GM announced Wednesday a new 5-year, 100,000-mile power-train warranty on 2007 models that should strengthen its image, not cheapen brands as incentives can do.

But GM is taking steps in the right direction, building a culture that has a passion for the best cars and trucks, invests in new technology and leverages its global resources, he said.

“Very simply, we want to be a company which is built, we think, for long-term success,” Wagoner said.
