Hand wash. Easier on the paint and I know it's done right.

Hand wash but I very well can't do that in 11 degree weather. For this time of year I take it to a touchless place and let the robot clean my car. That way I don't have brushes rubbing on the paint and straps slapping my car.

Was it bender? D'OH! Robot carwash? Got anymore info, cuz I have the same dilema and KILLS me to have to go through the ol' slap and scratch!

It all depends on how much time I can spare to get it wash. Either going to a brushless place or a few different handwash's I normally go to. I love when they makes the tires slick.

Sorry it took so long to respond. We have a place called Laser Wash, I don't know it they are national or just local. You drive up and pay, the door opens up, you drive in and the fun begins. As you are driving in a presoak and underbody wash happens. You pull up to the stop light and this robot arm thing cleans your car top to bottom. Never once does anything touch your car because all its really doing is power washing you ride. The older ones you drive through your standard car dryer thing but at the newer ones the robot drys your car. They do an alright job. Of course I can do better by hand but at least nothing damages the paint.

I try to always wash my car by hand when the weather permits. I wash mine every friday. If I have to use the car wash. I will buff my car afterwards to keep the streaks from showing on the finish.

I always wash my own. I never power spray though, all that does is pound the dirt in to the paint, on the under carriage is ok, but never the paint.

Well it must be nice living in AZ. If you lived in a place where the weather regularly dipped below zero and you had a choice of letting a robot arm power wash your car or taking it through a traditional car wash which really f**ks your paint up which would you choose? I know my choice. I don't think you realize water freezes or not everywhere has warm weather all the time. I'm not talking about power washing your car because your lazy, I'm talking about power washing it because you have to.

Definitely hand wash. I took my HHR through an automatic car wash a few weeks back and the wheel guide made a nice scratch on my front drivers side wheel. No more automatic car washes for this HHR owner.

Its snowing about once a week here so by the time I would get to handwash it itd be back to the ol dirt and salt all over the place. All the car washs in oklahoma are touchless. I havent seen a brush one in forever. Theres one at a conoco I normally go to. For the past monthish I've just been goin there when my hhr gets too dirty bc its been to cold.

It is nice living in AZ, and I do realize water freezes, I was just stating a fact about what power spraying the finish on your car does to the paint. What you do with the info is your own decision, dont get your panites in such a wad.

Alright, I pulled my panties out of my a**! But you will at least agree that a touchless place is better than a brush place right?

the one i go to isnt even high pressure. It just has 3 nozzles and spins really fast.

I don't think that any of the touchless car washes use any high pressure, at least the high pressure you see from your home variety pressure washers. Most of the car washes I believe never exceed 1000 psi, your home system can reach upwards of 2000 psi. Personally, A touch-less carwash is all I use thru the winter. (too damn cold)

Even living on the coast of BC the winter is hard on the hands, but I prefer to wash my new car by hand. But even I have to use the Touchless Car Wash after a trip down a salt covered highway. :(
