undercoating to protect the exposed metal. She drives the car daily and no rubbing what so ever if the wheels rubbed I would be the first one to pull them off. I will take some pictures of the rear tires this weekend and I believe she has put about 3k miles on the car since. Thanks

20s??
This should cover all you want to know.............
(its amazing what using the search will get you)
 I finished a female friend of mines HHR today. I started with a set of Eibach springs, didn't want to go real low. Was limited on the wheels with a 5x110 bolt pattern so she decided to go with these hub centric 20x8.5 with a 35mm offset. As for tires we went with the BF KDW2 245/30/20, they have a 300 treadwear. Rear outer fenders where rolled just in case, don't want to cut up the new tires. I was suprised with the ride, not bad at all! All in All she is very happy and I enjoyed doing it for her. Oh! can't forget the stubby antenna from SoCalHHR's. Larry in Calif.

larryv 09-04-2006, 12:49 AM  I took some pictures of her car today, 2800 miles have been put on the HHR since the lowering. Sorry for the quality of the pictures but I used her camera. The car is driven daily and has had 3 people at one time and no rub marks on the rear tires. If i had not trimmed the rear fenders the tires would have been cut up pretty good. Here are some pictures of each side.:thumb:
O6ChevyHHR 09-04-2006, 09:14 AM Thanks for the info !
Anyone got pics of this lowering kit with stocker polished wheels and stock tire size ?
RUDEINC 09-04-2006, 11:31 AM Here is a picture (sorry about quality) of the Eibach kit with the factory LS wheels and tires. It might even be a hair lower now than in this picture, because this pic was taken about 5 minutes after kit was installed. At least you can get an idea of the wheel well height. The overall diameter difference between the 215/55/16 (25.31") and the 215/50/17 (25.46") is really minimal so the only difference is the stocker hub caps vs. the polished wheels. Hope this helps somewhat.............Regards

those springs must not bottom out like goldlines do, i trimmed more fender than you did and with a full tank of gas i still rub from time to time
O6ChevyHHR 09-04-2006, 02:48 PM Which ones do you all think i shoud go with, i want to get some 18s by 7.5 on my HHR and not sure what drop kit is best for me? I like the goldlines, but i havent seen an HHR in person with them on.

FIRST- GET an HHR!
Second- completely fill the gas tank
Third- load up the vehicle (with people, weights, stereo equipment, etc...)
Then drive down the bumpiest road you'd *typcially* ever drive on
... then ...
consider how many passengers (on average) you'll end-up carting around on average THEN (AND ONLY THEN)
consider your CURRENT (OEM) wheel size/set-up. Who knows? You might lower it and like the way it looks on the stock (16 or 17) set-up.
Don't forget ... rubbing is mainly all about offset. Properly sized 18's 'might' not rub AT ALL - even on a lowered vehicle (just because it's a 7.5 rim doesnt mean it'll have an OEM offset). Plus- you of all people should know that Goldline's are the lowest- which may, or may not- give you the most headache. Most other manuf's offer about the same drop- nothing significantly noticable to the naked eye, although a marked difference over stock!
You need to figure out/consider ALL of the above *before* you do anything!!!! This choice is yours... based on your needs. If you like posing- get 18's, a grinder, and goldlines - "POSER HEAVEN"!!!

oh yes and with 8.5" wide:D
sorry mike didnt mean to mislead
O6ChevyHHR 09-05-2006, 02:53 PM how about 19s
SoCalHHR 09-05-2006, 03:04 PM oh yes and with 8.5" wide:D

No problem, - it just seems Gold-Lines are getting a reputation for being "the lowest" - but the drop is just 1.75 front and 2.1 rear. Many people have seem them on my personal HHR with side pipes (which make the car appear 2-inches lower!). We have sold many sets of Gold-Lines and not had a single owner complain their car was lowered "too much." And the ride quality is really fantastic for a lowered vehicle.
It just seems a few people want others to think they might drop you too much. Not the case at all. :thumb:
Proper offset is very important on the HHR (or any FWD vehicle), so it's important to choose your wheels wisely. Also, the stock HHR wheels are really only 6.5" wide (even though called "7's"). Right now, the only offsets available in our bolt pattern that fit (unless custom), are +42mm (on 17x7 rims) and +45mm (on 18x 7.5's). Anything less than that will surely net you some rubbing.
Hope it helps,
O6ChevyHHR 09-05-2006, 03:13 PM how about 19s mike?
O6ChevyHHR 09-05-2006, 03:13 PM so looks like i will be bying some goldlines from you Mike!!
