I have 20 X 7.5 wheels with a 42mm offset. I also have 225/35/20 tires. I am looking at the SpringTech or Goldline springs to lower my wifes HHR. Will I be safe from rubbing or would I have to trim the rear fender lip.

I thought you had 30 series tires......

Most likely you will need to have the rear fenders rolled and the inner fender liner trimmed to accomodate those wheels after lowering.

Pretty much anytime you go 18's or larger and lower the car - it's going to be required.

Hope it helps,

I've seen those deals on e-bay before but I always wonder what kind of quality of tires they package with the rims.

Do you mind if I ask what brand of tire came with yours? I don't mean to pry. Just curious for myself when I'm ready to upgrade in the future.

Nankang. Definitely not the best but if kept properly inflated and balanced they will last around 20,000 to 30,000 miles...

If the offset is the same, WTF does the rim width have to do with where the edge of the tire sits, which is where rubbing issues become a problem???

If the rim width changes with the same offset, the shoulder of the tire is in the exact same place, folks.

I need to post a picture here... Too many SoCal posts on this issue have confused folks on the facts.
