Not sure if HPTuners did mail ins before, however we are working with software that will allow us to do Mail-In Flashes as well.... but that will be quite some time.

So what is the plan of this software? Will it be a controller that reflashes your PCM/ECU or something similar to Superchip? I hope it will be somewhat affordable for everyone.

HPTuners is a VERY in depth program allowing you to change almost everything you engine does and in some cases even the auto tranny. It can allow your MAP sensor and MAF sensor to see boost for SC/Turbo apps and also adjust fuel, timing, fan speed, what temps your fans come on.... the possibilities for this program are endless! There are a handful of guys in Phoenix that have this program and I have seen it in use. They use a laptop to plug into and tune while they're at the strip for better power and to get rid of the bugs of tuning like knock and premature ignition retard. I can't wait to see this when it actually gets released for the 2.2's!!!!

Yea the softare right now is only for the 2.4L... However we will be using it mostly for the 2.0L S/C motors in the Saturn and the Cobalt. We are currently building a car for Saturn to debut here in the east coast on Oct 21st
We will be using HPTuners to allow us to dial the car in on our Inhouse Dyno. I will post results from this car as we complete the projects on it. Right now we have teamed up with some great companies to try and take a 207hp car up to 315hp.

Will have more info next week guys... If you are close to us (Fredericksburg, VA), swing by. We will be doing most of our tuning on our dyno since we have a Load Controller meaning no need to Street Tune.

ProMotionTuning--any info yet on this? I want to get the CGS intake, but want to wait and see what, if anything is coming out to make sure everything will be compatible. Any HHR specific numbers on the HPTuners would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The CGS Intake will be compatible with any future tuning, as it does ot require any additional mapping - it works perfect with the stock programming.

...And makes a VERY noticeable improvement!

HPTuners is out. It has been out. Only for the 2.4 (all years) and the 07 and later 2.2 that use coil-on-plug ignition systems. This is a program you can purchase for personal use. Any further questions check them out... hptuners.com

Be sure and click on their forums too - and check out all the "nightmare" posts like "car won't start" - "help me, car is stalling" - there were a WHOLE bunch of problems last time I checked - PLUS - HP Tuners does NOT support the 2.4's VVT - so basically you won't be able to alter the timing one iota from stock with their software.

If you are in the market for a tune, I would recommend that you stick with Tune-Tyme - one of our loyal supporting vendors. They use a pre-configured (as opposed to "do it yourself") Wester's Garage tune that many members have had great luck with.

Hope it helps,

^-- actually Mike, our local guys did some reasearch on the VVT system on the Chevy's. The VVT part is active all the time and works in conjunction with the ECM and all the inputs it's recieveing to help adjust for the correct adv/ret on the cams. The "variable" part we found out is working all the time and timing is added to the engines via the ignition systems and NOT the cams. Only way to successfully tune the timing of the cams is to remove the VVT system and set the timing like you would with traditional engines without VVT. The power increase you feel is NOT a by-product of the VVT system but the computer entering a "fuel enrichment" mode that is preset at an ungodly RPM. Something unattainable from stock (near 7500rpms). The tuning done with HPTuners on our local Cobalt with the 2.4 VVT engine dropped the fuel enrichment, added timing, raised the rev limit to 7000 and firmed up the shift points. All of which has proven fantastic results on a daily driven (and beaten on) automatic SS Sedan. The people that are having nightmare problems are the uneducated people thinking they can just jump into a VERY daunting and in-depth tuning software. ONE WRONG MOVE AND YOU ARE SCREWED! (<-- just a warning for all those thinking about it!) But the smarter crowd knows you can save the stock program and keep it as a backup in case such things happen like "car wont start" and such.

Most of the guys (like i said) are not very intalligent and are usually shadetree mechanics who can change oil and maybe a radiator or alternator but when it comes to a computer controlled automobile have a very big lack of knowledge.

Don't be turned off by HPTuners just because a few people that don't know what they're doing screwed up. These tunes offered by companies that are just "mail-order" tunes are not always better. With Mail-Order I use this term sparingly to describe the ones that just set a program and ship it to you. EVERY car's computer is different. None are the same and each tune should be setup to YOUR specific ECM. And not a mass tune sent to a few hundred different people but having the same set of parameters. Any real tuner, even the guys with v8's like the LS1 guys on the f-body forums can tell you the same thing. Personal tune via HPTuners or a program of the like will outperform nearly ANY pre-packaged mailorder tune out there.
