View Full Version : April AZ G2G
Retroburban 03-05-2007, 11:18 AM Hey All!
What's up for April. We have all had a bad run of luck since November.... it's time for a big g2g! I see from recent postings that Jesse will be here during the first week of the month. Where should we go?
en0oNmAI 03-05-2007, 12:43 PM umm.. well tombstone has seemed to be a flunky. So where in AZ should we go? I think there is something to be had for doing another run up to Williams again for camping and such. So what's going on for April?? Maybe Sedona???
PhxHHR 03-05-2007, 02:51 PM So what's going on for April??
As usual - lots of cold Corona's in the back yard. I've been darn busy at work, so I don't plan on heading out anywhere 'till the Summer.
Wherever y'all go, have fun!
en0oNmAI 03-05-2007, 03:22 PM Ya know... if anyone is up to hosting a g2g at someone's house wouldn't be too bad either... bonfires, s'mores, and ghost stories...(kidding) but you get the idea. Too bad my place in Tucson is so small and far away! HAHA!
Oh BTW I moved from the NW side of Tucson to the far EAST side. For those that went on the Mt Lemmon trip, I am about 10 Minutes from the base of the mountain now.

I can always swing something at the house if you all are interested. I'm way north Phoenix, just south of Anthem. Have a fire pit ready to go! We can grill and hang out.
dbarberaz 03-08-2007, 09:35 PM Keep us posted, as of now we are open other than weekend of 3/16 as we are going to Vegas.
Then we are also going to Washington DC the week of the 18th in June.
Other than those date we are open to any dates.
en0oNmAI 03-08-2007, 10:27 PM That sounds kinda fun Retro! Pit fire, grub and good company! Yeah! It gets my vote!
Retroburban 03-09-2007, 08:28 AM I can do either the weekend of 03/31, or any weekend in April. Let me know what works best for everyone and we can go from there!
en0oNmAI 03-09-2007, 08:26 PM Well Jesse said something about being here the first week of April I thought. So what about April 7th?? Its a saturday and pretty far away still.
JESSE 03-11-2007, 06:19 PM Saturday the 7th is a good day for me! Keep me posted!:thumb:
Retroburban 03-15-2007, 09:44 PM Jesse will be staying in the east valley. Do you all want to meet in the ev and have lunch and then cruise this way to hang out and have dinner? Probably going to grill some tri-tip steak... unless someone has a different idea?
dbarberaz: you are east valley... any ideas as to a good place to meet up?
Snoopy 03-15-2007, 09:49 PM So, we're looking at April 7th for sure ???
retro...your sure you want to have a mob to your house? If so, what can I assist with (bring, offer, etc.).
Oh, I think I'll have Sindy send Stubby over. Then he and I can attend the Arizona g2g and the Quad-Cities.
Sound Good ?????
Retroburban 03-15-2007, 10:02 PM Sounds great.
I was thinking everyone could bring a side dish... salad or something. I'll get the pop and the meat.. and the smores. If someone needs chicken instead of beef.. let me know.
No issues with mob... I have a wild cowboy for a baby brother.. this property has seen many parties!!! We have 2 acres to have fun on! The fire deparment and MCSO... know where we live! I do need everyone to bring their lawn chairs...
Snoopy 03-15-2007, 10:11 PM O'k..as it stands right now, count me in.
Now, I live just about 2 miles north of Dwayne. I'll try to figure something to do and get with him also. We're up for suggestions....from the rest.....who is the rest???????
en0oNmAI 03-15-2007, 11:09 PM I think Niki, me and the kids are still in for this. Will know more when the time gets closer. Are you sure we can bring a tent and camp out if it gets too late??
Retroburban 03-15-2007, 11:25 PM I think Niki, me and the kids are still in for this. Will know more when the time gets closer. Are you sure we can bring a tent and camp out if it gets too late??
Absolutely. The boys and I will probably pitch our tent just for fun! They love to camp out!
dbarberaz 03-16-2007, 01:23 AM Well as of right now everything sounds good. I am in the middle of packing for vegas right now, just put gas in the HHR and need to go finish. When we get back after the weekend I will get in touch with Snoopy and pick a place or something.
Retroburban 03-21-2007, 02:20 PM Just a quick FYI.. if anyone is interested in getting your windows tinted at this event... let me know. The guy who did mine is really great and he said he would come to us if there is any interest.
JESSE 03-23-2007, 08:11 PM Looking foward to meeting all of you in two weeks. I will call when I arrive to make arrangements on where to meet that Saturday.
Jesse

What will he charge to do the 5 back windows? I need them just a little darker than what they are, no limo tint. They are the stock tint and need to hid the speaker in back a little better.

