Black Rose 04-13-2007, 03:51 PM It's an easy install (if I can do it, anyone can  ) and makes a nice improvement in the handling.
Applenut 04-13-2007, 09:16 PM It's the only mod my wife really noticed!!

bigallis1 04-21-2007, 09:00 AM Mike, did you get your progress anti-sway bar yet? Please let us know how the shipping process worked out for you?
They are by far the cheapest source for the Progressive anti-away bar that I have seen.

The package came on the other day. It was very fast. I think they put the price up 2 bucks. That is still cheap . Th shipping was not bad . The box was big . I thought it was a good deal. I'm going to install it on monday.
good luck

thedonn007 05-14-2007, 11:31 AM How well does the progress tech anti-sway bar improve the on-center feel of the HHR?
Alzonie 05-14-2007, 04:04 PM  My Wife never said a word, good or bad, after I put the sway bar on her HHR several weeks ago. All of her driving is around town so I don't know if any change in handling would be that apparent. I'm thinking it's true value might be in an emergency situation where some quick manuvering might be necessary to avoid something. :2cents:

I also added GROUND FORCE 1in drop springs. I think it is a good combo.
The HHR stays nice (less body roll) on tight ramps & curves.

Goose 05-30-2007, 01:17 PM Does this change the ride quality of the HHR? (LT1 on 16"'s)
Also was wondering if I would be able to drive the front wheels up on ramps and install that way? I could get under the car fairly easy that way....I'm not that keen on trying to back up on ramps!
Interested in ride quality difference from those that already have the softer suspension in the LS and LT1
Goose
Black Rose 05-30-2007, 02:43 PM I find the ride quality is better now. Hard to explain but it feels tighter, yet it feels smoother to me as if it now has a longer wheelbase.
I backed mine up on the Rhino Ramps myself and installed the Progress sway bar myself. Impressed the wife with that one, since I didn't wreck anything :D
Hint: Adjust your outside rearview mirror(s) so that it faces down so you can see the ramp in the mirror.
thedonn007 06-01-2007, 02:20 PM I think that it is possible to install the rear sway bar on the ground. In fact I think that it is recommended so that you do not put some torque in the suspension
Black Rose 06-01-2007, 03:08 PM When it is up on ramps, there is no extra load on the rear suspension. It's simply raised to get better access to the undercarriage.
Hotrodbob 08-20-2007, 11:59 PM I ordered mine from Summit Racing two weeks ago. They say it's on Back order until August 31. It was $126 with shipping

 Does anyone have them in stock?? I tried ordering from AutosportStyle.com and they wound up refunding my money because they couldn't get a set date for them to arrive.

They have them listed for $137, doesn't say if they have any in stock though.

Goose 08-23-2007, 09:24 PM I got mine from Never Enough.. Great guy...I remember him from the Matrix Owners forum I used to belong to. You can order it online but you have to call him (or leave a message and he will call you) to give your CC info.
No problems at all and I highly recommend

I called to find out the status of the sway bar and was told by the phone rep that they were currently out of stock, and still questionable as to when shipment would arrive.:( Recieved an immediate call back from Brad, as was told that they should be arriving in about a week or so. Placed my order and fingers are crossed!

Yep! That's him! He has been around for quite some time and he was especially active in Matrixowners.com
I never knew he was the same person over there until I made a purchase of the sway bar from him.
If he said a week, you should probably get it in that time frame. That was the same case for me. :thumb:

Detailed Description
Improve the handling of your Cobalt with this Progress 22mm rear sway bar kit. This same kit also fits the Chevrolet HHR, Saturn Ion (05-07) and Saturn Ion Redline (04-07.)
A larger rear sway bar on a front wheel drive car helps the car to rotate faster in a corner...making it handle better. Front wheel drive cars have lots of understeer, this rear sway bar helps to balance the handling so it is more neutral in the corners. If you want to go faster in the turns, this will help! A great addition to lowering springs!

It is REALLY easy to install. Just get the rearend in the air enough to (safely) get underneath. There is a great how to here somewhere. It is only 4 bolts and nuts in pre-existing holes (so no drilling). Torque to the right tightness and your done. Not everyone may have a torque wrench. I know I did not but I picked up a "middle of the road one" (not the really cheap ones but not a really expensive one either) as I figured it would be handy to have anyway.
galladanb 09-06-2007, 11:32 AM I agree about how easy it is to install.
We did one as a door prize last year at the
2006 Biltmore Bash, and even installed it in the
Biltmore Winery's parking lot.
Here some pics of the install:
http://www.midtnhhr.net/bash06pics/prizeinstall/index.html
You really should use some ramps if possible or at
least have a couple of real skinny friends to go
under there!!! HAHA!!!!
And Sandy and I put one on her HHR before the Bash. It makes a
very noticable and stableized ride.
A definite must add-on, IMO!!!

