You can see the pearl in the black matches REALLY well with the Grey. Im posting some more to show how well the body shop made it seem OEM.

greyghost 12-29-2006, 04:27 PM You can see they painted inside the gas door and painted the fenders all the way to the rivets to reallly make it seem OEM...Im sure it wont be long til GM starts doing something like this to their "special editions"

PhxHHR 12-29-2006, 05:18 PM Well, you asked for what we don't like, too, so I'll be the first a-hole to say it: It's not very visually appealling to me - sorry, but I don't like it.
However, if you like it, that's all that counts - enjoy it!
To me, it looks unfinished or like a prototype that's still being worked on. And now that you mentioned that it looks like a cop car of some sort, it reminds me of that, too, which I think adds to my dislike of it - sorry! - but you asked!

HEY..YOU...its perfectly ok for others to have differing opinions. If we all kep them the same or mod's were the same..what fun would that be? I was going to go with normal half body two tone and just decided too many people already have that look. And wanting to keep with the vintage look I chose the two tone you see. I am happy to hear someone doesnt care for it. :thumb:
PhxHHR 12-29-2006, 05:24 PM It's a sweet ride nonetheless - enjoy it! :thumb:
greyghost 12-29-2006, 05:27 PM thank you...and of course, I will end it with...YOURE WRONG!! hahaha j/k. It does look better in person...now where did I leave that darn light bar for the top??
HillsdaleHHR 12-29-2006, 05:29 PM One of my mottos is "Dare to be Different" so kudos to you on your unique ride. :thumb:
JESSE 12-29-2006, 05:36 PM I have wondered what would match with DSM, The black does go well. It is a unique two-tone and will have alot of head turning. Great job and enjoy. P.S No police stickers please!
greyghost 12-29-2006, 05:41 PM Well heres one way I could go...
http://www.chevyhhr.net/gallery/files/1/6/0/5/Carlos-Police-Car.jpg
greyghost 12-29-2006, 05:44 PM of course..this was really what I was thinking of when I made the decision...
http://www.chevyhhr.net/gallery/files/1/6/0/5/chev4601.jpg
Personally I think if the HHR is supposed to be a retro of an old 'Burb...then let its ancestory shine!
Holmes Hot Ride 12-29-2006, 08:15 PM Grey Ghost, You have a great looking two tone. They did a good job on the paint!
O6ChevyHHR 12-29-2006, 08:18 PM Whats next on the list?
greyghost 12-29-2006, 09:30 PM Whats next on the list?
NEXT???.... SS !
O6ChevyHHR 12-30-2006, 10:14 AM sounds good, I would get an SS, but 1 I dont know how to drive stick and 2 the price....
greyghost 12-30-2006, 05:05 PM well I believe they will come in an automatic. Mine won't be however...I love to drive a 4 cyl with a stick...just more fun.
HHR Forever 12-30-2006, 06:10 PM So the SS was confirmed? Man am I out of the loop. To Google!
O6ChevyHHR 12-30-2006, 06:16 PM it will?

After reading that, you'd believe it was.
O6ChevyHHR 12-30-2006, 06:20 PM where did you read it on google?
SIHHR 12-30-2006, 06:21 PM I love it. Looks great. I cant wait untill I do the same with mine once I get the funds one day.
greyghost 12-31-2006, 09:20 AM where did you read it on google?
Not on google...but rather a scientific guess.. While the Cobalt SS is only in a manual...the Solstice GXP is available in an automatic. Stands to reason that the auto may be available in the HHR SS as well. I think they can reach a larger sales force in this car with the auto being offered, since it also available in the PT LOSER GT.

HHR Forever 12-31-2006, 10:01 AM I'll let you drive the Camaro in exchange for letting me drive that!
O6ChevyHHR 12-31-2006, 10:42 AM lol when I get it! So GrayGhost what about that paint color?
greyghost 12-31-2006, 10:48 AM lol when I get it! So GrayGhost what about that paint color?
I went online ...but I couldnt find 2003 Saturns listed with PPG. Sorry. I will keep looking but I know there is a different blue than the DBM.
O6ChevyHHR 12-31-2006, 10:52 AM I found this paint code,
http://www.ppgcarpaint.com/paints-byppgcode.php?SearchPPGCode=6140
this is the one I want to use!

