Am i missing something? For the life of me, this thing does not screw off! How did you get yours off?

Guess you don't have that "magic touch"!

Is it just not turning at all, or are your fingers just not getting a good grip?

Hey Teech
I just checked mine and mine comes off easy by turning, You might not be getting a good grip or even have the Magic touch as JX3 said but it does come off by turning counter clockwise.

Good Luck

teech try a pair of plyers with some type of rubber (not a condom) material between the jaws and the antenna (so as not to damage it)

Mine was a little tough to get off too. If you're trying to do it from the ground, you might want to get a step ladder or something so you can get more even with it and possibly a better grip. Mine was on there pretty snug. Ideas above should work. ;)

ive gotten it to move, counterclockwise but its not unscrewing...like some kinda "jacket" is slipping around the screw

this was supposed to be an easy 20 min mod!

Okay Teech if you think what you did was funny try this and don't laugh.
Take your mouse pad and try turning your Strong as Steel Antenna with the rubber side of the mouse pad hoping to get a good grip.

Or use a pair of rubber dish washing gloves...in fact anything rubber.....on your hands of course. And condoms are latex (well generally).

I do not have a Kung-Fu grip anymore and mine got off quite easily! (insert pun as you wish) And I diden't need a condom.

the am/fm. Sucker just won't budge. I almost screwed up the antenna assembly cause I was getting pissed off at it. Gonna give the tips mentioned here a good run...mousepads and rubber gloves. Gonna pick up a new pair of plyers on my way home too!

lol. yep. counterclockwise. Its not just me either. I've been to car washes and guys have tried to remove it for the wash. No dice. They have just left it there. If mine was "normal", one of us shoulda been able to just twist it off, right? This sucker does not wanna leave! Im calling in the reinforcements this afternoon. I gonna get my badges off too while Im still mad...

Okay, I figured you knew what you were doing but I had to mention it just incase.

They must have used locktite or have a gorilla installing those at the factory..lol

good luck

I know that this is going to sound silly, but here it goes. Take it back to the Dealer, reason, if the base gets broke, you pay. Might be the screw is in at an angle, stripped, or may be the whole thing is now one peice due to a factory botch. But if you take it back to the dealer have the service agent try. Just a thought.

Had to use plyers (bought new today...never did find mine). The jacket of my antenna was slipping around the screw, so I had to get something that could get a hold of it through the jacket...if that didn't work, it was to the dealer per Karens advise

by the way
