View Full Version : Anyone know where I can find a replacement dash bezel?
snova031 01-22-2006, 11:37 PM Looking to mold a screen into the dash, but don't want to destroy the factory bezel- I want to be able to switch the bezel back to stock if need be. Anyone know where I can pick up a new bezel (besides the dealership)?
I remember there were a few online sites that had factory part listings...can't find links though :(
Thanks!
HHR Nut 01-23-2006, 08:45 AM I'm looking for the same thing, not only so I can go back to the stock if I have to, but because I'd like to start-- and possibly complete--some of my planned customizations before my HHR comes in.
I don't even care what color the replacement is since I will have to paint it.
I'm sure the dealer could get it, but I haven't gotten that motivated yet.
A dealer would be the only likely choice right now.
If you have a little patience, it won't be long until some HHRs turn up wrecked in junk yards, where items like this would be a better buy.
SIHHR 01-23-2006, 01:29 PM Sorry I'm a bit confused about exactly what part your planning to mod? Can you please expain a bit more detail?
HHR Nut 01-23-2006, 03:38 PM I'm talking about the plastic piece in the center console area that surrounds the AC vents, radio, and goes down to the cigarette lighter/accessory plug etc.

If you want to install a standard 2-DIN "screen" such as a GPS or video unit, there is no need to alter the stock bezel at all. It simply pulls off (gently pry with a screwdriver on both sides near the top seam). Once you remove the stock radio, any 2-DIN unit can be installed in its place.
Hope it helps,
HHR Nut 01-23-2006, 04:17 PM Unfortunately, my mod isn't quite as simple as that. I wish.
captain howdy 01-23-2006, 04:18 PM Do you want to put a monitor in where the vents are or something?
HHR Nut 01-23-2006, 04:28 PM I just want to add something small and have to move a couple buttons around. I have absolutely no intention of re-routing the AC vents etc. Minor stuff, but will require a bit of fabrication and re-finishing. No point in describing what I'm going to do until it's done. I'll post pics, but it's going to be a looong time (I ordered 1/16 and the order hasn't yet been picked up).
snova's the one that mentioned adding a screen (sorry, didn't mean to hijack your thread). I just jumped in because it'd be nice to get most of the work done before I get my HHR... and it'd also be nice to not have to drive around with plastic parts missing.
SoCalHHR 01-23-2006, 05:07 PM The dealership is the ONLY place you will locate one this early in the aftermarket game. I would call them right away - as it could take weeks for them to get the actual part in.
Best of luck, :thumb:

Installing a VGA touchscreen for a carputer...their screens are a little larger then the standard 2 din units :(
HHR Nut 01-24-2006, 10:13 PM The part is $97. My dealer says 3-4 days to get it.
Blinded by the Light! 01-24-2006, 10:47 PM Go to www.car-parts.com and search for your part. This is a Junkyard search. I did a quick search and came up with 5 places with HHR's. GOOD LUCK!
HHR Nut 03-01-2006, 02:58 AM I ordered the part from 1stchevyparts.com for $73.84 shipped.
$55.49 for the part.
$11.10 for shipping (shipping is a flat 20% of your order)
$7.25 for handling.
Shipping and handling were outrageous, but the total was still still quite a bit lower than the dealer-- and no sales tax.
Ordered 2-24, received 2-28.
Interestingly, this part consists of the bezel plus both vents and the actual hazard button. No wonder it costs so much.
Hope this helps someone out.

HHR Nut 03-01-2006, 10:06 AM I found the part on several web sites (15+ - after so many and not finding anywhere close to a better deal, I stopped searching)-- that was by far the best deal I found. Most wanted in the neighborhood of seventy-some dollars for the part, plus a minimum of 15% shipping-- and most had a flat handling fee as well.
I hadn't found partszoneonline.com, the part is $63.81 - not a bad price, but the shipping rates are not available with a note to "contact them if you need to know how much shipping is before you place the order." If it's less than $10.03, this is a better deal.
At gmpartsdirect.com, they don't seem to have anything after 2004. I don't have the part number handy, but when I did, if I remember correctly, when I searched their catalog, the part number couldn't be found.
newchevroletparts.com wants $73.01 before any shipping is figured in. They note that shipping is a minimum $10.00, so it's at least $83.01 there.
gmpartscenter.net is also not bad -- $67.14, but they also have a note that says "if you would like to know your shipping cost before placing an order please e-mail." If shipping is less than $6.70, this is a better deal.
Depending on the time of day and my mood when I placed the order, I may or may not have called to find out shipping rates, but I almost certainly would not have sat around and waited for them to respond with a shipping quote via email.
I was simply sharing the best price I'd found. :)
