I'm looking to replace my automatic shift knob with something like a MOMO. I have a few questions:
1. Anyone know how difficult it is to remove the stock?
2. Also, is the lever that allows the selector to get out of "P" called O/D or is that something entirely different?
3. Anyone else have suggestions on other brands or types of knobs? I'm trying to keep the retro theme of the HHR so no pistol grips or straight sticks.

All feedbacks welcome...

I have to go check with my Service Advisor. By the way, the shift knob looks just like the one on my SAAB 9³ Linear, except it has leather and brush aluminum trim in the center.

Hi Guys,

We haven't had the opportunity to look at the HHR shifter yet, however we have shift knobs for virtually every application thanks to our new NTIS shift knobs. If someone could post a picture of the shifter I may have some insight on how to remone the knob and whether we have a shift knob that would work.

To read more about our NTIS knobs, check out the article on www.twmshiftknobs.com, here's the link:

http://www.twmshiftknobs.com/column/index.html

along with a diagram of how the new height adjustable knob works:

If the shifter shaft is threaded, our knobs will certainly work. If not, we can do a production run of non threaded inserts specifically for the shaft diameter. I'll see if we can get an HHR in to the shop this week to have a look, but until then it would really help if someone could post a couple pics of the stock shifter and knob.

Thanks!

Kevin

TWN Performance. Do you deal with "Automatic shift knobs"? I couldnt see any on your site, but maybe I'm looking wrong. I got a pic of an automatic shift knob since that is what we are tryin to find.

Okay, as I stated earlier the shift lever is the same as my SAAB (except for trim). Here is the instructions from a SAAB forum... http://www.saabcentral.com/users/viscouse/docs/12345678_Auto_Shiftknob_Replacement.pdf

I like my stock shifter. (The 2LT one with the leather and crome.) If I had a better Engine and more horse power then I would want a cool shifter

adamlowery: Thanks for the picture! We do deal with some automatic shift knobs such as on the Scion tC, where there is no button and they just thread off.

Unfortunately I don't think we have a knob that would work with the automatic HHR shifter since it doesn't seem to be a simple thread on knob. Does anyone know what the manual HHR shifter looks like? I have yet to see one in person, but we may have a solution for the Manual transmissions.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help for the automatics.
