Hello, all,

New here, we've had our HHR since November and love it. I have what may be a silly question, but where in the world do you tie down the back hatch if you are hauling something that hangs out the back? I went to pull down the hatch with rope and couldn't find anywhere to thread the rope through. Is there seriously not a tie down on the door itself?

Thanks for the help,

SparklyJ

First welcome to the site.

Yes there is a way to tie down the hatch. I will need to go out and see if I can remember how I did it.

Edit:
Ok if you open the hatch, there are 9 little desgins on the plastic. They are kinda long ovals. If you count the 4th one over from the drivers side you can take it off. You have to run your rope down to the latch and squeeze it between the latch and plastic. Tight fit bit you should be able to work it down.
Hope that helps

That is the access opening for the emergency hatch release.

It is a safety issue to travel with the hatch open on a vehicle that the exhaust exit's the rear (fumes). That's one reason there is no place to tie it open.

The place that dbarberza mentioned is the only thing I can think of. I wouldn't think you would have an issue with the exhaust fumes if you're only traveling a short distance...but that's just my opinion.

Thats what I used. I only drove about 1 mile, so I did not notice any fumes.

Plus the safety was never question only is there a way to do so
