View Full Version : Az Dec G2G
dbarberaz 10-22-2006, 10:59 PM Since we already have plans for a meet up in Nov for the toy run, guess it is time to be working on a Dec meet up. Maybe a little tougher beause of the holidays and out of state vistors people may have. If we get an early enough start on planning something we should be able to work around the holiday madness that will soon it us all.
Thoughts Ideas?
en0oNmAI 10-23-2006, 02:12 AM There's that over-extravigant Santa villiage at Firebird raceway. Seems like a neat place to see. And another way to show our cold winter temps... Just thinking about 70+ temps in December makes me shiver... "brrRRrrr" :D
Retroburban 10-23-2006, 09:32 AM Santa's Village sounds good. I hear they have rides for the big kids!
dbarberaz 10-23-2006, 10:39 AM I am guessing that is the one they hold at Rawhide?
Edit: As I am posting this Gina sends an email she is looking into things to do.
Maybe I will just let her do this

I agree with you on the zoo lights. I like the idea of maybe going up to prescott or payson something like that.
dbarberaz 11-09-2006, 10:19 PM This thread died, Any ideas on a local run for Dec or do we skip this month and start working on a Jan run?
Retroburban 11-09-2006, 10:30 PM I'm still game for almost anything! I enjoy our montly outings, even if is just some place fun and local...like santa's village, looks like this park has rides for us big kids too!
en0oNmAI 11-10-2006, 12:31 AM Yeah I keep seeing it everytime I head that way. Looks kinda interesting
herojoe 11-10-2006, 08:26 AM I'll be visiting in Tucson from 23-27 Dec... I'm down!
en0oNmAI 11-21-2006, 03:04 PM Any word as to our g2g for Dec? I am definately free to go. Emergency or not this time. Stupid gall-bladder. Ok, so where to?
dbarberaz 11-21-2006, 06:59 PM I think we are still on, just need to be getting something set up. Been busy for everyone I am sure.
en0oNmAI 11-21-2006, 07:03 PM I still like that Santa's village thing. any idea on prices and such. Might be fun just like the Schneps farm day.
Retroburban 11-24-2006, 08:57 PM Santa's village out at Firebird sounds good... also "Pinks" is coming to Phoenix Dec 9th... might be fun. I would assume they would be at Firebird as well

Well if Santa's village is what people want lets set a date. We can get Snoopy to take his grand kids :D
Retroburban 11-26-2006, 12:30 PM I still like that Santa's village thing. any idea on prices and such. Might be fun just like the Schneps farm day.
Pricing on the website shows: Adults 18.95, Children 14.95, or a family fun pack for 4 for 79.95. This is all inclusive pricing for the rides.
dbarberaz, Any date works for me...
en0oNmAI 11-26-2006, 11:54 PM Same for me on dates.
As for pinks!.. my friend with the black Cobalt was asked by a performance shop to have his car and my HHR in their booth at Speedworld for display since they do a lot of Chevy stuff. They are putting their shop gremlin in the race. Car runs 9's with a GM motor too I think. Sounds like a fun time!

