Because i value all of your opinions i usually come here for feedback on ideas, with that being said what do you guys think about mismatching wheel sizes i.e. 17's in front 18's in rear. i ask because i am planning on buying some in the near future, and ive seen a various cars with this type of setup. I dont know if you gain anything buy having different sizes but it did look good on some of them. I'd like to lower the car also and have a somewhat of a deep dish style wheel on it. what do you guys think and how do you think it'll look? Also what kind of problems would this setup create if any? Like always, thanks for the feedback in advance.

Keep in mind that the speedometer / odometer are off the front, so to keep accuracy you want to keep the tire diameter the same as stock, which is 25.5". The back won't matter.

Offset needs to be very close to stock, which (I think) is about 40 mm, or you will run into clearance problems.

Due to the offset issue "deep dish" would typically put the tire out too far. Some wheels curve inward to give the illusion of dish, the American Racing Casino, for example.

Good luck with your search! Unfortunately, right now wheel choices for the HHR are very limited.

I dont see any problems as long as you keep the outer diameter of the tires the same and your not going to gain anything, it's entirely cosmetic. I don't know if it would look that good on a HHR though. Most of the cars you see the larger rim in the back have huge tires and wheel wells unlike the HHR. IMO stay with the same size rims in the front and back.

Different sizes can give the "Raked" sloped, Street Rod, Drag Car LOOK. It is an option, the posted 1947 Street Rod on the Sandstone Graphic Option is an example, where larger wheels used in back vs. front. Going with a deeper dish wheel, would require shorting re-end, to get them to sit under vehicle, very expensive and tricky to do correctly. You are limited in wheel-style, dish, with a stock HHR, stay away from wheels sticking out, (skateboard look, fast-n-furious)

Lowering and correct (opinions) wheel selection on a HHR will definitely, give a good look, and I don't see a problem with different size front & rear (other than can't rotate normally, maybe sortening tire life). There is lots of opinions on lowering, you do lose some suspension performance, but I like the look, and will tone down the off-roading or crazy driving!! I am consantly watching others setup too find, how I might change mine, that suits me!!!

Well these are the wheels im planning on going with for now or until i see somthing better. most likely in an 18". Now would it be bettter for me to lower the car then get the wheels mounted or vice versa?

Cool Wheels!!! Contact SoCal, he can help with lowering and wheel sizes. His company is linked here, a supporting vendor. I know I saw somewhere a lowered HHR with 18" wheels, through this site or another.

It was recommended to me that you get your tire and wheels first, then decide if you want it lowered...but I am definitely not an authority on the issue....

Since they are black diamond cut, 18.5" + tires they might go nice with my Black 2LT. I cannot give any more details on price and some other items that were added to sweeten the pot until I have decided to purchase or not. Input would be greatly appreciated!

They are ok. I'm getting tired of seeing star rims though. Everyone and their mother has star rims. Chevy even give them to us from the factory. When I change my rims it is not going to be to stars.

I don't have a problem with the star pattern, the price is real good, I am not sure cuz lady fenrir is barking at me, "I don't care what ones you buy, just only buy one set and not buying and selling buying and selling..." I want to hold out for more options. The Zinik Adrians are cool, plus the whole "Gotcha Series" from Boyds lol I appreciate the comments, maybe I can get a few more. I kinda like the black segments in contrast with rim...I gave myself a deadline of tomorrow.....

The "right" rims will jump out and grab me when I see them.

Either way - it's up to you. However, if you lower first, you will know the exact amount of room you have when trying on your new wheels/tires.
