I bought my 2LT on 8/13 and still to this day I have been having people ask me what kind of a car is it? It is a great feeling driving a new car and not seeing anyone drive the same thing. We are the lucky ones for now.

All the time. But I hate the "Is that the new PT?" questions. Grrrr!

It is apple picking time and today I stopped by an old friends farm to check on the winter apple picking. Had a good talk with him, he is 89 this year and he looked over toward my HHR and his eyes got big and all he could say was "What kind of car is that"? When I told him it was a Chevy, all he could say was ain't ever seen anything built like that by Chevy!

Ask me all about it and I told him hell the keys are in it take her for a ride, he said thank you for the offer, some other time, too busy right now.

it is a fun car to drive and to talk about.

Ain't that the truth. Folks are always stopping and saying what a great looking car it is. I totally dig that. I can only imagine what attention it will get after some killer mods like a top chop and some ghost flames. Not till later though, I'll keep it stock till I have enough money to modify it. Hey, we can at least say we have the first editions of this model. :)

I live in Staten Island, NY and I since I had it I have not seen one yet on the road. I was in South New Jeresy last night and while I was getting gas the guy who was pumping the tank kept on asking me questions about the car and he said it was the first one he pumped gas for. 2 Great Things about New Jeresy (1 the pump the gas for you, and the gas is cheaper

No one has asked me what kind of car it is, but a few days ago I was sitting at a light, and a PT Cruiser was across the way. The passenger in the PT kept giving my car odd looks and intense stares, like he couldn't figure out what the heck he was looking at. He said something to the driver of the PT, and the driver started doing the same until the light changed and I moved on, but I could see them watching me go in the mirror, still staring in confusion.

I 'll bet everyone who owns a PT Cruiser is well aware of the HHR,
They are both retro styled cars. The initial success of the PT Cruiser had Chevy on the drawing board. IF it were not for the PT, there would be no HHR.

They are both fine cars. I am not insulted if someone mistakes my car for a PT at all.

When I took mine in for the first oil change at the chevy dealer when i got the recipt back I was looking at it when i noticed the service writer put in the description PT Cruiser I couldn't believe it. I took the recipt back and had the cashier change it.

Now that is funny!

I had mine in a car show on base here a few weeks back and it got pretty old having people ask if it was a PT Cruiser. I think only one person actually recognized it as a Chevy.

It does show that the PT Cruiser has really made a name for itself as THE retro-mobile of choice around here. Hell, there are two of them within a block of each other on the street that I live on.

I have yet to have anyone walk up and ask me about the HHR.

The PT has proved itself to be reliable and comes in a lot of flavors.

The only thing I do not really like about it is the cargo area and having to remove the back seats. Otherwise its a nice car. I don't get all the animosity vs the PT Cruiser. Its the fore bearer of the HHR and has a huge following.

No animosity here. Hell, when the PT first came out I actually considered getting one. What stopped me was the lack of real cargo space. The HHR has the PT beat handily in that department.:one: I still like the styling of the PT, I just wish that folks could recognize the HHR for what it is. IMHO it is better excecuted than the PT in the wagon dept.

Oh, and Kingfrog, just to let you know, your avatar creeps me out just a bit:barf:

I get the questions all the time. I think it was pretty cool, when I stopped for gas and a guy in a SSR pulled next to me. People were talking to both of us about our cars. People here also make the PT/HHR mistake as well. I do get PT owners telling me the next car they get will be an HHR.

Yah, first night I was taking it home from dealer.
Went through a Tim Hortons to get a coffee and the young girl said,
Q "Oooh, what's that a PT Cruiser with no windows?"
A: No, it's an HHR
Q:What?
A: HHR Panel
Q:PT?
A: NO! Chevy!
Q:Is there seats in the back?
A: No, just a bed
Q::red: Cool, that's a cool car.
A:thanks:p:

Several drive through's later same scene.

Chevy hit the market with the panel.
There are no Astro vans or Aerostars anymore for work, just full size vans.
Maybe Ford should build a rear whl drive panel based on a 49 Willy's or something?
On an Aerostar platform.
I know it's dead but it'd be cool to have rear whl drive and a 3 or 4 L V-6.

Any Ford reps reading? Hello!

well in So Cal at least they are starting to become more and more common. I see them a LOT now. On my way home from work last night I counted five. FIVE! and I only have a ten-minute commute.
