Since there is a major Transit Strike, They have closed 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue between 23rd street to 96 Street. So emergency cars and pass through. You were either able to walk, bikeride, rollerblade and not have to worry about cars, trucks, or buses.

I've seen it in person but you should for the people that haven't. You can answer this. There is one thing that always confuses me while driving in N.Y. city, can you turn right on red? I do it anyways because thats what I'm used to but I am unsure because of the volume of traffic on the major streets.

There is no Right Turn on Red, unless there is a sign posted, and seeing a right turn on red is very rare and infrequent.

Oops, I've been breaking the law. Good thing I have been lucky and not had any cops around when doing it. It's the opposite here in Rochester. You can turn right on red unless there is a sign telling you not to. Thanks, now I know for the next time I'm there.

First great shots. It's funny, in most states it is "right on red, unless otherwise posted". Is that just a NYC thing or is that state wide? I have been fortunate to have visited NYC once, and it was tremendous! Great Time!

Its just in NYC. Here in Rochester we can turn right on red unless there is a sign telling you not to. That's what lead to my confussion, I guess they are the opposite of the rest of the state.
