O6ChevyHHR 09-22-2006, 08:54 AM nice hows the one 13 sound, are you using your stock head unit, what amp are you using? I want more info on this setup.
en0oNmAI 09-22-2006, 09:40 AM I figured the GMPP exh would fit. The underside of the HHR's are the same as the cobalts... everything line up perfect or where there fitment issues?
FlintHHR 09-22-2006, 12:49 PM Yes, please tell us about the exhaust and how it sounds. Also, you would definately benefit from the new SoCal black valve cover!

I found the K&N intake to be pretty quiet, which surprised me. The exhaust is pretty nice, not much drone at all, very mellow and sounds good when you get on it. Very deep kinda throaty idle sound, i like it very much...
O6ChevyHHR 09-22-2006, 09:47 PM Mike needs to start selling these! lol
dnbguy86 10-11-2006, 10:59 PM Figured i woulda got more replies than 4 on some of the more contreversial parts out for the hhr, i guess didnt impress anyone....:(

Don't be sad ! Looks like a nice setup you have going so far. I like how the sub is simplelike, do you have it to where it can be disconnected easy for spare ? How is the K&N Intake holding up ? Gas Mileage ? We stock them now, and have yet to put one on mine :(.
dnbguy86 10-11-2006, 11:47 PM Yes, the intake actually improved my mpg. My average before the intake on the DIC was 22.3, and afterwards i havent seen below 24.1, so a definite improvement even though i get on it occassionally. As for the sub, i was some what dissapointed with the 13's ability to stay on beat when played loud when beats were constantly changing, it had a hard time keeping up, so in turn i got 2 jl audio 10w1v2's in a ported box to remedy that problem, ill have pics of the new speakers in soon, but dont get me wrong the jl's sound quality was crisp and very clear. As for performance, i'd like to get a header, i was going to get the gmpp manifold but a buddy of mine who is a pro drag racer with lots of knowledge of making cars go fast, said 30cfm isnt really anything to woo about, espically if its gonna be 250+ for the manifold, didnt see the worthwhile improvement so i decided not to get it.
O6ChevyHHR 10-12-2006, 08:54 AM cool its always good to get good mpg!
joesblackhhr 10-12-2006, 10:56 AM yes it is a cool thing

-md- HHR 10-12-2006, 11:43 AM will the k&n kit fit on the 2.2...
Angelo 10-12-2006, 01:06 PM The K&N replacement filters are the same between engine, but K&N shows the intake kit to fit 2.4 only.
dnbguy86 10-12-2006, 08:08 PM I think the valve covers are a smidge different if i remember correctly. Im a little anxious to get this bad boy out to the track and see what kinda difference it actually makes, it feels like it makes more power, but you all know how that goes, cant trust the butt dyno !
SoCalHHR 10-12-2006, 08:14 PM Correct - the engines are two different animals. that's why the two different valve covers.
Hope it helps,
Lee3333 10-12-2006, 08:59 PM I would love to hear a sound clip of that exhaust. The muffler is round and appears to be much smaller than the IMCO one. I also wonder how they compare in performance. And, keeping in mind that the Ecotech likes some back pressure, would it help to add a header? At least all of the cylinders would have equal flow.

Well the exhaust is a gm system made for the ecotec engine line,im sure gm knows what they were doing when they were searching for kits to make available for this particular engine. The ecotec may like seeing more backpressure than most cars, but regardless, performace exhausts are consistently showing gains by removing the stock exhaust. I know socal likes to debate this, so ill give him his chance now...
