Is the drive mode adjustable? I have goldlines and the pot holes in New Jersey are killing me, and I'm looking into getting something that doesn't kill my suspension with all this pot holes. I would love to ride something close to stock and then when I'm going slow I could ride it low. Thanks teech 10-11-2006, 02:39 PM the socal kit has several modes with a digital controller. one push of a button changes the ride height jx3 10-11-2006, 06:11 PM For those that have airbag systems I have a question. He can offer you a great deal for the set! Check out his images in the gallery, several more shots of Subsub on bags at different heights. O6ChevyHHR 10-11-2006, 06:40 PM Aitbag kits are the chite, but what if you bust a bag. mr.bungle 10-11-2006, 06:55 PM can you get the car lower?, and on the so cal kit, does it only go all up and all down? can it go front then back or side then side? i dig bags but this is more what i was looking for: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZR4lLxiklY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rIZK2Uzp3k SoCalHHR 10-12-2006, 01:46 AM Our kit will totally do what the Audi does in the first vid. It will do side-to-side and nose-up or nose down in the manual mode. But if you want hoppin' action like in the second clip, you should look into hydraulics instead! mr.bungle 10-12-2006, 11:36 AM well no, i don't want hopping action lol but it can be achieved with airbags, and i've seen some crazy ones with i think nitrogen. anyhow if we end up bagging the bar, i just want to make sure its going to sit proper (on the ground) but i do like that digital control in the kit. much better than traditional switch box. BettieSpaghetti 10-13-2006, 12:06 AM SoCal - I like them but if you talk him into baggin' my baby - he's payin for it! ;) O6ChevyHHR 10-13-2006, 08:00 AM lol yeah dan-d 10-13-2006, 08:38 AM I'll try to answer some of these questions: Each corner can be adjusted independantly in the manual mode, you can also control both front, both rear, or any combination of corners you want. The digital control can be set to automatic ride height at any height you desire and can be changed at any time. With the 1/2" air lines the adjustment pops up and down pretty darned quickly, almost rivaling hydraulics. However, it does have limitations related to the air supply. The tank isn't huge and the compressor obviously can't recover the air supply as fast as a hydraulic pump. But these things can be remidied if so desired by adding more compressors and / or a larger tank. This setup is designed to run multiple compressors if so desired. Someone asked about a failed bag. Well I'm sure it could happen although pretty doubtful. If you could see these bags you would understand. They're very heavy duty and are actually designed to work on heavy trucks but were adapted by the manufacture for this application. Hope this helps. -Dan traketo 10-13-2006, 08:51 AM Hey dan-d, I have another question for you. If you ride it higher than the automatic ride height, will it be a rough ride or soft like stock? thanks dan-d 10-13-2006, 09:03 AM Hey dan-d, I have another question for you. If you ride it higher than the automatic ride height, will it be a rough ride or soft like stock? thanks The firmness of the ride will differ depending on how much air pressure you put into the bags. The higer the ride height the firmer the ride will be. I kept mine at 55/60 up front and 45/50 in the rear. This gave me a nice lowered stance (similar to the Goldlines) and a nice ride, so the comfort of the ride as well as ride height is all up to you. But if you hit the all up button and let it pump up to max it will be pretty stiff. Kinda fun though...LOL Ronzo 10-13-2006, 09:08 AM I wish I had $2500 that I didn't know what to do with... O6ChevyHHR 10-13-2006, 09:18 AM thanks for the info herojoe 10-31-2006, 02:50 AM One more quick Q... I'm gettin a fat bonus soon, and plan on putting A LOT into the HHR. So, will the bags and sway bar effect eachother in any way if I get both? SCOOT 10-31-2006, 07:36 AM One more quick Q... I'm gettin a fat bonus soon, and plan on putting A LOT into the HHR. So, will the bags and sway bar effect eachother in any way if I get both? HERO- Although I DON'T have an aftermarket swaybar on my HHR, I can tell you the purpose of the swaybar (or 'anti-sway' as it's commonly known) is to "tie" the rear end together- left & right. This mod affects lateral movement, which is whats experienced when going through twisty's. I think the ONLY time the swaybar is adversely affected is when the vehicles 'twisted' (e.g. drivers front is jacked up, passenger rear is lowered). Seeing that this would rarely happen under normal driving conditions (even with bags), I'm sure it would only IMPROVE your HHR's overall handling. :thumb: SoCalHHR 10-31-2006, 02:31 PM Scoot is correct; the sway bar will work without problems on the bag kit. It's main enhancement is preventing wind sway, or lateral sway from the rear under hard cornering. You will not have any conflict in using the Air Suspension Kit and sway bar together. Hope it helps, herojoe 11-01-2006, 11:22 PM Great. That's what I thought... but wanted to make sure. Love the support our HHR community has! |
