OK, most of you know I won't sell something unless it really works well. At SEMA I hooked up with a company which makes an octane booster called Dyno Tabs (in a tablet form) and it looked like something worth checking out. We chatted for a while, they gave me some samples to try out, and I went on my way.

When it came time to leave Vegas, I thought I'd try them out, so the night before I went to a Shell station (my usual brand), dropped in 2 tablets and filled her up. (*The tablets take 4-hours (max) to dissolve if a car is sitting, and only 1-hour to fully dissolve if it is being driven. Also; they dissolve fully into a liquid form and there is no solid residue to worry about.) The next afternoon I got out of town and underway.

Now, as you might guess, I'm pretty particular about how my HHR runs. I only run Premium, and very often use a "certain" brand of octane booster for some extra pep. Cruising on the highway leaving Vegas I felt a "mild" increase in power but nothing huge. However, once I hit the hills it became apparent that the Dyno Tabs were working, as the car seemed to cruise right up the hills without the usual "gotta put more foot into it" thing happening. I also noticed that engine temps were cooler - even cooler than my trip in (which was at night!). Impressive.

Reading about them, I discovered Dyno Tabs actually increase the rate of fuel burn, which means the fuel charge is burning more completely, increasing pressure on the pistons and actually making more power. Additionally, it lowers the temperature at which carbon deposits will burn, making a "cleaner burn," cleaning your engine of deposits so it can make more power. The biggest benefit, is that 2 Dyno Tabs raise your octane number 17 points! Which is HUGE compared to some other boosters on the market! (*My previous octane booster was very low in comparison.)

More importantly, after arriving at home I found that I had just gotten the best mileage BY FAR than on any previous road trip (and most of you know I don't really have a feather foot!). I was sold on Dyno Tabs!

But wait - it gets better. A couple days later I started on my second tank with the Dyno Tabs. Within days I noticed the power improvement was felt even more. Now it feels that the Lead Sled has more "guts" while just cruising and my in-town mileage has gone up 3mpg. (*I usually have very poor "city" mileage with our busy stop/go driving conditions.)

Now I'm on my 3rd tank and will continue using Dyno Tabs full time. Its cheaper than my regular booster, the tablets aren't messy or smelly (like an empty container!), and I can keep a packet in the dash compartment easily for the next fillup. I called them Friday and became a dealer for the product.

If like me, you are always looking for that extra little "oomph" from your HHR - I recommend you at least give this stuff a tryout. I'm sure that after a tank or two, you will agree that Dyno Tabs work great in the HHR. (Hey, in testing they added 5hp to a Toyota Camry!)

We have a product page up now, with all kinds of info and the Dyno Tabs are now in stock here. You can read a whole report on the testing here (Adobe Acrobat required): http://www.dynotab.com/FTR%20v-7%202005.pdf (http://www.dynotab.com/FTR%20v-7%202005.pdf)

Check them out and if you're game - go for it!