Not saying it's not going to happen but.......
You do understand the Solstice GXP is rear wheel drive....HHR is front wheel drive.
Solstice automatic is a completely different unit than that employed in the HHR.
But again, you did say, "MAY be available";)
O6ChevyHHR 12-31-2006, 12:09 PM I think that GM sould make the SS with Availible Automatic, it would most likely increase sales.
Snoopy 12-31-2006, 12:24 PM Increasing sales will NOT matter. It will be introduced in "limited" production....much like the Fall Edition, Spring Edition. So they will sell everyone of them.

Yes I know the Solstice is a rear wheel drive. However, it shows the possibility is still there for the application to an automatic. Power to torque ratios and all. Not saying its a definite just a possibility.
O6ChevyHHR 12-31-2006, 12:30 PM See the paint code,
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
O6ChevyHHR 12-31-2006, 12:31 PM I just emailed GM with a long email talking about the HHR SS, I will let you know what they say.

Hey, need to say....I'm not arguing the point. seems like an interesting topic to discuss. I'm just "killing time" with you, waiting for some data to crunch, in another computer. And, not many members on line.
My point is....computer hook up, emissions, cooling, etc. All much different.
O6ChevyHHR 12-31-2006, 12:36 PM Just have to wait and see what happens!

06'.......
Let me understand this.....
An extended holiday weekend and you are e-mailing someone at GM???
And you have a "source" that you can contact who will provide information???
Hmmmm, that's interesting. I'm ex GM Corporate Engineering Staff and I can't even reach people !!! Would you care to sahare your sources??
Oh, by the way, I did have a "future" HHR and a "future" Camaro, at my house last week. Both were test mules. Eat your heart out. But, obviously, can't say much about them.
greyghost 12-31-2006, 12:42 PM We have a test area here in Cumberland also. We regularly see cars all taped up being tested for NVH. And for long term testing by GM. We had a solstice here for many months before they came out. Im keeping my eyes peeled for an HHR in disguise. I'll let you know if I find one.
O6ChevyHHR 12-31-2006, 12:44 PM you did cool wish I was there!!! HHR SS mule!
O6ChevyHHR 12-31-2006, 12:45 PM Should we start a thread aboutthe HHR SS, where you can talk all about it? If so I will create it.
Snoopy 12-31-2006, 12:47 PM Hmmm, not aware of any GM engineering test tracks in MD. Oh, that might be a manufacturing track (since you mentioned the Solstice). The build plant, in Deleware, is probably near there.
O6ChevyHHR 12-31-2006, 12:48 PM I made a thread for talking about he HHR SS
Snoopy 12-31-2006, 12:48 PM Now 06'....
you're getting excited. I said I CAN"T say much. AND, I DIDNOT say it was an SS.
O6ChevyHHR 12-31-2006, 12:51 PM lets keep this thread on topic and move all SS talk to the "HHR SS Talk: thread, I know just caint wait to see one if I like it enough I will get one, and if the price is right!

No..its a company that is outsourced to do testing on GM vehicles. I used the word "track" a lil too loosely. They do all GM products here. The use the streets of Cumberland to test for NVH (noise, vibration and harshness). Basically they want to see how the cars do over bad roads..and we have plenty! We constantly see cars with wires sticking to them, or the duct tape to disguise them around here.
HHR Forever 12-31-2006, 02:50 PM I am so moving to your town.
Snoopy 12-31-2006, 03:28 PM Hey greyghost...
You wouldn't, by chance, know the name of the company?? Some time ago, one of my responsibilities was awarding sub-contracts to engineering companies.

No..I had a Solstice on order last year and went nuts when I saw them driving one. I stopped the guy (ok..I almost wrecked him to make him stop) and hes the one that told me what they do. I was so excited to see the Solstice I never thought to ask the name of the company. Sorry.
