View Full Version : 2007 Mt St Helens Rendezvous
REDFLYR 10-14-2006, 08:34 AM 2007 MOUNT SAINT HELENS RENDEZVOUS
First of MANY posts...
The "THREE" at the ArlinGton BK get together talked about having a HHR/SSR (Heritage) run to Mt St Helens in MAY of 2007.
This is the intial POST for this event. Like RENDEZVOUS' of old... this will most likely be a NO HOST gathering of Chevy Heritage vehicals. As this event draws nearer it might evolve and more formal activities might take shape. We the "THREE" are really hoping to expand to "FOUR" or more. Mt St Helens is withing a few hours of Seattle and Portland... so those that want to attend will most likely make this an all day trip. Some may want to spend a night near by and meet up with the rest at a yet UNDETERMINED place... have brunch??? before heading up to the mountain. WA-HHR is going to scope out the area for places to eat and sleep and provide that info in a later posts.
If there is interest in this event??? someone might want to become the "SCRIBE" to make a mailing/contact lists to keep everyone up to date on any changess...
THE 18TH (the day that woke everyone up) IS ON A FRIDAY... SO SAT THE 19TH IS CURRENTLY THE SHEDULED DATE...
People from different cities may want to "CRUZE" to the rendezvous together... Portland people talk and figure a starting point... same for the SeaTac fokes.
an so on...
If one of you out there has an IDEA for another "HERITAGE" run... speak up... Start a NEW THREAD so we don't get to confused:lol:

To answer my own question... Joan and I were in bed. We live near a naval air station... I called into work to see a plane had crashed... then I turned on the TV. Working in quality assurance at the time I had to send in ash samples down to CA to be analize for acid content. When I told the guy in San Diego I could send him a 55 gal drum if he wanted... he went crazy... guess the glass and jewlery makers were paying good money for MSH ash. A friend of mine made me little sterling pendents cost me $5 each... my mother called me from LA... wanted to know if it would hurt my feeling if she sold hers for $50... DAH... had my friend make her another one for... yep $5:lol:
Think Joan and I still have our pendents... I'll try to bring one to the RENDEZVOUS.:thumb:
johnc 10-14-2006, 11:55 AM I was somewhere in New Jersey when it blew.
As for photos, click on the Gallery link up at the top of the page. Then click on Upload in the gray bar under the ad banner. Fill in the fields and click Submit. After you submit the photo you can then link to it from your posts.
To link to it, copy the URL from the page showing your photo (underneath your photo you will see a lot of extra info. Look for the Direct Link Code). In your message click on the icon that looks like a postcard of mountains with a stamp in the corner (Insert Image). Then paste the URL from the previous step into the popup box.
That should do it.
pjtaxi 10-20-2006, 10:51 AM Is there a easy way to post pic with this message? Not real computer savy and don,t know what url for pic is. Other e-mail is just drag and click to include pic. Thanks Pat in Yakima

Hope this works, the question was asked where were you May 18th 1980? We were clam digging on the beach at Long Beach Wa. Didn't get any that morning and I soon found out why. When we got back to motel we heard about the mountain. I don't think we could have gotten a clam with a back hoe that morning. We drove back home to Yakima in our 35 plymouth street rod. Pic, if comes out shows ash when we got home. Still driving car and just changed oil and air filter.
pjtaxi 10-20-2006, 11:14 AM Will I almost made it the pic I wanted to attach to the above message is still in the gallery, the old car with the ash. Will try to do better next time.
calgaryhhr 10-20-2006, 11:22 AM To answer your question, I wasn't around for the eruption. I didn't make an appearance until 1983. I've been to Mt. St. Helen back in the 90's with my family. It was cool.
I would love to make a trip out there again. If I'm not in Europe at that time I'll be there. Keep us posted on the event.
Thanks guys

how did your carb survive?
pjtaxi 10-23-2006, 09:01 PM The air cleaner was filling up, after about 30 miles of running in the ash the engine was running at about 40 mph at idol. The vaccuum wiper plugged after about 10 miles and had to turn off and on and get 1 wipe at a time. Lots of memories.
GhstRider 12-08-2006, 11:09 PM I talked to the ol' ball and chain... we are in. I just have to set up some vacation time from work.
REDFLYR 12-10-2006, 01:04 AM yoohoo... hope to meet you and yours there
SIHHR 12-10-2006, 02:42 AM Different type of thread. But cool stuff guys.
REDFLYR 12-19-2006, 05:16 AM REDFLYR HERE
Went down to Castle Rock for two days... will post the names and numbers for the two motels we found. there are all the road side services needed by most... burger... pizza... mexican... family diners... a large restraunt with a banquet room or large group seating. There is a movie theater that shows St Helens history films with the manditory gift shop. St Helens visitor centers close and far... there are visitor center fees.
Kinda thinking... meetup... groupup... on Sat in Castle Rock... head up to the MT around noon. come back down after a few hours... have dinner in Castle Rock.
Joan, Sunny and I will most likely arrive CR late afternoon FRI... Leave CR SUN afternoon.
for those of you that contact us personally via email from this site i'll share all the personals... cell... address. I may create a ST Helens link on my webpage.
If someone wants to cruze down with us on FRI... speak up and we will meet you somewhere along I5... Just for info we monitor channel 14-1 on our hand held walkie talkies... and drive with lights on... day and nite.
Right now there are about six individuals that have indicated they were going to try and make it. it would be so cool to see lots and lots of HHRS heading up through the hills in MAY 2007
WA_HHR 12-26-2006, 03:18 PM I'll be there, I'm just up the road a skip and a jump.....

edmedic1958 05-14-2007, 10:34 AM Well I was planning on going, but ended up having to teach a class on the 19th. Co-instructor only available on that day. bummer.
REDFLYR 05-20-2007, 06:50 PM last post for mt st helens... to all you weenies that stayed home... :p: chuck in his 06 SE and JS&me were the only shows... the drive was great except the trip from Oak Harbor to Castle Rock... 8 hrs because of traffic... the senery was awhsom... the mt was quite... i enjoyed the trip and i hope that chuck did too... you guys can plan the next event i have tried two times... i can see that nw hhr owners are all talk... bye... don t bother repling... i am hanging up...
Angel N Tinkerbell 05-20-2007, 09:00 PM Well....it ended up being good that I didn't go.
Nate came home from California (for those that don't know he volunteered to go for work for 2 months) early yesterday.
They weren't giving him the work they promised and was making LESS than he was up here....they promised a LOT more.
So...sadly...now he might be fired for leaving early. It was a very stressful day yesterday wondering what time he is coming home and if he has a job or not. I spent the day cleaning and getting things ready for his return.
I was also able to go to our homeowners association meeting that has to do with increasing our assessments $100 a year. It was good to get more information on that.....even though we might lose our home now.....sigh.

the road trip was fun, sorry redflyr, but the 2.4 and 5spd makes it hard to keep to the speed limit sometimes...:D :D by the way angel hope all goes well for you.....
Angel N Tinkerbell 05-22-2007, 11:39 AM Well, he didn't get fired, but did get suspended for 3 days...which will hurt us just as bad financially. He is FINALLLY looking for a new job.