Yes it is easy to install, but Jay is In The Land of The Lowered!
Not much room to get under there.

With it being lowered, I don't think he could even use Rhino Ramps to lift it up.
Mine is not lowered and I just have enough clearance to get the HHR on the ramps.

Jack her up and put her on axle stands if need be.
Goose 09-06-2007, 12:05 PM I backed mine up on the Rhino ramps...that was a little hairy....also this install is a LOT easier with 2 people...someone to balance the other end while you are lining up the holes...took me a lot longer than it should have because I did it myself

I used the plastic case for my socket set to hold one side up while I attached the other side. It worked but still took longer than it should have.
Wife was at work when I installed it, so I had to do it myself.
karen1953 09-06-2007, 12:16 PM I cheated, went to a mod party, up on a lift NEMO went, boom it was on.
hvrod 09-06-2007, 01:01 PM pretty easy to install..
I understand how easy it is to install, but lack the tools to do so properly.
My mechanic should be of the hospital tomorrow the latest (just got back from seeing him), and should have it on the day it arrives or the next at the latest. Arriving just in time too........can do an oil change and install the K&N filter in the turtle at the same time!

karen1953 09-06-2007, 02:13 PM I change mine at 5000 miles, I forget about the DIC it is always around 50%.
Wonder if it is really working? I always make sure it is at 100% when I leave the Dealer. Must be working.
Alzonie 09-06-2007, 05:47 PM  I put the sway bar on by driving the rear wheels up on two patio blocks. Gave me a couple more inches of elbow room. I used a couple of empty coffee cans to hold the front of the bar up while I put the bolts in.:thumb: Took about an hour all told. But then, I can't get up and down like I could in my younger days.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK! Karen why say this now. You know the disagreements we've had here on this subject.
jescobe82 09-21-2007, 12:01 PM This is just an add-on from the first couple of pages of this thread.....neverenoughauto.com has the rear sway bars in stock. I ordered mine yesterday (9/20) and today it's already almost here. I am supposed to receive it on Monday. I ordered at 1300 yesterday and it was shipped last night!! Shipping is way quick via UPS and the price as listed was $137.00. I guess it's free shipping or shipping included in price cause it was listed at $137 and final price at checkout was the same. I'm looking forward to getting and installing it. I'll keep you posted and maybe have some pics.
Hotrodbob 09-21-2007, 01:33 PM Installed mine this morning. Easy install. Tie rapped it up and it was easy.
I can feel a bit of oversteer like I wanted. Have not tried to push it hard yet. Monday when I go to work there is a left turn that I have fun with and I'll give it a try.
Lone_Star 09-21-2007, 04:29 PM I see they also have a good price on the Progress lowering springs. Anyone have experience with these, any feedback on ride or quality?
jescobe82 09-24-2007, 04:19 PM Just received and installed my rear 22mm Progress Tech anti-sway bar. It installed in less than 10 minutes. I have only driven around the neighborhood with it but am going out this evening to a nice twisty road nearby. So far, I can't really tell anything as all driving was under 25mph. I am posting now to tell you that neverenoughauto.com is a great company to deal with. I ordered this last Thursday afternoon, and it came in at about 1300 today. Super fast shipment and competitive pricing. I would definitely consider them for future purchases. Cheers all!!

laborkei 09-26-2007, 01:11 PM Just got back from a friends shop at lunch, and we installed my Sway bar. Check out picks in Gallery. It took longer to put the HHR on the rack then to install them. I purchased them from http://www.neverenoughauto.com for $137 shipped to my door.
Keith
Goose 09-26-2007, 09:07 PM It's been said before but that is a great place to get the sway bar and a great guy to deal with as well
Goose
jescobe82 09-27-2007, 05:21 PM I must say, I really didn't think this bar would make that much of a difference. I can feel some slight oversteer on long curves, which I like, and the most noticeable difference is on the interstate behind an 18 wheeler. HHR's seem to sway really bad. Worse than any other vehicle I can think of and I'm sure most of you would agree. After sway bar installation, the sway is almost completely gone and I feel really glued to the pavement. To me, that was worth the price all by itself. So for my two cents, this is a very worthwhile investment. Hats off to Progress Tech :thumb: :one:  :D
