SoCalHHR's Smooothie Lock Knob Installation Instructions

1. Remove old lock know using pliers (wrap jaws with tape to prevent damage).
2. Measure & cut lock rod so it is 5/16 above door sill when unlocked.
3. Shoot a glob of silicone seal into new lock knob.
4. Gently slide lock knob onto lock rod - do not push down!
5. With doors open and keys in your pocket - lock door.
6. Slowly push lock knob down until it is flush with door sill.
7. Repeat process for other door.
8. Leave to set overnight.

Now, enjoy hanging your arm out the window without pain!

karen1953
03-22-2007, 01:56 PM
Best if you take masking tape 1" measure 5/16" in a number of places, drawn a line.
Do not cut the tape, but hold behind the rod, to measure where the molding is, then tear a piece of tape off after you have wrapped around the rod, do this same for all locks that you are going to cut.
Now you have a line and do not have to measure any more, then cut.

Then really enjoy no bruises

This works well.:thumb:

I'd also suggest before ya cut the rods, set the new knobs on the post. I did and found that the difference was large enough from the stocj that I didn't need to cut the rods. But this is personal preference and everyone is gonna like it their own way!

Another thought, I like the idea of them not being fluch, just in case you have to use the know to unlock the door. This way you have something to grab!;)

Mike,
Just wanted you to know my recent order from you arrived in a very timely manner. I got the Stubby Antenna, door locks, and the HHR decal for the brake light. I forgot they were coming, was in the hospital for surgery and ....OMG..."HE'' found them:( I guess I forgot to tell him they were ordered.... I think allot of the time he just ignores me, or he has selective hearing. Now if I can just "Whine" :censored: loud enough ...He may put them on. He should..I am not allowed to drive again until May 14...One of you all could stop by and put them on...LOL

OK, I'm not the most mechanically enclined person, so please help me with this. What exactly are you cutting the rod with? I think someone on here said "side cutters", but I have no clue what those are. Anything remotely close to a pair of dikes? Also, what type of silicone are you using? Just a regular tube of silicone that you would put in a caulk gun? I'm sure many of you are laughing at me by now, but I really don't want to mess this up.

I just ordered stubby door locks also. Jayhawker, I plan on using my dremel tool to cut mine. If you don't have one, then any type of wire cutters should do the trick. As far as the silicone, I would guess any would work as long as it is adhesive. Someone with more experince may have to correct me on that one. You don't have to use a silicone gun either. You can buy a smaller tube and squeeze it out that way, like toothpaste. Good luck! And don't tell my buddies I helped out a chickenhawk fan  I'd never hear the end of that one.:D

Oh and jayhawker, tough loss tonight. Hawks didn't look like themselves with all the missed shots inside.

Part I: Side cutter pliers are often referred to as "dykes" - so you're on the right track. In fact, I used dykes to cut mine when the very first set of Smoothies was installed. :thumb: If you prefer to use a Dremel tool, be SURE to place a large towel across the door to prevent hot shards from ruining your HHR's paint! (That's why I opted for the dykes!)

Part II: I recommend a small (4oz.) tube of silicone sealant available from most automotive repair stores. Look for a tube with a small "funnel type" tip. Cut the smallest portion off the tip and squeeze some silicone into the door lock knobs with it. Works a treat!~

Enjoy!

That does not sound like Mike!
He might have another company that does the shipping for him.
Computers go down at times, You might just want to pm and/or email him from this web ste.
The Police have better things to do, infact they will mostlikey tell you that you would need to contact, the internet Fraud Company.
Ebay tells you who to contact, and how.
I would first look at your recp from PayPal just to make sure all of the information is correct. And if it is, call them.
Again this does not sound like Mike, and I have been getting things from him for almost 1 yr. Including 3 items from eBay. No problems.

WHAT! I have sent you 3 separate reply emails regarding this situation. Here's a copy of two:

Hi Don,

Please understand it takes us a while to track down an order when all we have is an email address.

This is why we asked you for your full name and ship info, and why you received a second email explaining that we located your order.

Your order has indeed shipped and should be arriving shortly. (It does take a while to reach West Virginia from California.)

Please verify ship arrival time according to the email we sent you earlier:

__________________________________________________ _________________________________

Found it Don,

Your order was placed on Friday, March 27th, and packaged and shipped on Saturday March 28th.

Carrier is USPS (Post Office) and method is First Class Mail.

Most likely the package sat at the post office until Monday morning, and is making its way to you right now.

Since you reside in West Virginia, normal ship time should be 4-6 working days (weekdays).

I would expect it to arrive by this Friday at the latest.

Thanks in advance for your patience on this,
__________________________________________________ ____________

Why you haven't received a direct reply to your emails I have no idea. (all I do is hit "reply".)

I see that you have now "reported" me to PayPal.

Your item was shipped out - but it was ordered on a Friday, shipped on a Saturday, and sat at the post office all weekend before leaving on Monday!

Some people have no patience...

If you have not received it by the 11th (8 actual working days from shipment), I will refund your money.

All this I go through for a fricken antenna...

Mike how are the CGS and Outlaw filters cleaned and /or reoiled?

Charles: Use any K&N Filtercharger kit, available at your local auto parts store. The CGS & Outlaw filters are good for 5-7000mi between cleanings. Users in dusty areas may need to clean/reoil more frequently.

What Click? We know that SoCal is an honest Vendor, and that things do happen.
Time is the only thing that really matters. How many times have you bought anything from eBay?
I have waited over 2 weeks before things have been shipped.
Mike has provided just about the same GREAT to ALL That have bought from him.
