ChevyHHR.net Time out Problems?
Hey guys,
Anyone getting time out errors when trying to use the site every now and then? I got some email alerts of some errors.
Let me know if you recently got an error and how the site is running for you. It may be time for a server upgrade :thumb:

The main problems I have are with the search function not working regularly. Often I get an error message page.
Sometimes the only way I can get to the site is through another section like the gallery.

I have found the following:
Site very slow sometimes as of late (I have highspeed cable)
New posts sometimes don't show as new.
Soemtimes before even logging in the forums show red dots (new posts) and after log in, no red dots or new posts.
I have experienced time outs but only if I leave logged in with no action for long periods (greater than 10 minutes it seems.

I have witnessed what you are speaking of jonyyB, as it happened to me the other day. Once in a blue moon, I'll be cruising the site and I get an error message that the site is unavailable and to try again later. There is a message on the page that appears to contact site administrator, so I'm sure that's why you are getting the messages that you have. Generally, it doesn't last more than about 20-30 minutes and it's only happened to me 2 or 3 times since I joined in April...and I practically live here.
I have experienced more often the problem with the search funtion as mentioned above, but only when I use the search button at the top and type in the little box that drops down. When that happens, I click on the advanced search button and am able to search from there. I have also experienced the red dot syndrome...but generally that only happens when I leave the keyboard for an extended period of time and don't set the forum on the front page.
The only time I experience any delay in postings is when I am on dialup and the post has a great deal of images that need to load...but that is to be expected on dialup.
Due to the growth of the forum and the fact that we are rapidly approaching the 2000 member mark, a server upgrade might be in order. We have alot more people visiting the forum than I have ever seen since I joined as well. Plus, if you're thinking about adding the Garage or a chat room, that will increase the load on the forum as well.

Ditto for me also with hi speed cable access. The search function seems to be the flakiest though. SLOW access seems to be happening more often this past week or so. ALWAYS A GOOD TIME TO GET A NEW SERVER!!!!
