Howdy all! I'm trying to remove the plastic cover to get to the 3rd brake light so I can install my HHR Decal. I'm afraid of breaking the cover. Is there an easy way to remove it without damaging anything?

Thanks y'all! :thumb:

Grab it and pull. It will just pop off with hand pressure. Thats how I did it:

If your afraid to do it that way grab a trim removal tool and pop it off.

Thanks, Captain. I'll give that a try.

What Captain said. you need to pull quickly and firmly - prying slowly can sometimes bend the retainer clips. Give a firm yank. Start on one side, pull one clip, move to the other side, pull one clip, the other two should come off easy then.

Hope it helps,

Not unless you can flatten your fingers like Plastic Man. All you need to do is just unscrew the two bolts on each side, and then just let the light assembly hang down. It's not going to hurt the wiring or the fixture. Then just follow the directions for the decal, bolt the assembly back on and bing bang boom, you're done. If I can do it, anybody can. :thumb:

I bought my RARE HHR sticker followed the directions removing it but when i removed the 2 bolts to get to the light one of the locking clips that holds the bolt fell and now the bolt doesnt tighten. Of course when i went to the dealer and told them what happened they dont stock them so they said it should be here by monday

Most people I know from the forums are getting them from decalbooth.com. Just send an email to sales@decalbooth.com and they can hook you up. It's my understanding you can tell them what you want it to say and what font you want and they will hook you up for less than $10.

BTW...I've got almost 12,000 fonts, so if you're looking for one in particular, let me know and I'll be happy to share it with you. Just send me a PM and I'll mock something up for you if you like. ;)

Mike from SoCalHHR"s had it made for me. I sent him a font that CourthouseDeb got for me called Gothic Showcard. He got it to me in 5 day's. Will miss his service!

You can also do what Mr. B did and hand cut with an exacto blade.
That's where Mike got the "Rare HHR" idea from!

LOL - I was the same way - not sure about just pulling off that light encasement off. Takes a little courage, but it worked. Some of us aren't used to taking stuff apart or seeing the wires of our babies just dangling there... my hubby used to do car audio installs so I'm used to it. Heck, it's always fun to see if you can get it back together and not have any parts left over!

Well, I grabbed the plastic piece....and busted it. Both sides, the part with the clip just broke off cleanly. I tried putting it back together with Gorilla glue, and it doesn't work on plastic. I'm gonna have to order a new piece.

Thats called experience. Now you have some. You can now help others. All it cost is a little money. Sometimes doing things the hard way gives you more since of satisfaction. And then sometimes it dosen't.

See ya down the road
