simca1955 09-30-2006, 01:11 PM Hello everyone.:D I have never spoke on here before, mainly because I enjoy the site for research, stories, and the polls(oddly these are the only polls I enjoy). But have a story of my own:( Sadly the other day, on my way to work, I had a bad experience. Lots of rain and a couple of zig zags later I rearend a tractor trailer. It wasnt totaled, so Im rebuilding it. So I thought I would just show you guys where Im at and later finished product

James06 09-30-2006, 01:15 PM Ouch! I hope everyone is OK.
simca1955 09-30-2006, 01:31 PM yeah, it was just me. And you talking about a safe and sound vehicle. The hhr is one tuff platform:one:
JonyyB 09-30-2006, 01:32 PM hope it all goes well, looks like you got a new front end?
simca1955 09-30-2006, 01:35 PM a whole front cut off. Since my father owns the bodyshop and i work there on the side, its going to be a different hhr when its finished=me alot of work ahead
tomdent1 09-30-2006, 02:01 PM Glad you found a decent clip.
captain howdy 09-30-2006, 02:03 PM That sucks! :( It's good thing you know what you are doing and can do it yourself. That way you know the work is done right and by someone who cares. :thumb:
ChevyGrlAlways 09-30-2006, 02:27 PM ouch! but at least you are ok and that is what matters
simca1955 09-30-2006, 02:58 PM We will build it back with new dropsprings, skull grill, wheels, imco muffler, cai, hok paint, etc.....
courthousedeb 09-30-2006, 05:11 PM Wow...that sure is a mess. Glad to hear you weren't hurt. Cars can be fixed much easier than people for sure. Look forward to seeing pics when it's all done.
BTW...:welcome: to ChevyHHR.net...lots of knowledgeable folks here. Sounds like we can add you to that list too. :thumb:
chris082676 09-30-2006, 05:21 PM what part of KY you form? Lexington here!! We have gotten a ton of rain over the past week!
SIHHR 09-30-2006, 05:40 PM WOW it was weird seein the front end not attached to anything.
tomdent1 09-30-2006, 06:11 PM I spent a while in Glasgow doing Hail this year.
O6ChevyHHR 09-30-2006, 06:26 PM glad your okay
dbarberaz 09-30-2006, 06:33 PM I fell your pain. Have to agree with you about the HHR is made tough.
Hopefully I have mine back by the end of the week.
simca1955 09-30-2006, 11:33 PM Thanks everyone:D Ill be posting pics as progress is made. I live in glencoe ky, and i crashed 9-7-06. It was raining very hard that day. The bad thing is i missed the first semi, and when i got away from the 1st one there was no where to go and not enough room to stop, untill i slammed the tanker beside it. If i went to the left of the first truck i would have most likely flipped in the grass or slung shot into oncoming traffic. But like i said the hhr is one tuff customer. I hit so hard that the impact caused the rear to come up and land into the guard rail. Only thing that happend to me was some burning on my left arm, and scratches on my right from the debris of the steering wheel coming apart. I love my hhr and it destoyed me to see it in this shape. But i look at it like its a phoneix that soon to arise from its bent fenders and fly again(cheesy huh). Oh well, thanks again for everyones replys John:thumb:
Black Beauty 10-01-2006, 08:56 AM Sorry about your mishap, glad you`re ok, obviously You had on your seat belt, slight injuries... When I first saw the pics, I couldn`t understand how all the damage happened to the rear, good explaination...
Looking at the pics, gives a good opportunity to see some of the body We know exist, but only want to keep nice and shiney.
If more people realized that this is still (only) a veh. and not the END-ALL, We`d all be better off.
Firewatcher 10-01-2006, 09:37 AM Too bad about your HHR. It's something I have always worried about on the highway. Glad you are AOK. Another HHR did it's job! :thumb:
Now...cut the chat and let's see that thing rebuilt! :thumb:
Flyboy6257 10-01-2006, 07:38 PM Sorry to hear about your accident. Glad to know you're ok. Good luck rebuilding it. Gotta love trucks in the rain. Soo much wake turbulence comes off them especially in the rain that it makes the visibility near 0
dixiesHHR 10-11-2006, 05:21 PM Sorry, but nice to be able to rebuild. Had ours three weeks and then in the shop three weeks for hail damage. It was a chance for an cheaper flame job on the hood. Try some 59 caddy tail lights sunk in there.
hookupny 10-11-2006, 06:04 PM Good Luck and Go Wildcats !
I lived in Lexington and Frankfort for 21 years, sometimes I miss Kentucky, Keeneland in the early Spring, foals running along the fences on Old Frankfort Pike, politeness and bourbon balls !
calgaryhhr 10-11-2006, 06:45 PM Looks like there's going to be a lot of hammering on that rear end. I can't imagine it being an easy job to get the contours right on that back piece of metal.
Goose 04-02-2007, 06:39 AM How did this rebuild ever come out?

Henry, on the road again (http://chevyhhr.net/forums/showthread.php?t=6517)
Goose 04-02-2007, 08:08 AM Thanks! Looks great! Sort of scary great knowing that kind of work can be done. To an untrained eye they would have no idea at the amount of damage that car has had repaired

mitzkity 04-03-2007, 01:33 AM HOLY MOLY! What a difference a year can make in the life of a car. REALLLLY sharp and gorgeous. I can NOT imagine the hours of work this took you.