Sounds like a good time to me. Have you heard how to get tickets? I have looked at Firebirds website and speedtv and cannot find them?
en0oNmAI 11-29-2006, 09:31 PM For PINKS! ? Maybe at the gate. Just saw its not SW its at FB
As for Santa's thing... dunno. Maybe have to pay at the gate?
Retroburban 12-02-2006, 10:27 AM What about the weekend of December 16th? Would this work for everyone?
en0oNmAI 12-04-2006, 02:39 PM Sounds good to me. I get paid that Friday anyway! :D
dbarberaz 12-05-2006, 09:18 AM Sorry been out of the loop. Work and getting ready for the holidays.
I see no reason why that weekend wont work. Will it be just us three?
Anyone talked to the other Az owners?
Edit: Is the a time that you are looking at going? I would guess late afternoon or evening since it is Santa's place and that is when it would be all lit up?
en0oNmAI 12-05-2006, 11:00 AM Yeah, late afternoon/evening is good for me. Allow me to sleep in for our meets for once! :D And it'll be a little chilly outside too. Now if only I could get someone to go and cuddle with! HAHA
dbarberaz 12-05-2006, 11:24 AM And it'll be a little chilly outside too. Now if only I could get someone to go and cuddle with! HAHA
 :scared: Back off I dont care if it gets that cold there will be none of that
en0oNmAI 12-05-2006, 11:52 AM LOL. Not with YOU! Sheesh. I don't swing that way. Besides the facial hair tickles too much! I'm going to have to look around here in Tucson maybe. LOL!
Retroburban 12-05-2006, 09:18 PM Midafternoon works for us! We can order tickets in advance by going to the Firebird raceway webiste. I will order mine this weekend to get the prices quoted earlier! My car is supposed to go in the shop the week before... supposed to have it back by Thursday..some paint issues. I told the dealership if they cannot have it back to me by Friday... they can wait.. or at least get me an HHR for a rental!
dbarberaz 12-05-2006, 11:03 PM Ok is this trip going to firebird or Santa's place I am lost
Retroburban 12-06-2006, 08:12 AM Ok is this trip going to firebird or Santa's place I am lost

Is there a returaunt near FB that anyone knows of? Maybe we could do like we did for the Schnepff farm run... have lunch about 11 and then dinner and the rest of the day at the park?

I do not think there is one right there. I think the last few places are right around IKEA. We could meet there and find something. I need to talk to the wife about her plans for the AM I think the boys are going to a bday party so I need to see when that is over.
herojoe 12-10-2006, 02:56 PM if anyone wants to hook up between the 21st and 26th, I'll be down in Tucson for a few days...

Keep us posted on your plans for Tucson, I'm not sure if I can make it down from Phoenix or not... but sure will try. Maybe we can all catch lunch that Saturday.

Maybe they can join us up here on the 23rd. Sindy will be in town on here way to the east coast. :thumb:
herojoe 12-12-2006, 01:33 AM 23rd sounds good to me
dbarberaz 12-12-2006, 06:37 PM Wife and kids have a bday party at 12 and they should be back home around 3. We can meet after that or she can meet us if everyone wants to g2g before that time.
HOTAZHHR 12-12-2006, 08:10 PM Is there a returaunt near FB that anyone knows of? Maybe we could do like we did for the Schnepff farm run... have lunch about 11 and then dinner and the rest of the day at the park?
There are numerous restaurants about 1-2 miles away from Firebird, specifically at Chandler Blvd & I-10. Cracker Barrel, some fast food places, HOOTERS...etc
Retroburban 12-12-2006, 08:20 PM I hate to do this...I have been looking forward to this run...:( My Great-aunt passed away, I think I am headed to her funeral in Fresno, CA. If I go, I will be traveling back to Phx on Saturday. I would love to meet up with everyone next weekend for lunch when Sindy is in town... Sorry guys..the boys and I were really excited about this run! I was really looking forward to riding all the big kid rides and hanging out with everyone!
I may have recruited a new member from my sons daycare.. has a really nice black 2 LT with some great mods. dbarberaz or Jason, do you mind if I give him your number if they decide to join the group on Sat?

The wife and I are sorry and thinking about you. With the schedule for the wife has and everything I say we just move this to the weekend Sindy is in town. We can play all of that by ear and make a day and evening out of it.
Have the new HHR you found join the site :thumb:
Once again We are sorry to hear about your aunt.

Thank you. It is a bitter sweet thing, she is much better off. She has been getting worse, and has not been herself.
If it works better for everyone to move it... I'm ok with that. I just did not want to ask anyone to do that since the following weekend is the weekend before Christmas.
I did give the black 2LT my card with the website on it, hopefully he will be joining soon!
Thanks again... hope to see you all soon.

en0oNmAI 12-13-2006, 11:04 AM Sorry to hear about that Retro. Hope the fam is ok too! You all will be in my prayers.
As far as days go the 23rd is good for me. Just keep me updated as to times if this is a day/night thing. I will have Jubilee that week/weekend. WOOHOO!! Umm.. so anywhere is good to eat and meet.
I also don't care if you give out my number to the new members to help with the meet up and such Retro.
Retroburban 12-17-2006, 12:46 PM I'M BACK! Got in late yesterday evening. I am in desperate need of having some fun! Thank you for your well wishes and prayers...they are greatly appreciated. I have had enough family politics and fun for awhile! Are we good for next Saturday?
Jason - glad to hear Jubilee with get to join us. The boys are all excited that they will have someone new to play with!
Retroburban 12-18-2006, 09:14 PM :scared: Ok...quick FYI...some friends were out at Santa's Village this weekend talking to some of the folks who work there...they are expecting record crowds this saturday...and it is not a recommended weekend to have small children at the park.
Just something to think about... I think they are open until January 21st.... not sure if it is a good thing to risk it with the kids? What do you all think? Sindy is coming in this weekend, correct?
Just another quick thought...there is that light drive over off the 101...maybe we can catch up with Sindy for lunch/dinner, then take all the HHR's through the light drive? or just stay with our current plans?
SindyDix 12-18-2006, 10:37 PM Now theres an idea.
Looks like I'm leaving the LA area after work on friday. With traffic at 3:00pm out of LA, I dont know how far I'll get by sundown friday evening. I'll PM my cell number.
dbarberaz 12-18-2006, 10:45 PM Well I vote for meeting up with Sindy and eating and then take a drive around town or just hang out. :thumb:
en0oNmAI 12-19-2006, 01:44 AM Yeah the drive and hang sounds good. And we can do the Santa thing like New year's eve weekend or there abouts. Better than worrying about kids IMO. What time and where to meet??
Snoopy 12-19-2006, 04:49 PM Dwayne sent me a PM about this g2g. I've been watching that thread but waiting to post until more definite plans are made.
Friday is ok for me, the rest of the weekend is scheduled with family, etc.
Sindy, Just a little info for you...don't know where you're leaving from other than your statement of the LA area .....or where you are going. But, if you are on the east edge of LA, you're probably still 4 1/2 to 5 hours away (I make it in about 4 1/2 from Mentone...just s/e of you...to my house, 15 miles from the east edge of Phoenix). That is dependent on business/rush hour traffic at either end. I try to schedule around it.
If I don't see you, have a good trip and be careful of the fools and idiots out there. Keep us informed on your progress.
Thought I would add this, in case you haven't traveled I-10 east.....
Big Flying J gas station in Ehrenberg (just inside AZ state Line) has gas, food, lodging (Best Western). Of course, Blythe CA is before Ehrenberg. Then Quartzsite which has a couple of gas stations and I believe a McD and BK. After that, it is pretty lonesome until about Tonopah about 80 miles(big truck stop). After that you essentially start hitting civilization of the greater Phoenix area.
Retroburban 12-19-2006, 09:08 PM If anyone wants to, after some sight seeing or lights, we can head back to the house for a bon fire, hot chocolate, and roasted marshmellows. Just an additional thought
en0oNmAI 12-20-2006, 01:17 PM Just got word this morning that my grandparents just landed. They flew in from Kansas unannounced. AWESOME surprise. They've only seen my daughter twice so we're staying local for the hollidays. Ya'll have fun! I should be in town New Year's weekend. If ya'll want I can give ya a call and see about a meet up!! Merry Xmas and drive safe ya'll!
Retroburban 12-22-2006, 10:11 PM dbarberaz - keep us posted on plans for tomorrow... my HHR is still in the shop. Not sure I will get in back in time tomorrow. Supposed to have it back by early afternoon...
Jason - enjoy the time with your Grandparents, this time is irreplaceable!
dbarberaz 12-22-2006, 10:31 PM No news as of right now :D
dbarberaz 12-23-2006, 11:19 AM Sindy is outside of Phx. Going to meet for some food.
mikeguru 12-24-2006, 04:02 PM Hi gang. Sorry we've been away from the forums so long. So busy these days. Just wanted to wish everyone an AWESOME CHRISTMAS!
We hope there will be a G2G scheduled in Jan '07, and that we can get a chance to see you all then. (Mt. Lemmon has snow now, so maybe . . .)
Regards,
"SS" Mike
