Thought this would be a good start for a LA GTGs Thread

(I searched the forum and didn’t find anything else quite like it? Apologies if I’ve missed it!)




Here is the first GTG of this thread…

Some of you may have been watching the New Member thread in the General HHR Forum about us hitting up Clearman’s Galley for a GTG. I am posting it here so nobody can miss it!!

I am very excited to meet all of you and check out your cars. YAY More HHRS!

Well, it's a Saturday, and I don't really see any reason why I can't make it out after I ship out the morning's orders!

I'll check with my other half. If she doesn't have anything planned we could probably make it.

I should be able to be there. Bettie I live off the 210 between Simi Valley and Pasadena.

If I can get my car washed and waxed by then I'll be there.

We're going to the pumpkin patch in the morning, then, we'll head over to Clearmans. Is this place related to the Clearmans "Northwoods Inn"?

Yes, which is right next to the "Golden Co Ck" resturant. No kidding, that's the name of it. I thought that was odd when I was a teenager and we would go there!

Northwoods Inn is one of our favorite restaurants.

Andy has found a couple of car shows that are in the area that afternoon. He will post either later tonight or tomorrow with the specifics. I know that one is in Glendale and one is at the El Monte airport. We thought it might be fun to go to one of these car shows with some of the people who go to Clearman's (if anyone else in interested).

Holy Moly! In Pasadena area?? I've lived in OC 15 years and still haven't seen Pasadena or vicinity. Guess you can count DH and MOI!!!

Andy has found a couple of car shows...... I know that one is in Glendale and one is at the El Monte airport.
I'm up for going to the El Monte air port! I know exactly where it is.

There are a couple cruise nights that are pretty close to Clearman's one at the El Monte - El Monte Airport - 4PM - 9PM formerly Fuddrucker's Pasadena cruise night and Bob's Big Boy, 1407 E. Glenoaks Blvd. 6-9PM. I don't know if anyone would interested in going to these after Clearman's GTG.

We're free for the asking...name the time and place.

Here is another great Saturday outing. Boyd Coddington is going to be at Auto Book, Aero Book Store in Burbank. 134 freeway to Hollywood way to Magnolia, turn right one block. He is going to be there signing autographs etc. For more info call Doug Stokes at (818) 845-0707. Tell him Bud sent you. Many many books, and over 2000 diecasts, so bring you credit cards.
I wish I could make it but to far away for me. I hope you guys enjoy.

We've been watching you all for a long time, but have never jumped in and gotten our feet wet. Here we go.:steering:

We're looking forward to seeing our Solvang friends again. We will being leaving Fresno Saturday morning and plan on meeting you guys at 1:00 pm. We are interested in going to the car show at the airport as well. Ken has made a lot of additional mods to the car since the great flame job :one: was done.

Welcome I figured you guys may have been silent observers for sometime. I'm surpised you have not posted any pictures of your HHR since it has been flamed. I've been tempted to post some pic's in the ghost flame gallery, but I haven't I figured I'd let you guys post some pic's. looking forward to seeing the new mods and the two of you. I wanted to have my new embroideried headrests done, but my seamstress's FIL died and she had to go out of town suddenly. So, we're using the ones from the back seat, but they don't really fit or feel right :( But what's important is meeting new HHR friends, see you at 1PM.

Was great meeting everyone today! Shame to hear about the center being converted to a Kohls.

Glad to have met everyone --- good food, and a real eye opener -- no car alike, no two remotely decked out the same as the next? Very cool!!

Oh, we got stuck in the middle of a Scion car club caravan - about 7 of them, 6 coffins on wheels and a soda can in the middle (the small Scion) --- and us! It was hilarious! You could tell they were hard core - wow, some pretty cool mods on those brutes, actually.

Sorry I had to leave without saying goodbye to everyone -- the heat got me and my heel was "twanging". I hope we meet again soon.

It was good to meet and see everyone again. And the new mods that have been done. GREAT JOB EVERYONE

Ken actually ordered the factory seat material from GM, and Margie designed the artwork.
They had it digitized and embroidered, then disassembled the door panel to install it, and put the whole shebang back together!

Well, we just got home from a great weekend in LA!:banana: We didn't know if we were going to make it or not, because the car was not complete. We just got the wheels installed the day before and also finished the door inserts. We were so glad to see our old friends and to meet some new ones. Hope we can have another get together soon. The pictures you all have posted are really good. You got some great shots. We hope to post some soon, so that you can see the ghost flames that Andy painted on our car.:one:
