My car has OnStar. Is there any way to connect my personal cell phone to the stereo or OnStar so that it will utilize the microphone and speakers in the car? There must be some device to do this.

Is there any way to connect my personal cell phone to the stereo or OnStar so that it will utilize the microphone and speakers in the car? But the physical connection into the system should not make a difference. SIHHR 12-24-2005, 03:21 PM If your phone has bluetooth just get a bluetooth headset. Some cell phone makers sell car kits which would allow it to be wired to the car. The aftermarket car kits are not worth it. Trust me from Experience. I will post pictures of the install that I did on my focus. SIHHR 12-24-2005, 03:46 PM This is a custom install that I have preformed in my 2000 Ford Focus. http://members.aol.com/mlapayower/install.jpg SIHHR 12-24-2005, 03:47 PM The Completed Project http://members.aol.com/mlapayower/finished.jpg SIHHR 12-24-2005, 03:53 PM First Off I used a VSM (Vehicle Specific Mount) www.pro-fit-intl.com I checked and they do not have a mount that is made for the HHR. But you contact them to find out. A normall install at Verizon Wireless would use a goosneck which would be drilled on the passanger side floor to reach the shifter area. A profit mount is a custom mount for the car which would require no drilling expect behind the radio area. Since there was room behind the radio I was able to place the speaker box. However you can connect to the car's speakers, but it could void the warranty. The Mic I placed above the visor. The Blackbox is behind the passanger floor. Instead of wireing to the battery I went to the fuse box. I was able to get constant power from the cig lighter fuse. captain howdy 12-24-2005, 06:39 PM Nope, Sprint. But the physical connection into the system should not make a difference. My theory is that seeing as how you can get a Verizon account for OnStar that they could link the account to your pre-existing account if you have one. But its just a theory based off of something I know they offer. http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c122/amarini/vaderxmas.gif SIHHR 12-24-2005, 06:59 PM Your Theory is correct. However if you had your cell phone transferd to the car then it would be your primary number. You can add a line for $9.99 a month and use while in the car captain howdy 12-24-2005, 07:16 PM Cool, so I wasn't just being an idiot! :D http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c122/amarini/vaderxmas.gif SIHHR 12-24-2005, 07:53 PM Hey no comments about my install? captain howdy 12-24-2005, 08:00 PM Sorry, nice job BTW! If you could do that stereo work should be no problem. http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c122/amarini/vaderxmas.gif SIHHR 12-24-2005, 08:25 PM I Guess I can. I never worked on Car Stereo's before. But I know the concepts SIHHR 12-27-2005, 12:14 AM I did not get onstar with mine |
