Anyone who lowers their HHR will need to get it re-aligned - but the problem is none of the alignment machine companies have the '06 specs in their computers yet! As a reference for all HHR owners, we have posted the alignment specs on our website. You can simply copy/paste them into the program of your choice, print them out, and take them with you to the alignment shop. This should save everyone a lot of grief!

Here's the link: 2006 HHR Alignment Specs (http://www.socalhhr.citymax.com/alignment.html)

Enjoy!

It makes sense for autoshops not to have the spec's yet. But i'm sure after the 1st or sometime in Jan. More shops will have info about the HHR.

Mike,
as in your products for the Springs, camber bolts and shims.. Could you give us additional information about them? Such as , made in the U.S.A or ?? then possible the hardness strength of the springs , and temper strength of the replacement camber bolts. (wouldn't want them to shear off), Material of the shims.... thanks..

We don't "cheeze around" - all the parts come directly from Specialty Products Company (the same place any alignment shop gets their parts), and Gold-Line:

As you can see, the bolts are hardened and coated.
(*These bolts are FAR better than the stock strut bolts in the HHR.)

The Springs are from Gold-Line, and have a lifetime warranty. Gold-Line has hundreds of thousands of sets of lowering springs on the road today.
No messing around here. :thumb:

ok Last question from me b/c I think all others have been answered. What part(s) does it wear on more(and how much more) when its lowered with goldlines compared to staying stock.

It wears more on every suspesion component. SoCal how bad is the steering affected without a bump steer kit?

Most of the people I know that have lowered their car go the extra step and reinforce their entire suspension. This means not just springs but shocks, bump steer kit, caster/camber plates, and so forth to avoid any problems. I would be mos worried about my shocks. When I lowered my Mustang the springs, shocks and struts were all matched.

hmm. I'd have to do that. I wish I lived in cali so I could go to a shop that actually knows how to do all of it. Here in oklahoma kinda hard to find a place like that. Places here would treat it like they were just installing a new set of springs and not know what else is getting affected

I dont think you need a bump steer kit, they have electric steering, but I could be wrong. When you lower the car ou dont have to reinforce the rest of the suspension. I ran factory shocks for 120k when I was lowered, no problems at all other than nomal wear and tear. Only reason I touched the rest of the suspension was to cut better track times. JUst make sure all your suspension geometry stays the same and you should have no problems. On a fwd car there's not much to change that will really effect anything, just ge it properly aligned after lowering it.

What Aaron said. :thumb: The stock electric steering is great - no problems. No need for reinforcement. Read my post above regarding stock struts/shocks. Your mileage may vary.

The answer to that sir would be one so far. SoCalHHR has his lowered and snksknr94 has plans of lowering his. I myself have no plans to do it as of the moment but who knows what the future may bring.

Better re-think that one Howdy!
You've got to give those flames some "roots."
Your ride will look much more custom lowered with flames!

I want more suspension components to come out before I think of lowering it. If I'm going to do something I am going to do it right. I'm still not sold on the not needing a bump steer kit. Even though the steering is electronically assisted the HHR still has a rack and pinion set up so I think you would need one. I would like to fully reinforce the whole set up rather than just slapping some springs on if I do lower my HHR. You know, bushings and all. Thats just the way I am!