He is offering $125 for the back 5 or $165 for the whole car. He did my back are limo now... he did a great job! Let me know.
Snoopy 03-25-2007, 12:27 AM Retro....
You had the rear hatch window extra tinted as well ?????
When I was getting mine done and was making a judgement on that window, I used samples to determine the grade of tint. I thought any extra over the stock was to dark at night. So I left the rear hatch stock....the rear four and the front 2 are, I think, 15%. Which make sit dark enough inside that someone can't look into the car for "stealables".

Yep, they are all done. I don't think it's all that dark, but I have had all my trucks done the same way in the past so I guess I'm just used to it!

If he does a good job and uses the good tint and backs is work I am willing to let him do my back 5 windows. Ask him if he can bring some diffrent shades cause all I know is I dont want limo, just darker that the factory. :thumb:

You got it.. will call him this week and let him know. Also... if anyone wants, I may even be able to get the Nitrogen tire guy to come out to the house... need to know if anyone is interested.

Anyone else? The more, the merrier!
Retroburban 03-31-2007, 07:56 PM dbarberaz/snoopy..
Any idea as to where we should meet next saturday?
Also. just a thought, in Black Canyon City.. just about 15 minutes north of me.. they are doing "Hogs In Heat", It is an all day all you can eat pork bar b que. I have been told it is $12/person and there are live bands all day long and play area for the kids.
I'm still up to grilling at the house..and we can still do a bon fire and s'mores afterward! But I thought I would throw this out and see what everyone thought. I'm game for anything as usual.

Nobody has said...I think we are at 6 HHR's and approximately 15 - 20 people? But that is just my guess
Jesse is staying close to ASU.

Welcome to the valley! You are only about 30 minutes from me.. so unless there are more sights you want to see... I can pm everyone the address and directions. I am only 45 minute from Montezuma's well and Castle... would be an easy run to check out another sight and then drop back to the house for dinner and fun?
Snoopy 04-02-2007, 06:39 PM OK... jesse indicates he is in town, close to where Retroburban lives. Looking for headcount and a to-do list.
First, originally we were talking lunch with jesse then maybe a BBQ at retro's. Dwayne and I live in the East Valley, about 40-45 miles from jesse and retro. I suggested meeting for lunch, or whatever, on that side of town. That would PROBABLY prevent jesse from getting lost coming to this side of the valley.
Next, retro is suggesting a few alternative things and I'll let her post to that....just to keep it clear.
Last, how about a head count and/or suggestions for either lunch or dinner/BBQ, or both (lunch then fast run, then maybe BBQ)?
Wife just reminded me....the next day is Easter...and we have family responsibilities. So, if the dinner BBQ is selected, we won't be able to stay to late.

Agreed- A small run, and maybe a late lunch? It all sounds good to me!
Retroburban 04-02-2007, 07:08 PM As usual.. I am up for anything. Since we are looking for time frames..and items to delegate... here is what I can offer:
Let's meet up at my place at 12:00ish (will explain why in a moment)
We can leave out of my place about 12:30ish and head for Montazuma's Castle or Well or both. Spend a couple of hours seeing the sights and head back to my place.
I can fire off the grill have Tri-tip ready in about 45minutes. I will supply Pop, Meat, and stuff for S'mores.
I would need everyone to bring a side (meet at my place first so we can refrigerate if needed) and lawnchairs if you have 'em.
We can have an early dinner/late lunch about 5:00ish time frame. Those who want to stay are welcome to and we can fire off the fire pit and roast marshmellows.
what ya think?

Snoopy 04-09-2007, 05:31 PM Just a little more recap on the meet in AZ with jesse.....
After leading dbaberAZ through cow trails, over mountains and through "washes", we finally arrived at Retros house. :red: Jesse had already arrived and greeted us as we pulled into the drive.
Had a great time talking with jesse and his friend Sal......a lot of mutual interests. Unfortunately, has family had contracted a suspected flu bug and could not make the meet with him. Also, because he was leaving for home early the next day, he had to depart after a few very quick hours. Which we all regreted.
Mandy's Dad, the Chef Extraordinare, prepared enough exquisite beef tri-tips to feed a Marine platoon, after Mandy carefully seasoned them with a special rub. I'm generally not a second helping guy, but I did go back for more .....unbelieveable.
Everyone sat around for a period of time and just talked until after dark. Then dbarberaz and I headed for the long run home.
I must say Mandy's family is one of the must enjoyable and extraordinary groups of people I have ever met. They welcome you into their home an make you "family" comfortable.
Thanks again, to Mandy/Jason, Mom and Dad, brothers and sister-in-law, horses, dogs, fish.:thumb: Hope I didn't miss anybody:eek: .
jesse, keep us informed on your residency status....
