View Full Version : Upcoming Eibach Kit
jerij 12-27-2005, 01:47 PM Per another thread, Eibach is to release a new kit for the HHR possibly February. Anyone know what it consists of, and just what it is designed to do?
I'm not looking to lower my vehicle, only get some of the slush out of the suspension/springs. I haven't been underneath so I don't even know if there are sway bars or not. The ride it has is really nice, but I'd like a little better feel of the road.

Markiemark 12-27-2005, 01:53 PM From earlier discussions on springs, there is gentleman at Darkside Customs, Erich, that was really up on the springs and setup. I believe, the original Ebach, were made for Cobalts, worked on HHR's but not specifically designed for HHR's. They were going to change for HHR, but it still was going to be a lowering kit. Darkisde, did SoCal's HHR, he will have some more info, but Erich, did say to contact him on more info. Darkside's web is darksidemotoring.com, for number or email him. Hope this helps!!
snksknr94 12-27-2005, 01:54 PM Check out eibachs website. They offer 2 kits a pro-kit and the sportlines. The sportlines drop the vehicle more, and from what I've seen on other vehicles are more for looks. If you want better handling, the pro-kit is the better performer, but doesn't lower the vehicle as much. I ran the pro-kit on my Camaro and was extremely happy with it, both performance and looks.
jerij 12-27-2005, 06:52 PM I looked. It answered my questions. I'd like to see someone first who has done this. I'd like to see just how much the "lowered" looks. Guess it will be awhile.

Mine car just showed up today, gimme a couple of weeks and I'll have it lowered with the eibachs.
SoCalHHR 12-28-2005, 02:58 AM The Eibachs don't go as low as the Gold-Lines - I've seen both.
That's why we sell Gold-Line only. :thumb:

Both done with the Gold-Line kit.
72Mark 12-28-2005, 08:44 AM As someone who's driven a slammed car for several years now, I will chant the mantra an old street-rod builder once spoke unto me.
He said "By the time you get a car low enough to look cool, it is a huge pain in the ass to drive."
I didn't listen and I dropped mine with springs and spindles.
My front bumper lip was able to knock a pack of cigarettes over.
My exhuast scraped even the slightest road heaves.
I was broken into 3 times. (Your car looks cool, so therefore you have stuff worth stealing.)
I love the look, but man oh man, is it a royal pain in the ass.

Hey that's my(was) spoiler on the two-tone HHR! Not a fan of it, but looks good on T's ride! Two sweet slammned rides!
SoCalHHR 12-28-2005, 12:32 PM Yeah Fenris - it's cool to see the HHR Brotherhood sharing in building each other's rides.
Kinda reminds me of another Brotherhood...
Rock on Shredder!
jerij 12-28-2005, 01:02 PM The Gold-Line is too low for me. IIRC spring upgrades usually bring some lowering with them. I'll hold until a pic of a ~1" drop shows up.
Maybe some stiffer shocks....

My HHR's running boards (Dark SIlver Metallic above), sit 5 1/2-inches off the deck. Front air dam just scrapes the tops of parking stops if you're careful. The only time it rubs is going on & off the rack (we have a drive-on alignment rack). Actually, I'm very happy - there is never any real-world driving problems on our streets here. Life is good...
kodak_jack 12-29-2005, 07:42 AM You'd go through all that trouble to drop your HHR one inch?! You'd never notice it. Let some air out of your tires to see what 1 inch is like.

I would not go to that trouble. My thread wasn't about "lowering". It was about getting some of that slush out of the suspension (GOD, WHY DID I SELL THE TOYOTA-LET THE FLAMES BEGIN!).
If I want to lower the car by at least 1", I'll get my brother to sit in it. That's easier than airing the tires back up.
I want a firmer, more responsive suspension without the floorpan dragging the ground. If I succeed without lowering the car one bit, I will be happy.

captain howdy 12-29-2005, 12:35 PM I would say just put stiffer shocks on then and see how it feels before you touch the springs. Just like you said.
SIHHR 12-29-2005, 01:23 PM Would that be bad if you did that? Could that effect the car with Stiff shocks?
captain howdy 12-29-2005, 01:30 PM Just the ride quality. The shocks on my mustang were stiff as hell! Tokico Mach 1 struts and shocks. You could feel everything in the road. But of course the springs were stiffer and also lowered the car. They also came from the Mach 1 setup.

Good, now there's a smart idea!
