Our shipment of custom-made Chrome Stubby's have finally arrived, many thanks to all those who waited so patiently! These are the exact same antenna as our original SoCal "Stubby" - but chrome plated for maximum beauty! We went directly to the manufacturer and had these babies made just for us, so belly up to the bar and get 'em while they're hot! :thumb:

I wasn't sure about the stubby antenna before, but after seeing the chrome version I will most likely be ordering one in the near future. The only concern I have, as I have seen it posted somewhere else on here, is the possible loss of radio reception with the stubby. Has anyone noticed a difference in reception, or is that all just a conspiracy against the stubby?!?!?

also, is it easy to remove the factory antenna?

Conspiracy. It's mostly mental (as the HHR's spirally wound antenna cable pulls stations with no antenna). To make a point, I've had several customers living "in the sticks" email me to say they are actually getting better reception with the Stubby than with the original stock antenna. Still, there's bound to be a locale where it won't work as good - depends on your distance from the transmitter.

Most Stubby" owners are buying for the smashing good looks over reception quality anyway. That stock "fishing pole" has got to go!

I've had my Stubby from early on in my HHR ownership days...never had a problem with reception except when I was way up in the mountains where I didn't get cell phone reception either.

Thanks for handling my order so promptly Mike. Yes..."Smoke" is very spoiled and thanks for the compliment too. :yourock:

I havent noticed any signal or reception difference ever since I put on the stubby antenna. Overall it sounds the same but then again I have the stock stereo.

Well, you guys sold me! I just placed my order & can't wait to receive it!!!

Thanks for the encouragement in creating another 'STUBBY MANIAC'!!!

Any tips for installing it? Does the factory 'fishing pole' screw off easily?!?

Trust me you'll enjoy not hearing the antenna knocking against the roof. That noise would irritate the daylights out of me. It shouldn't take you longer than 3 minutes to remove the old one, match the double headed screw with the car and antenna and just screw it in. I think it took me longer to open the wrap than it took me to put it on

Just don't screw it in too tight-use locktite instead. I speak from experience-my plastic housing cracked, had to be replaced, then I stupidly did it again :red:
