Hi All!

Been thinking about installing some fog-lights on my HHR. Any suggestions to as what are the better aftermarket fog-light kits for the HHR that still retain the same look as the stock ones.

Thanks in advance,
-David

I've always been a fan of PIAA. You'd have to figure out the dimensions of the stock ones and see what they make that is similar. I'm sure they have something.

They are around 5" diameter, but if your looking for the stock look you can get the factory fog lamps from your GM dealer. I just installed mine. GM is already on their second design. They aren't cheap but are easy to install. You can also get the factory fog switch. You should be able to deal on the price with your dealer.

15813308 Lamp (left?) List $78.75
15813307 Lamp (right?) List $78.75
21992589 F-Switch List $29.33

The wiring for the switch is already there but it is a monemtarty and it appears the body computer needs to be programmed to enable the fog lamp relay. Any experts out there on this??

Really CJ? I had heard from Erich at Darkside that unless you get the factory setup, there are no brackets on the frame to attach your lights to. Have you already mounted yours? Was it difficult? What did you mount to? Thanks.

If you add the factory foglamps all the wiring and such should be there, if the HHR is like other Chevy vehicles. You will have to have the BCM reprogrammed with the RPO for the foglamps for them to work.

You didn't have a choice just like me. They come standard on a 2LT.

Mine are installed, they literally snap into the bumper cover. Hardest part is taking the wheel off to open the inner fender. Erich and Darkside are right in that there is nothing but the plastic bumper cover to mount them too. So you have fab up brackets to mount after market fogs to the frame.

I seen one where the owner hole sawed the (Vent Plug?) and glued standard 4" fogs to the plug. Looks a lot better than it sounds, but still doesn't look factory and there's no adjustment.

Sound likes I need to take it in to have it reprogram.

ANYONE HAVE ACCESS TO A HHR WIRING DIAGRAM THAT COULD POST THE WIRE COLORS??

I would like one for the stereo wiring please! I was going to put my speakers in on Friday and that would take a lot of guess work and testing out of the way. Any info on the color scheme of the wires would be helpfull. Please, I'm begging you!

If I could get the wiring diagram from the fuse/relay box to the lamps would be great. Looks like there are three main connectors leaving the primary fuse box. I would assume power to the fog lamps leave the relay via one of these three connector. Wouldn't hurt to get the wiring for the switch too.

Thanks

Hey guys, thanks for the great reply's!

I didn't get the HHR with the fog-lights because the only one's they had up here had all the stuff I didn't want (LT's, rims, leather, etc.) and as it was they had to ship my car from another dealership (Calgary to Edmonton) out of town so alas... I settled for the one that had the specs I wanted minus the fog-lights.

Now that I'm informed (again, thanks!) about all the work etc. involved I won't be messing with the installation, leaving that to the professionals but still looking forward to the diagrams!

i just ordered the factory fog lights, i checked behind the wheel wells, and i have the prewiring for the fog lights, just to verify once i place everything in and wired, due i need to have the BCM flashed for them to work or will they work with out the flash?

You will most likely need to have them programmed in the BCM. Did you check both sides when you looked for the wiring. I made the mistake of only checking the passagers side and saw what I thought was the wiring for the fogs, turns out it was was a temp senser or something. Didn't realize it until I checked the drivers side and there was nothing. A quick Ohm test verified that it was not for the fogs. Not a big problem though as wiring them is wasn't too bad. Check out the "How to Section".

Thanks I will check the Drivers side tonight when I get home, I did see the "How to" that is what inspired me to do the install myself.

[FONT=Arial][COLOR=Navy] I'm not exactly what you called "mechanically gifted". Would anybody have any idea where I could get my fog lights professionally installed. Would I be able to take it to pretty much any place where they install stereos? :thumb:

I cant see why not. Streo shops should be able to. Plus welcome to the site Txsman2930

Don't you have any trim and accessory shops in your area?

My GM dealer tells me still "NO GO" on GM aftermarket fog lamps for my HHR.

Any word on if GM will actually have this as a dealer option?

I can always go to an accessory store, but would prefer the "real deal" with eprom flash et al.

Thanks

Try another dealer. Or maybe Reed (oneton) can hook you up.
